A Highly Hexane Soluble Lithium Salt and other Starting Materials of the Fluorinated Weakly Coordinating Anion [Al{OC(CF3)2(CH2SiMe3)}4]−

The lithium salt of the weakly coordinating alkoxyaluminate anion Li[Al(OC(CF₃)₂(CH₂SiMe₃))₄] ( 2 ) is soluble in polar and even in non‐polar solvents. Especially the solubility in n‐hexane confirms 2 to be an excellent candidate for Li ion catalysis. Its polymeric structure consists of a seven coordinated Li⁺ cation, coordinating a [Al(OC(CF₃)₂(CH₂SiMe₃)]^? anion that serves as hexadentate O₂F₄ ligand and a further bridging F atom of a second anion. Compound 2 reacts with ClCPh₃ giving the [CPh₃]⁺ salt which is at least stable in CD₂Cl₂ over days at 298 K, but decomposes after storage at 333 K for several days.     

The second volume moment of the typical cell and higher moments of edge lengths of the spatial Poisson–Voronoi tessellation

This paper presents analytical results for higher moments of characteristics of a Voronoi tessellation generated by a homogeneous Poisson point process in the three-dimensional Euclidean space. The second moment of the volume of the typical cell as well as higher moments for the edge length distribution and the linear contact distribution are given. These characteristics are calculated analytically and presented in a unified form.     

Reaction Pathways and Redox States in α-Selective Cobalt-Catalyzed Hydroborations of Alkynes

Cobalt(II) alkyl complexes supported by a monoanionic NNN pincer ligand are pre-catalysts for the regioselective hydroboration of terminal alkynes, yielding the Markovnikov products with α:β-(E) ratios of up to 97:3. A cobalt(II) hydride and a cobalt(II) vinyl complex appear to determine the main reaction pathway. In a background reaction the highly reactive hydrido species specifically converts to a coordinatively unsaturated cobalt(I) complex which was found to re-enter the main catalytic cycle.     

Insights into Ruthenium(II/IV)-Catalyzed Distal C−H Oxygenation by Weak Coordination

C−H hydroxylation of aryl acetamides and alkyl phenylacetyl esters was accomplished via challenging distal weak O-coordination by versatile ruthenium(II/IV) catalysis. The ruthenium(II)-catalyzed C−H oxygenation of aryl acetamides proceeded through C−H activation, ruthenium(II/IV) oxidation and reductive elimination, thus providing step-economical access to valuable phenols. The p-cymene-ruthenium(II/IV) manifold was established by detailed experimental and DFT-computational studies.     

A note on maximal estimates for stochastic convolutions
