Polarized photosensitivity of the heterojunctions p-Ge-n-CdGeP2<In>

The photoelectric properties are analyzed of heterojunctions obtained by heaping layers of germanium on oriented supports from CdGeP₂. It is discovered that as a result of the appearance of absorption anisotropy in the heterojunctions under illumination from the side of the germanium, polarized photosensitivity arises, and in the spectra of the natural photopleochroism, maxima are observed in the region of energies below 1.72 eV at 300 K. The high polarized photosensitivity yields a basis for recommending the heterojunctions obtained for use as photoanalyzers of linearly polarized radiation.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 1, pp. 28–30, January, 1991.

Hypersonic similarity in the flow of an imperfect gas around slender blunt bodies of complex shape

The hypersonic similarity laws for flow around slender blunt bodies [1–3] are generalized to bodies with nonsmooth lateral surface, in particular, those having corners (under the condition of unseparated supersonic flow). The similarity conditions are considered for a gas which is imperfect throughout the entire disturbed region.     

New phenomenological model of multicomponent gas diffusion

A new phenomenological model is proposed for diffusion of multicomponent gas mixtures. Obvious general structural relations between the mass diffusion fluxes and the gradients of gas mixture components are obtained within the framework of the model in the case of the multicomponent diffusion coefficients expressed in terms of the “intrinsic” diffusion coefficients of individualmixture components. The molecular mean free path model can be used to estimate the latter.
