Abstract

The solution properties of the exopolysaccharide marginalan produced by Pseudomonas marginalis HT041B were investigated by means of low-angle laser light-scattering, capillary viscometry, and rheology. Potentiometric and viscosimetric data indicated the absence of a cooperative transition of the disorder-to-order type. The experimental findings obtained in dilute solution (Mark-Houwink coefficients, rigidity coefficient, characteristic ratio) suggested that the polymer behaves like a semiflexible chain which adopts a disordered conformation. The rheological behaviour of more concentrated marginalan solutions, as determined by means of both steady shear and oscillatory measurements, further confirmed the disordered conformational state of the polymer in solution.

In this paper, we systematically address the performance of cellulose nanocrystals (CNs) coated flexible food packaging films. Firstly, the morphology of CNs from cotton linters and homogeneity of its coating on different substrates were characterized by transmission electronic microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Then, the 1.5 μm thick CNs coating on polyethylene terephthalate (PET), oriented polypropylene, oriented polyamide (OPA), and cellophane films were characterized for their mechanical, optical, anti-fog, and barrier properties. CNs coating reduces the coefficient of friction while maintaining high transparency (~90 %) and low haze (3–4 %) values, and shows excellent anti-fog properties and remarkable oxygen barrier (oxygen permeability coefficient of CNs coating, P’O2, 0.003 cm3 μm m?2 24 h?1 kPa?1). In addition, the Gelbo flex test combined with oxygen permeance (PO2) measurements and optical microscopy are firstly reported for evaluating the durability of coatings, revealing that the CNs coated PET and OPA provide the best performance among the investigated coated films. CNs are therefore considered to be a promising multi-functional coating for flexible food packaging.  相似文献

In the last few years, silver nanoparticles have been proposed as a promising alternative for the label-free detection of proteins via metal-enhanced fluorescence. Generally, the aromatic amino acid tryptophan is most frequently used in this type of studies, because the intrinsic fluorescence of proteins is usually dominated by tryptophan emissions. In the present study, we evaluated the fluorescence behavior of tryptophan in the presence of a silver colloid with nanoparticles of 100 nm in diameter. The results showed that a nanoparticles concentration of 32 mg L?1 induced maximum fluorescence enhancement. However, the metal-enhanced fluorescence was dependent on the emission wavelength of tryptophan, and this phenomenon was closely related to the metal surface reabsorption process (inner filter effect), suggesting that the plasmon resonance reabsorption effect should be taken into account in analyses involving protein studies by metal-enhanced fluorescence.  相似文献

The phenolic compounds are the main phytochemical constituents of the bark of Trichilia catigua and are commonly used for medicinal purposes. An HPLC method for the simultaneous quantification of phenolic compounds (procyanidin B2 (PB2), epicatechin (EPC), chinchonains Ia, Ib, IIa, IIb, catechin, and chrologenic acid) in T. catigua extract was developed and validated. A suitable chromatographic system was selected, which uses a gradient elution with methanol/ACN (75:25), and water both with 0.05% TFA, as mobile phase, column Luna, 280 nm, and flow 0.4 mL/min. Validation of the analytical method was based on the parameters: linearity, precision, LODs and LOQs, accuracy, robustness, and stability. The method showed linearity for PB2 and EPC, in the range 10–120 μg/mL with good correlation coefficients (>0.996). For precision, the repeatability ranged from 1.89 to 3.23%, and the values for accuracy for PB2 and EPC were 95 and 89%, respectively. The LODs and LOQs for PB2 were 1.36 and 4.12 μg/mL, and for EPC were 2.18 and 6.61 μg/mL, respectively. The method was robust under the conditions employed. The proposed method could be employed for quality assessment of T. catigua, as well as pharmaceutical products.  相似文献

Abstract

Chlorofluorocarbons are man-made long lasting atmospheric pollutants of great environmental concern, responsible for important global change phenomena. Recently, they were replaced by hydrogenated halocarbons that, even if less persistent, do not lack in environmental impact. Atmospheric concentrations of these compounds were measured in Antarctica by gas chromatography. The extremely low atmospheric mixing ratios of these compounds require a pre-concentration step of the air sample on suitable adsorbent in order to meet the sensitivity of the analytical method Results obtained analyzing air samples collected in Antarctica since 1988 for the determination of CFC-12 and CFC-11 are reported, together with data concerning the less abundant species.  相似文献

Chlorofluorocarbons and their substitutes are anthropogenic compounds strongly involved in global change phenomena. Therefore, their atmospheric mixing-ratios are monitored on a worldwide scale. In order to evaluate source strength of these compounds in Southern Europe, in 1999 a research activity, monitoring these compounds in the atmosphere of the Monte Cimone (MO, Italy) was started. Air samples, collected on a weekly base, were analyzed using a GC-MS methodology recently devised by our group. The reported results, obtained after eighteen months of observation, are relative to four fully halogenated halocarbons and four hydrogenated halocarbons.  相似文献

The general relationships between trinuclear cluster reactivity and the ligand dynamical processes in these systems are explored. Three specific mechanistic studies are presented: (1) the rate and stereochemistry of ligand addition to 3-imidoyl complexes, (2) the factors influencing the rate of carbon-hydrogen bond activation in 3-alkyne complexes, and (3) the origin of anomalously large kinetic deuterium isotope effect in metal to ligand and ligand to metal hydrogen transfer in trinuclear and binuclear complexes. In all three cases, the current state of the mechanistic studies are summarized and the possible rate of specific ligand dynamical processes in controlling the mechanism are put forth.  相似文献

The present study aims to both identify and quantify trans-sinapoylquinic acid (SiQA) regioisomers in green coffee by combined UHPLC-ESI-QqTOF-MS/MS and UHPLC-ESI-QqQ-MS/MS methods. Among the various mono-acyl chlorogenic acids found in green coffee, SiQA regioisomers are the least studied despite having been indicated as unique phytochemical markers of Coffea canephora (known as Robusta). The lack of commercially available authentic standards has been bypassed by resorting to the advantages offered by high-resolution LC–MS as far as the identification is concerned. SiQA regioisomers have been identified in several samples of Robusta and Coffea arabica (known as Arabica) commercial lots from different geographical origin and, for the first time, in different samples of coffee wild species (Coffea liberica and Coffea pseudozanguebariae). Quantification (total SiQA ranging from 3 to 5 mg/100 g) let to reconsider these chlorogenic acids as unique phytochemical markers of Robusta being present in the same quantity and distribution in C. liberica as well. Gardeniae Fructus samples (fruits of Gardenia jasminoides) have additionally been characterized as this matrix is recognized as one of the few naturally occurring SiQA sources. The SiQA regioisomer content (total SiQA about 80 mg/100 mg) fully supports the proposal to use this matrix as a surrogate standard for further studies.  相似文献

The influence of nitrogen and phosphate sources on the production of extracellular protease activity byStreptomyces clavuligerus has been investigated. The experiments were carried out in batch fermentation using soy-bean flour as nitrogen source and potassium phosphate dibasic as phosphate source. High protease yield was obtained after 24 h of fermentation with an initial pH of 7.0. The maximal protease activity (112.68 and 88.72 U/mg) was obtained the phosphate concentration of the 21 and 29 mM for strains 3585 and 644, respectively. With regard to the nitrogen concentration in both strains, the maximal protease activity was achieved with 0.5% (154.89 U/mg and 228.36 U/mg for 3585 and 644 strains, respectively). Enzyme production appeared to be modulated by an inducer system where ammonia, complex nitrogen, and phosphate sources might have been involved.  相似文献
