On the reaction of 2-amino-4-thiazoliniminium salts with active methylene compounds

Summary The easily available 2-amino-4-thiazoliniminium salts6 react with different types of active methylene compounds. Whereas 2-amino-4-cyanomethylene-4,5-dihydrothiazoles13 and14 are formed with malononitrile (11) or ethyl cyanoacetate (12) in the presence of bases, acetyl acetone (15) and ethyl acetic acetate (16) afford 2-amino-thiazolo[4,5-b]pyridines21 and22, resp. The structures of the new compounds13, 14, 21 and22 have been elucidated by means of analytical and spectroscopic methods and confirmed by some chemical reactions.

Reaktion von 2-Amino-4-thiazoliniminium-Salzen mit aktivierten Methylenverbindungen

Zusammenfassung Durch Reaktion der einfach zugänglichen 2-Amino-4-thiazoliniminium-Salze6 mit Malonsäuredinitril (11) oder Cyanessigsäureethylester (12) in Gegenwart von Basen werden die 2-Amino-4-cyanmethylen-4,5-dihydrothiazole13 bzw.14 gebildet, während mit Acetylaceton (15) und Acetessigsäureethylester (16) auf analoge Weise die 2-Aminothiazolo[4,5-b]pyridine21 bzw.22 entstehen. Die Strukturen der neu dargestellten Verbindungen des Typs13, 14, 21 und22 wurden spektroskopisch abgesichert und durch einige Folgereaktionen bestätigt.

     

One-step stereospecific synthesis of α,β-dehydroamino acids and dehydropeptides.

Dehydroamino acids and dehydropeptides were prepared by a one-pot reaction employing diethyl chloroposphate in the presence of sodium hydride. The reaction is stereospecific and proceeds without racemization.     

Local asymptotic normality and mixed normality for Markov statistical models

Summary We prove local asymptotic normality (resp. local asymptotic mixed normality) of a statistical experiment, when the observation is a positive-recurrent (resp. null-recurrent, with an additional technical assumption) Markov chain or Markov step process, under rather mild regularity assumptions on the transition kernel for Markov chains, on the infinitesimal generator for Markov processes. The proof makes intensive use of Hellinger processes, thus avoiding almost completely to study the more complicated structure of the likelihoods themselves.     

Correlations in anticrossing spectra and scattering theory: Numerical simulations

For the interpretation of experimental results of anticrossing spectroscopy in molecules, the results of numerical simulations are presented. We have focussed our attention on the visibility of the correlation hole. In the formulation of the model, we combine scattering theory and a random-matrix model.     

Influence of Nd substitution on the superconducting properties of ceramics in the 2212 system Bi2−wPbwSr2−xCa1−yNdx+yCu2O8+z

In the system Bi_2−wPb_wSr_2−xCa_1−yNd_x+yCu₂O_8+z different fractions of Nd are substituted on either Sr of Ca sites in order to introduce intrinsic insulating pinning centres. It is shown that a Nd concentration around x or y = 0.2 is likewise favourable with an average Nd---Nd distance in the range of the coherence length in the a, b-plane. However, clear evidence of flux pinning is only present for charge compensation with Pb²⁺. A simultaneous substitution of the Bi-based 2212 superconductor with moderate amounts of Nd³⁺ and Pb²⁺ improves the superconducting properties by strengthening the flux pinning forces.     

Gamma radiation, cold and four different wrappings to preserve ginger rhizomes, Zingiber officinallis Roscoe

After irradiating with a single dose of 50 Gy, ginger rhizomes were dipped into paraffin for coating, wrapped in a plastic film of low-density polyethylene, on perforated or non-perforated polivinyl chloride film, and compared with non-wrapping and non-irradiation as the controls. After treatments the rhizomes were maintained refrigerated at 13°C and 80% relative humidity. As a main result it could be observed that dipping into paraffin and wrapping with plastics resulted in smaller weight loss of the rhizomes.     

Dielectric relaxation of a nematic eutectic mixture with a high glass temperature

Dielectric relaxation measurements in the frequency range from 2 Hz to 100 kHz have been carried out on an oriented binary nematic mixture of low molecular liquid crystals with a glass temperature of 307 K. For both relaxation frequencies, f_R‖ and f_R⊥, a glass behaviour according to the Vogel-Fulcher law could be detected. The Cole-Cole distribution parameter for reorientation around the long molecular axis increases strongly with decreasing temperature. This effect is discussed with regard to the optical biaxiality of the mixture.
