A new catalytic oxidation method for the preparation of aromatic carboxylic acids from methyl aryl ketones is reported. The method is an alternative to the haloform reaction; it is benign and affords the desired product without production of any harmful side products. The catalytic cycle is based on the use of an electron-deficient nitroarene as catalyst with either of the two cheap and green oxidants sodium percarbonate or sodium perborate. The method gives a good yield (87%) and shows excellent selectivity when the model substrate (acetophenone) is oxidized. A series of benzoic acids of industrial interest were prepared by means of this method.  相似文献

Cellulose composites were produced by culturing Acetobacter aceti subsp. xylinum (ATCC 53524, agitation tolerant strain) under shaking and agitating conditions in the presence of 2% pine or beech Björkman lignin-carbohydrate complexes (LCCs) or six different types of hemicellulosic polysaccharides including glucuronoxylan, glucomannan, O-acetyl-glucuronoxylan, arabinoglucuronoxylan, arabinogalactan and xyloglucan. Hemicellulosic polysaccharide contents in cellulose composites were similar in spite of the differences in culture, shaking and agitating conditions. On the basis of hemicellulosic polysaccharide contents and X-ray diffraction patterns after extraction by dilute NaOH solution, glucomannan family polysaccharides were found to have the highest affinity to bacterial cellulose. Composites with neutral and acidic LCCs were resistant against alkali while high lability of their delignified carbohydrates against alkali indicates the importance of lignin for formation of cellulose-hemicellulose-lignin framework of plant secondary cell-walls.  相似文献

We introduce a new approach to crystal-packing analysis, based on the study of mutual recognition modes of entire molecules or of molecular moieties, rather than a search for selected atom-atom contacts, and on the study of crystal energy landscapes over many computer-generated polymorphs, rather than a quest for the one most stable crystal structure. The computational tools for this task are a polymorph generator and the PIXEL density sums method for the calculation of intermolecular energies. From this perspective, the molecular recognition, crystal packing, and solid-state phase behavior of caffeine and several methylxanthines (purine-2,6-diones) have been analyzed. Many possible crystal structures for anhydrous caffeine have been generated by computer simulation, and the most stable among them is a thermodynamic, ordered equivalent of the disordered phase, revealed by powder X-ray crystallography. Molecular recognition energies between two caffeine molecules or between caffeine and water have been calculated, and the results reveal the largely predominant mode to be the stacking of parallel caffeine molecules, an intermediately favorable caffeine-water interaction, and many other equivalent energy minima for lateral interactions of much less stabilization power. This last indetermination helps to explain why caffeine does not crystallize easily into an ordered anhydrous structure. In contrast, the mono- and dimethylxanthines (theophylline, theobromine, and the 1,7-isomer, for which we present a single-crystal X-ray study and a lattice energy landscape) do crystallize in anhydrous form thanks to the formation of lateral hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

A novel synthetic process leading to the framework of benzo[c]cinnoline has been discovered and investigated. The process is composed of two separate reactions, the first of which is a partial reduction of the nitro groups of the 2,2'-dinitrobiphenyl, a process that we believe proceeds via a SET mechanism to yield the hydroxyamino and nitroso groups. In the following step the cyclization takes place under formation of the -N=N- bond. We believe that this process take place via a radical mechanism through the nitroso radical anion. The novel process affords either benzo[c]cinnoline or benzo[c]cinnoline N-oxide, both in high yields, 93% and 91%, respectively. To obtain benzo[c]cinnoline, the reaction is conducted with an alcohol as solvent and an alkoxide as the base, while for benzo[c]cinnoline N-oxide, water is used as solvent with sodium hydroxide as the base. To establish the latter procedure, statistical experimental design and multivariate modeling were utilized to reveal the response surface for the reaction and to determine the optimal conditions for the reaction. A proposal for the complex reaction mechanism is given. During the corroboration of the mechanism, a new deoxygenation reaction for converting benzo[c]cinnoline N-oxide into benzo[c]cinnoline was discovered. The reaction is conducted by treating the N-oxide with sodium ethoxide at elevated temperature to achieve near-quantitative conversion into benzo[c]cinnoline in a yield of 96%.  相似文献

Poly(asparagine) (pAsn) at 0.1wt % in the presence of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) and pentaoxyethylene octyl ether (C(8)E(5)) at 1:1 molar ratio leads to the formation of mixed DTAB/C(8)E(5) micelle-like aggregates onto the polypeptide as a total surfactant critical association concentration (cac) is reached, as revealed by surface tension measurements and NMR chemical shifts. Two-dimensional nuclear Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (NOESY) capable of revealing spatial relationships among proximal protons has been performed on the pAsn-DTAB-C(8)E(5)-water system to study structural details of the surfactant-polypeptide aggregates. NOESY cross-peaks at sample temperature of 298.15 K indicate that the polypeptide interacts with the DTAB/C(8)E(5) micelle-like aggregates. The NOE intermolecular effects also show direct interactions between surfactant and polypeptide in the pAsn-DTAB-water system, whereas no interaction has been revealed in the pAsn-C(8)E(5)-water system. Furthermore, the experimental evidence suggest that the DTAB-polypeptide complex is mainly driven by the polar attraction between the two molecules.  相似文献

Based on the enormous potential for food irradiation in Brazil, and to ensure free consumer choice, there is a need to find a convenient and rapid method for detection of irradiated food. Since treatment with ionising radiation causes DNA fragmentation, the analysis of DNA damage might be promising. In this paper, the DNA Comet Assay was used to identify exotic meat (boar, jacaré and capybara), irradiated with 60Co gamma rays. The applied radiation doses were 0, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 kGy. Analysis of the DNA migration enabled a rapid identification of the radiation treatment.  相似文献

The UV‐dissipative mechanisms of the eumelanin building block 5,6‐dihydroxyindole‐2‐carboxylic acid (DHICA) and the 4,7‐dideutero derivative (DHICA‐d2) in buffered H2O or D2O have been characterized by using ultrafast time‐resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Excitation of the carboxylate anion form, the dominating state at neutral pH, leads to dual fluorescence. The band peaking at λ=378 nm is caused by emission from the excited initial geometry. The second band around λ=450 nm is owed to a complex formed between the mono‐anion and specific buffer components. In the absence of complex formation, the mono‐anion solely decays non‐radiatively or by emission with a lifetime of about 2.1 ns. Excitation of the neutral carboxylic acid state, which dominates at acidic pH, leads to a weak emission around λ=427 nm with a short lifetime of 240 ps. This emission originates from the zwitterionic state, formed upon excitation of the neutral state by sub‐ps excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) between the carboxylic acid group and the indole nitrogen. Future studies will unravel whether this also occurs in larger building blocks and ESIPT is a built‐in photoprotective mechanism in epidermal eumelanin.  相似文献

A copper phthalocyanine/multiwalled carbon nanotube film‐modified glassy carbon electrode has been used for the determination of the herbicide glyphosate (Gly) at ?50 mV vs. SCE by electrochemical oxidation using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that Gly is adsorbed on the metallic centre of the copper phthalocyanine molecule, with formation of Gly‐copper ion complexes. An analytical method was developed using DPV in pH 7.4 phosphate buffer solution, without any pretreatment steps: Gly was determined in the concentration range of 0.83–9.90 μmol L?1, with detection limit 12.2 nmol L?1 (2.02 μg L?1).  相似文献
