The adsorption capacities of commercial and Brazilian natural clays were evaluated to test their applications in wastewater
control. We investigated the process of sorption of manganese(II) and cadmium(II) present in synthetic aqueous effluents,
by calculating the adsorption isotherms at 298 K using batch experiments. The influence of temperature and pH on the adsorption
process was also studied. Adsorption of metals was best described by a Langmuir isotherm, with values of Q
0 parameter, which is related to the sorption capacity, corresponding to 6.3 mg g− 1 for K-10/Cd(II), 4.8 mg g− 1 for K-10/Mn(II), 11.2 mg g− 1 for NT-25/Cd(II) and 6.0 mg g− 1 for NT-25/Mn(II). We observed two distinct adsorption mechanisms that may influence adsorption. At the first 5 min of interaction,
a cation exchange mechanism that takes place at exchange sites located on (001) basal planes is predominant. This process
is inhibited by low pH values. After this first and fast step, a second sorption mechanism can be related to formation of
inner-sphere surface complexes, which is formed at edges of the clay. The rate constants and the initial sorption rates correlate
positively with temperature in all studied systems, denoting the predominance of a physisorption process. The addition of
complexing agents that are incorporated within the K10 structure, enhance metal uptake by the adsorbent. The results have
shown that both Cd(II) and Mn(II) were totally retained from a 50 mg L− 1 solution when K10 grafted with ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (APDC) was used as adsorbent. 相似文献

The Copaifera species (Leguminoseae) are popularly known as ‘copaíba’ or ‘copaíva’ and are grown in the states of Amazonas, Pará and Ceará in northern Brazil. The oleoresins obtained from these species have been extensively used owing to their pharmacological potential and their application in cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations. In the present study, the development and validation of a novel, rapid and efficient RP‐HPLC methodology for the analysis of the diterpene (?)‐copalic acid (CA), pointed out as the only chemical marker of the Copaifera genus, are described. The regression equation (Y = 26,707x ? 29,498) was obtained with good linearity (r2 = 0.9993) and the limits of quantification and detection were 9.182 and 3.032 µg/mL, respectively. The precision and the accuracy of the method were adequate (lower than 4%). Finally, the validation parameters evaluated were satisfactorily met, so the developed method represents a suitable tool for application in the quality control of such natural products. Further studies aiming to develop analytical methodologies for each Copaifera species using a more representative number of chemical markers should be performed. We review the process of star formation, detailing the theories underlying the stability of molecular clouds and their collapse to protostars, and discussing the empirical evidence and models which inform them. We give emphasis to the role that the magnetic field plays in influencing the stability of molecular clouds and hence the star formation rate. The end result of star formation is a mass function which appears constant within our Galaxy. A relative abundance of low mass stars is observed over high mass stars and most of the stars that do form are found to exist as members of a binary system. The origin of binarity is reviewed as is the discovery, formation and observations of some of the lowest mass stars known, the brown dwarfs. 相似文献

A memory-function model is used to compute the velocity autocorrelation function and the self-diffusion coefficient of a dense Lennard-Jones fluid from the zero-time correlation functions of the molecular velocity and its first two time derivatives. It is shown that these zero-time correlation functions can be evaluated in terms of the radial distribution function and the pair potential only, i.e. without considering higher order correlation functions. Since molecular dynamics results are available for the radial distribution function as well as the velocity autocorrelation function and the self-diffusion coefficient, a rigorous test of the chosen memory function is possible. The current chemotherapy for Chagas disease is still based on benznidazole, which has low solubility, but complexation with cyclodextrins provides a way of increasing the solubility. The objective of this work was to characterize the inclusion complexes formed between benznidazole (BNZ) and randomly 2-methyled-β-cyclodextrin (RM-β-CD) in aqueous solution and study cytotoxicity and trypanocidal. BNZ:RM-β-CD solution complex systems were prepared and characterized using the phase solubility diagram, nuclear magnetic resonance and a photostability assays, also to investigate the in vitro trypanocidal activity with epimastigote forms of Trypanossoma cruzi and the study of cytotoxicity against mammal cells. The phase-solubility diagram displayed an A L-type feature, providing evidence of the formation of soluble inclusion complexes. The continuous variation method showed the existence of a complex with 1:1 stoichiometry. Toxicity assays demonstrated that inclusion complexes were able to reduce the toxic effects caused by benznidazole alone and that this did not interfere with the trypanocidal activity of the benznidazole. The use of inclusion complexes benznidazole:cyclodextrin is thus a promising alternative for the development of a safe and stable liquid formulation and a new option for the treatment of Chagas disease. 相似文献
