Exotic nuclei produced by heavy-ions induced fission

About thirty nuclei in theA≈100 mass region have been produced as fission fragments following the fusion-evaporation reactions^28,30Si+¹⁷⁶Yb at 145 MeV bombarding energy. These nuclei have been individually identified from their γ-ray cascades detected with the Eurogam2 array. The level schemes of several stable or neutron-rich nuclei have been extended to higher spins. From cross coincidences between transitions in complementary fragments, γ-rays de-exciting high-spin states of new isotopes can be identified and some aspects of the fission mechanism can be analyzed.     

ORTHOGONAL MATRIX POLYNOMIALS WITH RESPECT TO A CONJUGATE BILINEAR MATRIX MOMENT FUNCTIONAL: BASIC THEORY

In this paper basic results for a theory of orthogonal matrix polynomials with respect to a conjugate bilinear matrix moment functional are proposed. Properties of orthogonal matrix polynomial sequences including a three term matrix relationship are given. Positive definite conjugate bilinear matrix moment functionals are introduced and a characterization of positive definiteness in terms of a block Haenkel moment matrix is established. For each positive definite conjugate bilinear matrix moment functional an associated matrix inner product is defined.

Treasury Management Model with Foreign Exchange Exposure

In this paper we formulate a model for foreign exchange exposure management and (international) cash management taking into consideration random fluctuations of exchange rates. A vector error correction model (VECM) is used to predict the random behaviour of the forward as well as spot rates connecting dollar and sterling. A two-stage stochastic programming (TWOSP) decision model is formulated using these random parameter values. This model computes currency hedging strategies, which provide rolling decisions of how much forward contracts should be bought and how much should be liquidated.The model decisions are investigated through ex post simulation and backtesting in which value at risk (VaR) for alternative decisions are computed. The investigation (a) shows that there is a considerable improvement to “spot only” strategy, (b) provides insight into how these decisions are made and (c) also validates the performance of this model.     

Chalcogenide Glass for Passive Infrared Applications

Chalcogenide glass fibers have been successfully used for remote spectroscopy, temperature sensing and CO2 laser power delivery. In bulk form, chalcogenide glass is the most promising candidate for replacing the expensive germanium lenses for thermal imaging.     

Angular distributions in quasi-fission reactions: Evidence for incomplete relaxation of the tilting mode

The integral β^?-spectra of²³⁵U and²³⁹Pu fission products have been measured with a plastic scintillator telescope at an external neutron guide tube at the high flux reactor of the ILL in Grenoble. The highly enriched targets (150 – 800 γg/cm²) were placed in a fission chamber at a distance of approximately 110 m from the reactor core. From the measured beta-spectra absolute counting rates per MeV and fission have been calculated, which are compared with the results of earlier experiments of other authors and with recent theoretical calculations.

烟草(Nicotiana tabacum)原生质体再生成植株及影响植株分化的某些因素

从烟草(品种革新一号)单倍体花粉植株的叶和茎产生的愈伤组织,结合悬浮培养,获得的细胞分离出原生质体。在液体培养基中静置培养,12小时后原生质体开始变为卵圆形,细胞壁明显可见,24小时后完成第一次细胞分裂。以后继续分裂形成浅黄色的愈伤组织,在培养四星期后可达1毫米大小,再放到转床上进行旋转培养18天左右,愈伤组织可达3—4毫米大小。当转移到分化培养基后,分别分化出苗及根,长成完整的植株。 原生质体再生细胞的分裂与分化,不仅受不同器官来源的愈伤组织及其年龄的影响;还受分化培养基的基本成份及所用细胞分裂素的类型等的影响。
