A photochemically induced fluorescence system combined with second-order chemometric analysis for the determination of the anticonvulsant carbamazepine (CBZ) is presented. CBZ is a widely used drug for the treatment of epilepsy and is included in the group of emerging contaminant present in the aquatic environment. CBZ is not fluorescent in solution but can be converted into a fluorescent compound through a photochemical reaction in a strong acid medium. The determination is carried out by measuring excitation–emission photoinduced fluorescence matrices of the products formed upon ultraviolet light irradiation in a laboratory-constructed reactor constituted by two simple 4 W germicidal tubes. Working conditions related to both the reaction medium and the photoreactor geometry are optimized by an experimental design. The developed approach enabled the determination of CBZ at trace levels without the necessity of applying separation steps, and in the presence of uncalibrated interferences which also display photoinduced fluorescence and may be potentially present in the investigated samples. Different second-order algorithms were tested and successful resolution was achieved using multivariate curve resolution-alternating least-squares (MCR-ALS). The study is employed for the discussion of the scopes and yields of each of the applied second-order chemometric tools. The quality of the proposed method is probed through the determination of the studied emerging pollutant in both environmental and drinking water samples. After a pre-concentration step on a C18 membrane using 50.0 mL of real water samples, a prediction relative error of 2% and limits of detection and quantification of 0.2 and 0.6 ng mL−1 were respectively obtained. 相似文献

Air monitoring networks are necessary to assess air quality in order to reduce pollution to levels which minimize harmful effects on human health and the environment. This paper describes a method to design or optimize air quality monitoring networks for nitrogen dioxide and ozone and its application in Malaga, a medium large city located in Andalusia, southern Spain, with traffic being the main source of air pollution. The completion of this method revealed that the old assessment network in Malaga was badly designed and made it possible to determine that one traffic-orientated and one background control station were necessary for NO2 assessment in Malaga, as well as two control stations for O3. First the number of stations necessary is obtained from historical data. Sampling campaigns with passive diffusion samplers at 74 sites were then carried out to obtain information on the pollution distribution in Malaga. The average concentrations found for NO2 and O3 were 22.8 μg/m3 and 64.3 μg/m3 respectively. Maximum values of up to 42.2 μg/m3 NO2 were found in Malaga city centre and O3 reached 91.5 μg/m3 downwind from the emission source. After spatial interpolation of the obtained values with Geographical Information Systems, a selection of the best locations for the monitoring stations was made, in line with the macro- and microscale siting requirements of the European Directive 2008/50/EC on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe. 相似文献

Iterated greedy search is a simple and effective metaheuristic for combinatorial problems. Its flexibility enables the incorporation of components from other metaheuristics with the aim of obtaining effective and powerful hybrid approaches. We propose a tabu-enhanced destruction mechanism for iterated greedy search that records the last removed objects and avoids removing them again in subsequent iterations. We examine the numerical solution of the adjoint quasi‐one‐dimensional Euler equations with a central‐difference finite volume scheme with Jameson‐Schmidt‐Turkel (JST) dissipation, for both the continuous and discrete approaches. First, the complete formulations and discretization of the quasi‐one‐dimensional Euler equations and the continuous adjoint equation and its counterpart, the discrete adjoint equation, are reviewed. The differences between the continuous and discrete boundary conditions are also explored. Second, numerical testing is carried out on a symmetric converging–diverging duct under subsonic flow conditions. This analysis reveals that the discrete adjoint scheme, while being manifestly less accurate than the continuous approach, gives nevertheless more accurate flow sensitivities. Thermal stability of bovine α-lactalbumin in buffer and dilute aqueous solutions of erythritol, xylitol, sorbitol, inositol
and glucose was evaluated by fluorescence spectroscopy and circular dichroism. Results show that at the selected conditions,
the transition is reversible and is well described by a two-state model. At low concentration the cosolutes do not show a
structure stabilizing effect, and some of them even destabilize the protein. At higher concentration, all of them stabilize
the native protein conformation; however, the extent of stabilization is lower than the effect shown with other proteins,

The synthesis and characterization of Pb3O2Cl2 nanowires and the electrorheological (ER) properties of carbon nanofiber (CNF), carbon nanotube (CNT) and Pb3O2Cl2 nanowire (NW) laden suspensions is presented. The ER properties were investigated through oscillatory shear experiments. The viscoelastic response in the presence of dc electric fields was analyzed. Actuation behavior for the CNF and NW laden suspensions was observed at low voltages and low concentration of the reinforcements (0.05 wt%). In the case of the CNT laden suspensions, an effect was observed at a concentration of 0.0125 wt%. Positive and negative electrorheological behaviors were observed due to differences in electrical conductivity and polarization mechanisms. 相似文献
