Synthesis of α,ω‐Bis(oxazolidinone)polyoxyethylene via a Lithium Bromide–Catalyzed Reaction of Oligoethylene Glycol Diglycidyl Ethers with Isocyanates

The synthesis of bis(oxazolidinone)polyoxyethylene derivatives 2a–h from oligoethylene glycols diglycidyl ethers 1a–e and isocyanates is reported. The reaction was achieved by lithium bromide and tributylphosphine oxide. These bis‐oxazolidinones may have important antibacterial activity.     

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Poly-thiophene-nanoporous Silica and its Application for Mercury Removal from Waste Waters

In this work, MCM-41 (Mobil Composition of Matter number 41) nanoporous silica has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and IR spectroscopy. In the next step, poly-thiophene was coated on the nanoporous silica in order to increase its surface area. This composite was characterized by X-Ray powder diffraction, High resolution transmission electronic microscopy micrograph (HRTEM), elemental analysis (CHNS) and Thermal analysis (TG/DTA). The application of this composite was investigated in mercury ions removal from waste water prior to determination by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). In order to investigate the effect of nanoporous structure on the efficiency of this composite, the same composite without porous structure has been synthesized and the results were compared.

Abstract

The addition of hydrazine and its derivatives to cycloalkoxyphosphinallenes leads to β-(5,5-dialkyl-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphoranyl)-hydrazones in good yields. The structure of the obtained compounds were elucidated by the NMR (¹H, ¹³C, ³¹P) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations at B3LYP/6-311++G (2d, 2p) level of theory.     

A novel method for the reduction of sulfoxides with the N,N,N’,N’-tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide (TBBDA)/PPh3 system

A new method is described for the reduction of sulfoxides to sulfides using N,N,N’,N’-tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide [TBBDA] in combination with triphenylphosphine. Good to excellent yields, short reaction times, high efficiency and facile isolation of the desired products are the advantages of this method.     

A new DEA ranking system based on changing the reference set

This research proposes a new ranking system for extreme efficient DMUs (Decision Making Units) based upon the omission of these efficient DMUs from reference set of the inefficient DMUs. We state and prove some facts related to our model. A numerical example where the proposed method is compared with traditional ranking approaches is shown.

A simple and efficient approach to the synthesis of 1-phosphonated 5-amino-1-H-[1,2,4]-triazole from N-functionalized imidates

In this study, we describe a new and easy synthetic approach to variously substituted triazoles based on the reaction of imidates with phosphorylated hydrazine in good yields. A general mechanism of the reactions was also proposed. Characterization of the products was carried out by several analytical and spectroscopic tools including infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies (¹H, ¹³C NMR, ³¹P NMR).     

Magnetic carbon nanotubes modified with 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane are a viable sorbent for extraction of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors

Carbon nanotubes were modified with magnetite nanoparticles, and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) was then covalently attached to their surface. The resulting material is shown to be a viable sorbent for the preconcentration of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors citalopram, sertraline, fluvoxamine and fluoxetine via ultrasound-assisted magnetic solid phase extraction. The effects of pH value, sorbent dosage, eluent volume and salt concentration were optimized by central composite design and desirability function. The drugs were quantified by HPLC with UV detection. Detection limits are as low as 0.2, 0.25, 0.3, and 0.5 ng mL^?1 for citalopram, sertraline, fluvoxamine and fluoxetine, respectively. The intra-day precisions (RSDs) are <4.0%. The method was applied to the determination of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in plasma samples and gave recoveries of >91%. The sorbent can be reused 12 times without a noticeable decrease in extraction efficiency.
