The Successive Self-nucleation and Annealing (SSA) thermal fractionation technique is briefly reviewed to highlight recent advances such as the use of high speed DSC concepts to perform faster fractionation. Additionally, recent applications of SSA to characterize confined semi-crystalline model polyethylenes in block copolymer nanophases and in situ prepared nanocomposites with carbon nanotubes are also reviewed. A novel result presented here deals with the use of a macromolecular plasticizer to improve the quality of SSA thermal fractionation.  相似文献

This paper presents a two-dimensional numerical study for mixed convection in a laminar cross-flow with a pair of stationary equal-sized isothermal cylinders in tandem arrangement confined in a channel. The governing equations are solved using the control volume method on a nonuniform orthogonal Cartesian grid, and the immersed boundary method is employed to identify the cylinders placed in the flow field. The numerical scheme is first validated against standard cases of symmetrically confined isothermal circular cylinders in plane channels, and grid convergence tests were also examined. The objective of the present study was to investigate the influence of buoyancy and the blockage ratio constraint on the flow and heat transfer characteristics of the immersed cylinder array. Using a fixed Reynolds number based on cylinder diameter of \(Re_{D} = 200\), a fixed value of the Prandtl number of \(Pr = 7\), and a blockage ratio of \(D/H = 0.2\), all possible flow regimes are considered by setting the longitudinal spacing ratio (\(\sigma = L/D\)) between the cylinder axes to 2, 3, and 5 for values of the buoyancy parameter (Richardson number) in the range \(-1\le Ri\le 4\). The interference effects and complex flow features are presented in the form of mean and instantaneous velocity, vorticity, and temperature distributions. The results demonstrate how the buoyancy, spacing ratio, and wall confinement affect the wake structure and vortex dynamics. In addition, local and average heat transfer characteristics of both cylinders are comprehensively presented for a wide range in the parametric space.  相似文献

We point out a general framework that encompasses most cases in which quantum effects enable an increase in precision when estimating a parameter (quantum metrology). The typical quantum precision enhancement is of the order of the square root of the number of times the system is sampled. Let K/F be a Kummer cyclic extension of number fields. In the case when the degree is a prime number, Gómez Ayala gave an explicit criterion for the existence of a normal integral basis. More recently Ichimura proposed a generalization of that result for cyclic extensions of arbitrary degree, but we have found that Ichimura’s result is incorrect. In this paper we present a counter-example to Ichimura’s result as well as the correct generalization of Gómez Ayala’s result.  相似文献

We propose a variant of two SVM regression algorithms expressly tailored in order to exploit additional information summarizing the relevance of each data item, as a measure of its relative importance w.r.t. the remaining examples. These variants, enclosing the original formulations when all data items have the same relevance, are preliminary tested on synthetic and real-world data sets. The obtained results outperform standard SVM approaches to regression if evaluated in light of the above mentioned additional information about data quality.  相似文献

Starting from a model of traffic congestion, we introduce a minimal-flow-like variational problem whose solution is characterized by a very degenerate elliptic PDE. We precisely investigate the relations between these two problems, which can be done by considering some weak notion of flow for a related ODE. We also prove regularity results for the degenerate elliptic PDE, which enables us in some cases to apply the DiPerna–Lions theory.  相似文献

By means of a variational approach we rigorously deduce three one-dimensional models for elastic ribbons from the theory of von Kármán plates, passing to the limit as the width of the plate goes to zero. The one-dimensional model found starting from the “linearized” von Kármán energy corresponds to that of a linearly elastic beam that can twist but can deform in just one plane; while the model found from the von Kármán energy is a non-linear model that comprises stretching, bendings, and twisting. The “constrained” von Kármán energy, instead, leads to a new Sadowsky type of model.  相似文献
