Dipolar couplings obtained previously by analyzing the proton NMR spectra of samples dissolved in nematic solvents of thioanisole and 4-chloroseleno anisole were interpreted in terms of jumps between symmetry-related forms for the motion about the ring-X and X-CH3 bonds. Two models were found to fit the data: jumps between four positions of minimum energy having the X-CH3 bond rotated through ? about 40° out of the ring plane, or jumps between planar and orthogonal structures with unequal weightings. The proton and fluorine dipolar couplings for 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro anisole were interpreted previously in terms of free rotation about the ring—O bond, but with the assumption that the orientational order parameters are independent of the rotational angle ?. The data for all three molecules is re-interpreted here, plus new data for thioanisole dissolved in a second nematic solvent, using a theoretical model which allows for the dependence of the orientational ordering on ?, thus permitting continuous potentials to be tested, and which also involves fewer variable parameters. This constraining of the model leads to a rejection of the non-planar positions for the minimum in the rotational potential, but leaves two other possible solutions: a two-fold continuous potential for rotation about the ring-X bond with a minimum when the C-X bond is in the ring plane and a maximum when it is at 90°, or a four fold continuous potential with a secondary minimum at 90°. In the case of the tetrafluoro anisole the two-fold potential corresponds to virtually free rotation.  相似文献

Label-free and real-time DNA sequence detection in PCR-amplified DNA samples can now be achieved by different approaches. On the contrary, only few works have been reported dealing with direct sequence detection in nonamplified genomic DNA. Here, a piezoelectric biosensor for direct detection of sequences in nonamplified genomic DNA is described. The system relies on real-time and label-free detection of the hybridization reaction between an immobilized probe and the complementary sequence in solution. The DNA probe is immobilized on the sensing surface (10 MHz quartz crystals), while the complementary sequence is present in the genomic DNA, previously fragmented with restriction enzymes.  相似文献

A high-performance liquid chromatography/single quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC/MS) method is described for the determination of urinary S-phenylmercapturic acid (S-PMA), a specific metabolite of benzene. Urine samples were spiked with [13C6]S-PMA (used as the internal standard) and acidified; then they were purified by solid-phase extraction (SPE) on C18 cartridges. Analyses were conducted on a reversed-phase column by gradient runs with 1% aqueous acetic acid/methanol mixtures at different proportions as the mobile phase. The detector was used in electrospray negative ion mode (ESI-), the ions m/z 238 for S-PMA and 244 for [13C6]S-PMA being recorded simultaneously. The detection limit (for a signal-to-noise ratio = 3) was 0.2 microg/L, thus allowing for the measurement of background excretion of S-PMA in the general population. The use of the internal standard allowed us to obtain good precision (CV% values < 3%) and a linear calibration curve within the range of interest for monitoring occupational exposure to benzene (up to 500 microg/L). The method was applied to assay the metabolite concentration in a group of 299 workers (68 smokers and 231 non-smokers) occupationally exposed to relatively low levels of benzene (environmental concentration = 0.4-220 microg/m3, mean 11.4 microg/m3 and 236 non-exposed subjects (134 smokers and 102 non-smokers). The results clearly showed that smoking must be taken into account for the correct interpretation of the results of S-PMA measurements for the assessment of work-related benzene exposure. When only non-smokers were selected, the mean excretion of S-PMA was significantly higher in workers exposed to benzene (1.2 +/- 0.9 microg/g creatinine) than in the control group (0.7 +/- 0.6 microg/g creatinine) (p < 0.001), thus confirming the role of S-PMA as a biomarker of benzene on a group basis, even for relatively low exposure degrees.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structure of the layered weak-ferromagnet Fe[CH(3)PO(3)] x H(2)O has been solved by X-ray single-crystal diffraction techniques. Crystal data for Fe[CH(3)PO(3)] x H(2)O are the following: orthorhombic space group Pna2(1); a =17.538(2), b = 4.814(1), c = 5.719(1) A. The structure is lamellar, and it consists of alternating organic and inorganic layers along the a direction of the unit cell. The inorganic layers are made of Fe(II) ions octahedrally coordinated by five phosphonate oxygen atoms and one from oxygen of the water molecule. Each phosphonate group coordinates four metal ions, through chelation and bridging, making in this way a cross-linked Fe-O network. The resultant layers are then separated by bilayers of the methyl groups, with van der Waals contacts between them. The compound is air stable, and it dehydrates under inert atmosphere at temperatures above 120 degrees C. The oxidation state of the metal ion is +2, and the electronic configuration is d(6)( )()high spin (S = 2), as determined from dc magnetic susceptibility measurements from 150 K to ambient temperature. Below 100 K, the magnetic moment of Fe[CH(3)PO(3)] x H(2)O rises rapidly to a maximum at T(max) approximately equal to 24 K, and then it decreases again. The onset of peak at T = 25 K is associated with the 3D antiferromagnetic long-range ordering, T(N). The observed critical temperature, T(N), is like all the other previously reported Fe(II) phosphonates, and it appears to be nearly independent of the interlayer spacing in this family of hybrid organic-inorganic layered compounds. Below T(N), the compound behaves as a "weak ferromagnet", and represents the third kind of magnetic materials with a spontaneous magnetization below a finite critical temperature, ferromagnets and ferrimagnets being the other two types.  相似文献

We have obtained a very large data set of spectral parameters from the analysis of (1)H NMR and (13)C satellite spectra of 2,2'-bithiophene dissolved in anisotropic, partially orienting mesophases. In particular, this parameter set includes 33 dipolar couplings, which are directly related to the interatomic distances, the dihedral angle phi between the two thiophenic rings, and the anisotropic solute-solvent interaction potential. This allows an exhaustive investigation of the conformational equilibrium of 2,2'-bithiophene in a liquidlike phase. Comparison with the predictions of high-level theoretical calculations for the isolated molecule provides evidence of a strong flattening as well as the sharpening effect of the medium on the conformer population. The approximations needed to apply vibrational corrections to flexible molecules are discussed in detail and some general conclusions concerning their effect on structure and conformational equilibria are proposed.  相似文献
