Multifunctional Redox Polymers: Electrochrome,Polyelectrolyte, Sensor,Electrode Modifier,Nanoparticle Stabilizer,and Catalyst Template

Simple “click” polycondensation metallopolymers of redox‐robust bis(ethynyl)biferrocene (biFc) and di(azido) poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG400 and PEG1000) were designed for multiple functions including improvement of water solubility and biocompatibility, the introduction of mixed valency and sensing capabilities, and as nanoparticle stabilizers for catalysis.     

Infimal Convolution and Optimal Time Control Problem I: Fréchet and Proximal Subdifferentials

We consider a general minimal time problem with a convex constant dynamics and a lower semicontinuous extended real-valued target function defined on a Banach space. If the target function is the indicator function of a closed set, this problem is a minimal time problem for a target set, studied previously in particular by Colombo, Goncharov and Mordukhovich. We investigate several properties of the Fréchet and proximal subdifferentials for the infimum time function. Also explicit expressions of the above mentioned subdifferentials as well as various directional derivatives are obtained. We provide some examples to show the essentiality of assumptions of our theorems.     

Warm-glow giving in networks with multiple public goods

This paper explores a voluntary contribution game in the presence of warm-glow effects. There are many public goods and each public good benefits a different group of players. The structure of the game induces a bipartite network structure, where players are listed on one side and the public good groups they form are listed on the other side. The main result of the paper shows the existence and uniqueness of a Nash equilibrium. The unique Nash equilibrium is also shown to be asymptotically stable. Then the paper provides some comparative statics analysis regarding pure redistribution, taxation and subsidies. It appears that small redistributions of wealth may sometimes be neutral, but generally, the effects of redistributive policies depend on how public good groups are related in the contribution network structure.     

Utility of a chiral 1,3-dioxane template in stereoselective intramolecular Diels-Alder reactions

The ethylidene acetal of d-erythrose was used as a template for stereoselective IMDA reactions: high endo selectivity and yields in favor of the cis product were observed with 1,3,9-trienes, resulting from a boat transition state. For natural product synthesis, the reaction was successfully applied to a diene with terminal Z-olefin.
