Nematodynamics is the orientation dynamics of flowless liquid-crystals. We show how Euler-Poincaré reduction produces a unifying framework for various theories, including Ericksen-Leslie, Luhiller-Rey, and Eringen??s micropolar theory. In particular, we show that these theories are all compatible with each other and some of them allow for more general configurations involving a non vanishing disclination density. All results are also extended to flowing liquid crystals.  相似文献

The reactivity of both the ester and amine functions present in β-amino esters was tested in order to obtain the synthesis of enantiopure αvβ3 and α5β1 integrin ligands. CaLB successfully catalyzed both the enantioselective transesterification and the N-acylation of racemic β-amino esters, allowing the isolation of intermediates for the preparation of Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) mimetic compounds. In particular, a CaLB-catalyzed amidation reaction with unprotected p-aminobenzylamine reduced the number of synthetic steps, thus avoiding protection and deprotection of the intermediate compounds. Following this procedure, RGD mimetics were isolated with high yields and enantiomeric purities.  相似文献

The applicability of thermogravimetry (TG) coupled to single photon ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TG-SPI-TOFMS) for evolved gas analysis (EGA) of coffee is demonstrated in this study. Coffee is a chemically well-known complex food product of large scientific and commercial interest. The roasting process of single green coffee beans (Arabica, Robusta) was simulated in the TG-SPI-TOFMS device, and the chemical composition of the evolved roasting gases was monitored on-line. Additionally, roasted and ground coffee powders of different types and brands as well as instant coffee were successfully investigated. For example, the diterpenes cafestol and kahweol can be detected among many other roasting products. These compounds can be of particular interest for quality control of coffee. It is shown that kahweol can be used as a tracer compound to discriminate arabica coffee species from robusta species.  相似文献

Abstract

This article reports that spectral phase coherence in the supercontinuum in long pulse regime can be measured simply and effectively by using an interference technique with the help of a Mach–Zehnder interferometer. It is also demonstrated that chromatic dispersion on the fringe visibility of interference spectral patterns is overcome in the setup. The technique is applied to characterize supercontinuum spectral phase coherence in a highly non-linear optical fiber with different input conditions: unseeded, coherent seeded, and incoherent seeded picosecond pumps. The results confirm the phase coherence characteristic predicted theoretically in previous studies.  相似文献

This study investigated the occurrence of tetracyclines (TCs), namely minocycline (MIN), TC, and its epimer epitetracycline (ETC), and doxycycline (DC), in four hospital wastewater effluents and its fate in municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), in Coimbra, Portugal. Analytical determination was carried out by solid-phase extraction followed by liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection. A gradient system with a mobile phase containing oxalic acid 0.02 M and acetonitrile was used. After postcolumn derivatization with magnesium reagent, TCs were detected at λ exc 386 nm and λ em 500 nm. The proposed method allowed good sensitivity, accuracy, and precision. LOQs were 0.5 μg l−1 for ETC and TC and 15 and 5 μg l−1 for MIN and DC, respectively. The recovery values ranged between 66.4% and 117.1%, and intraday and interday repeatability was lower than 6.8%. The method was successfully used to determine the presence of the above-mentioned TCs in 24 wastewater composite samples obtained from hospital effluents and from influent and effluent of the WWTP located in Coimbra, Portugal. MIN and TC were found in 41.7% of the samples; ETC and DC were found in 25% and 8.3% of the samples, respectively. The levels found ranged from 6 to 531.7 μg l−1 in hospital effluents, while its concentrations in WWTP ranged from 95.8 to 915.3 μg l−1. A seasonal influence in the concentrations found has also been observed, the levels found in samples collected during spring being higher than those observed in samples collected during autumn; however, these are only preliminary results. The WWTP removal rate ranged between 89.5% and 100%.  相似文献

We formulate Euler–Poincaré and Lagrange–Poincaré equations for systems with broken symmetry. We specialize the general theory to present explicit equations of motion for nematic systems, ranging from single nematic molecules to biaxial liquid crystals. The geometric construction applies to order parameter spaces consisting of either unsigned unit vectors (directors) or symmetric matrices (alignment tensors). On the Hamiltonian side, we provide the corresponding Poisson brackets in both Lie–Poisson and Hamilton–Poincaré formulations. The explicit form of the helicity invariant for uniaxial nematics is also presented, together with a whole class of invariant quantities (Casimirs) for two-dimensional incompressible flows.  相似文献

Wave-function-based computational techniques for describing electron correlation effects in periodic systems have a long history. Among early attempts, the method proposed by Colle and Salvetti (Theor Chim Acta 37:329, 1975) more than 30 years ago is noteworthy for its simplicity, power, and far-reaching consequences. The renewed interest in this topic is due to the well-known failure of techniques based on Density Functional Theory when it comes to obtaining very accurate estimates of some important quantities. Here we present the essential features of an ab initio code, ( CRYSCOR ) recently implemented (Phys Rev B 76: 075101, 075102, 2007), which solves the MP2 equations for crystals by adopting a local-correlation approach and using as a reference the Hartree-Fock solution provided by the CRYSTAL program. As an example of application, we discuss the MP2 corrections to the frequency of some vibrational modes in a proton-ordered structure of water ice (Ice XI).  相似文献

Interest in the mode of propagation of self-sustaining reactions has been motivated by the influence of the mode on the microstructure and composition of the final product. However, comprehensive studies relating the onset of the various propagation modes to the chemical and phase transformations taking place in the sample are still lacking. In the present work propagation instabilities in self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) of transition metal aluminides are studied using a computer simulation approach. The results are presented for the SHS of NiAl, CoAl, TiAl, and NbAl(3). Particular emphasis is made with respect to the influence of process variables and system parameters on the onset of propagation instabilities, in relation to the physicochemical processes taking place during the propagation of the combustion front.  相似文献
