Background  

Inflammation around cell bodies of primary sensory neurons and retinal ganglion cells enhances expression of neuronal growth-associated genes and stimulates axonal regeneration. We have asked if inflammation would have similar effects on corticospinal neurons, which normally show little response to spinal cord injury. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was applied onto the pial surface of the motor cortex of adult rats with or without concomitant injury of the corticospinal tract at C4. Inflammation around corticospinal tract cell bodies in the motor cortex was assessed by immunohistochemistry for OX42 (a microglia and macrophage marker). Expression of growth-associated genes c-jun, ATF3, SCG10 and GAP-43 was investigated by immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridisation.  相似文献

The dispersion characteristics and the fields of a helical resonator are obtained. The coil is approximated by a helical current layer with infinite conductivity along the current direction (a “sheath helix”). The plasma column is modeled as a cylindrical dielectric in which the dielectric losses can be neglected in determining the propagation properties of the resonator. Assuming the plasma losses are known, the model can be used to study the matching of the helical resonator to an external power source which is connected to the helix by a tap. The resonator is modeled as a parallel connection of two transmission line segments on each side of the tap position. We determine the efficiency of power transfer to the resonator as a function of the tap position driving frequency, and plasma loading. We find that whereas for a small plasma loading it is possible to achieve perfect matching, there exists a critical value of plasma loading beyond which a perfect match is no longer possible  相似文献

We study a class of second elliptic equations whose highest order coefficients vanish everywhere on the boundary. Under suitable conditions on the lower order coefficients, Langlais proved in 1985 that such equations have unique smooth solutions up to the boundary provided the data are smooth enough. Our goal here is to prove some Schauder estimates for these equations and to obtain results even in Lipschitz domains. In addition, we show that bounded solutions of such problems are as smooth as the data allow. A key step is to observe that smooth solutions must satisfy an oblique derivative boundary condition.  相似文献

We present a way of topologizing sets of Galois types over structures in abstract elementary classes with amalgamation. In the elementary case, the topologies thus produced refine the syntactic topologies familiar from first order logic. We exhibit a number of natural correspondences between the model‐theoretic properties of classes and their constituent models and the topological properties of the associated spaces. The velocities of Ar+ and Xe+ ions near the presheath-sheath boundary in an Ar/Xe discharge are studied by particle-in-cell Monte Carlo simulation. For a pure argon discharge the argon ion has almost the same velocity profile as it does in the mixture of argon and xenon. Similarly, for a xenon discharge the xenon ion has almost the same velocity profile as it does in the mixture of argon and xenon. The ion speed at the sheath-presheath boundary is the same for an ion in a pure argon or xenon discharge and for the same ion in a mixture of argon and xenon. We conclude that, in our simulation, each ion reaches its own Bohm speed at the presheath-sheath interface.  相似文献

The potential curves of the nl(2Λ) electronically excited states of the K**-He quasimolecule (n, l, and Λ are the principal quantum number, angular momentum, and its projection on the molecular axis) are calculated. To describe the interaction of the weakly bound electron with the singly charged potassium ion and the ground-state helium atom (with taking into account their long-range electrostatic interactions), the formalism of two-center scattering theory and the finite-range pseudopotential method are used. A comparison with the results of calculations performed by the MRD CI method is carried out. The findings showed that, for small principal quantum numbers n, these methods complement each other, because the first is more reliable for large interatomic distances, Rn, whereas second for small, R < n. The characteristic features of the behavior of the potential curves of the K**-He quasimolecule at large n and l are discussed.  相似文献

n-Pentyl-2-pyridyl ketoxime hydrochloride has been prepared and examined as a colorimetric reagent for copper. It is less sensitive than some reagents, but shows a remarkable selectivity toward copper. The copper(I) -oxime compound can be extracted into isoamyl alcohol or into chloroform. In isoamyl alcohol the colored compound conforms to Beer's law in concentrations up to 5.6 · 10-4M and has a molar absorptivity of 2650 at 360 mμ. A procedure for the colorimetric determination of copper is given and its reliability is shown.  相似文献
