BIFURCATION ANALYSIS IN A GENERALIZED FRICTION MODEL WITH TIME-DELAYED FEEDBACK

In this paper, we consider a generalized model of the two friction models, both of which have two different types of control forces with time-delayed feedback proposed by Ashesh Sara et al. By taking the time delay as the bifurcation parameter, we discuss the local stability of the Hopf bifurcations. Under some condition, the generalized model harbors a phenomenon that the equilibrium may undergo finite switches from stability to instability to stability and finally become unstable. By applying the method introduced by Faria and Magalhaes, we compute the normal form on the center manifold to determine the direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcations. Numerical simulations are carried out and more than one periodic solutions may exist according to the bifurcation diagram given by BIFTOOL. Finally a brief conclusion is presented.     

An integrated inventory model with quality improvement and two-part credit policy

Trade credit financing plays a vital role in current business operations. Vendors extend payment dates to encourage sales, and buyers are not required to pay immediately after receiving products. This is equivalent to receiving a price reduction. Besides, buyers reduce their need for capital from bank loans. In addition, a number of defective products are produced during the production process. The number of defective items influences the on-hand inventory levels of buyers, service levels, and frequency of orders. To ensure that the analysis incorporates a realistic production environment, we developed an integrated inventory model with a two-part trade credit and considered an imperfect production process that can be improved by capital investment. The objective was to determine the optimal ordering, shipping, and quality improvement policies to maximize joint total profit. An iterative algorithm was established to determine the optimal strategy. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to examine the effects of changing parameter values on the optimal solution.     

Heterogeneity in initial resource configurations improves a network-based hybrid recommendation algorithm

Network-based recommendation algorithms for user–object link predictions have achieved significant developments in recent years. For bipartite graphs, the resource reallocation in such algorithms is analogous to heat spreading (HeatS) or probability spreading (ProbS) processes. The best algorithm to date is a hybrid of the HeatS and ProbS techniques with homogeneous initial resource configurations, which fulfills simultaneously high accuracy and large diversity requirements. We investigate the effect of heterogeneity in initial configurations on the HeatS + ProbS hybrid algorithm and find that both recommendation accuracy and diversity can be further improved in this new setting. Numerical experiments show that the improvement is robust.

Variable-rate colour image quantization based on quadtree segmentation

A novel variable-sized block encoding with threshold control for colour image quantization (CIQ) is presented in this paper. In CIQ, the colour palette used has a great influence on the reconstructed image quality. Typically, a higher image quality and a larger storage cost are obtained when a larger-sized palette is used in CIQ. To cut down the storage cost while preserving quality of the reconstructed images, the threshold control policy for quadtree segmentation is used in this paper. Experimental results show that the proposed method adaptively provides desired bit rates while having better image qualities comparing to CIQ with the usage of multiple palettes of different sizes.     

二维正弦离散映射的分岔和吸引子

由一个正弦映射和一个三次方映射通过非线性耦合,构成一个新的二维正弦离散映射. 基于此二维正弦离散映射得到系统的不动点以及相应的特征值,分析了系统的稳定性,研究了系统的复杂非线性动力学行为及其吸引子的演变过程. 研究结果表明：此二维正弦离散映射中存在复杂的对称性破缺分岔、Hopf分岔、倍周期分岔和周期振荡快慢效应等非线性物理现象. 进一步根据控制变量变化时系统的分岔图、Lyapunov指数图和相轨迹图分析了系统的分岔模式共存、快慢周期振荡及其吸引子的演变过程,通过数值仿真验证了理论分析的正确性. 关键词： 正弦离散映射 对称性破缺分岔 Hopf分岔 吸引子     

Volume polarization holographic recording in thick phenanthrenequinone-doped poly(methyl methacrylate) photopolymer

Volume polarization holographic recording in phenanthrenequinone-doped poly (methyl methacrylate) photopolymer is obtained. Photoinduced birefringence in a 2 mm thick sample is measured by a phase-modulated ellipsometry. The birefringence induced in this material by linearly polarized beam at 514 nm reaches 1.2×10(-5). In addition, ability for recording volume polarization grating using two different polarization configurations is demonstrated and compared. The experimental results show that the diffraction efficiency of the hologram reaches to ～40% by using two orthogonal circularly polarized beams.     

Atomistic simulation of slow grain boundary motion

Existing atomistic simulation techniques to study grain boundary motion are usually limited to either high velocities or temperatures and are difficult to compare to realistic experimental conditions. Here we introduce an adapted simulation method that can access boundary velocities in the experimental range and extract mobilities in the zero driving force limit at temperatures as low as ～0.2T(m) (T(m) is the melting point). The method reveals three mechanistic regimes of boundary mobility at zero net velocity depending on the system temperature.     

SnS Nanosheets for 105th Harmonic Soliton Molecule Generation

As a member of the 2D group IV monochalcogenides (MX; M = Sn, Ge; X = S, Se), SnS has attracted great interest due to its outstanding optical, electrical, and optoelectronic properties. Especially, SnS nanosheets material have a large absorption coefficient and high photoelectric conversion efficiency, it can be potentially used in optical modulators, saturable absorbers, solar cells, supercapacitors, and other optical devices. However, the nonlinear optical properties of SnS nanosheets and their applications in ultrafast photonics are seldom studied. In this paper, the nonlinear optical properties of SnS nanosheets have been characterized through a dual‐balance detection system, whose modulation depth is 5.8%. More importantly, 105th harmonic soliton molecule based on SnS saturable absorbers has been realized for the first time to the authors’ knowledge. A compact mode‐locked fiber laser with a pulse duration of 1.02 ps and a repetition rate of 459 MHz is realized near 1.5 µm. It is demonstrated that SnS nanosheets have outstanding nonlinear properties and play an extremely important role in the field of ultrafast photonics.     

基于跳距修正L-M优化的WSN定位算法

针对DV-Hop定位算法在节点随机分布的网络拓扑环境下存在误差较大的问题,文中通过分析平均跳距估计、未知节点坐标估计区域求解对定位精度的影响,提出了一种基于跳距修正L-M优化的WSN定位算法CLDV-Hop(Correct L-M DV-Hop)。仿真结果表明,在不增加额外开销且仿真环境相同的条件下,CLDV-Hop算法比现有改进的算法具有更高的定位精度,与DV-Hop算法相比精度提高了约33%——41%。
