Imaging the effects of an impurity like Zn in high-Tc superconductors [Nature 61 (2000) 746] has rekindled interest in defect problems in the superconducting phase. This has prompted us here to re-examine the early work of March and Murray [Phys. Rev. 120 (1960) 830] on the linear response function in an initially translationally invariant Fermi gas. In particular, we present corresponding results for a superconductor at zero temperature, both in the s- and in the d-wave case, and mention their direct physical relevance in the case when the impurity potential is highly localized. 相似文献

Among the configurations to generate plasma in electrically conductive liquids only the diaphragm and the capillary discharge
schemes allow to generate plasma which is not in contact with one of the electrodes. Based on this concept, this work reports
for the first time the development of an underwater plasma pump, in which the periodic electrical breakdown inside an asymmetrical
(sub-)millimetre hole results in a net flow of aqueous solution through the hole without the use of any moving parts such
as valves or diaphragms typically used in micropumps. Certain capillary geometries feature very stable flow rates and even
allow altering flow direction by changing the power. By varying the hole’s dimensions, the range of time-independent flow
rates covers more than one order of magnitude and as the discharge produces some of the strongest oxidants available, we believe

Catechol‐O‐methyltransferase (COMT), an important therapeutic target in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, is also being developed for biocatalytic processes, including vanillin production, although lack of regioselectivity has precluded its more widespread application. By using structural and mechanistic information, regiocomplementary COMT variants were engineered that deliver either meta‐ or para‐methylated catechols. X‐ray crystallography further revealed how the active‐site residues and quaternary structure govern regioselectivity. Finally, analogues of AdoMet are accepted by the regiocomplementary COMT mutants and can be used to prepare alkylated catechols, including ethyl vanillin. 相似文献

We first present the equation of state (EOS) of a relativistic homogeneous electron gas in the exchange only approximation. We then go on to use this result to determine approximately the EOS of the heavy metals Pu and Ta. An essential ingredient is the electron density at the boundary of the Wigner-Seitz polyhedron and we determine this density using relativistic Thomas-Fermi theory. 相似文献
