Angiogenesis is a crucial step in many pathological conditions like cancer, inflammation and metastasis formation; on these basis the search for antiangiogenic agents has widened. In order to identify new compounds able to interfere in the Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-1 (VEGFR-1, also known as Flt-1) recognition by VEGFs family members, we screened Calycolpus moritzianus (O. Berg) Burret leaves extracts by a competitive ELISA-based assay. MeOH and CHCl3 extracts and several their fractions demonstrated to be able to prevent VEGF or PlGF interaction with Flt-1, with an inhibition about 50% at concentration of 100 microg/mL. Phytochemical and pharmacological investigation of the active fractions led to the isolation of flavonoids, and terpenes. 相似文献

In the last years several authors have used Lubich convolution quadrature formulas to discretize space-time boundary integral
equations representing time dependent problems. These rules have the fundamental property of not using explicitly the expression
of the kernel of the integral equation they are applied to, which is instead replaced by that of its Laplace transform, usually
given by a simple analytic function. In this paper, a review of these rules, which includes their main properties, several
new remarks and some conjectures, will be presented when they are applied to the heat and wave space-time boundary integral
equation formulations. The construction and behavior of the corresponding coefficients are analyzed and tested numerically.

Ubiquinone-10 plays a central role in energy production and its reduced form, ubiquinol-10 is also capable of acting as a potent radical scavenging antioxidant against membrane lipid peroxidation. Efficiency of this protection depends mostly on its localization in lipid bilayer. The intrinsic fluorescence of ubiquinol-10 and of the exogenous probe, Laurdan, has been used to determine the location of ubiquinol-10 in unilamellar liposomes of egg phosphatidylcholine (EggPC) and dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine. Laurdan fluorescence moiety is positioned at the hydrophilic-hydrophobic interface of the phospholipid bilayer and its parameters reflect the membrane polarity and microheterogeneity, which we have used to explore the coexistence of microdomains with distinct physical properties. In liquid-crystalline bilayers ubiquinol has a short fluorescence lifetime (0.4 ns) and a high steady-state anisotropy. In a concentration-dependent manner, ubiquinol-10 influences the Laurdan excitation, emission and generalized polarization measurements. In EggPC liposomes ubiquinol-10 induces a decrease in membrane water mobility near the probe, while in dimyristoyl liposomes a decrease in the membrane water content was found. Moreover the presence of ubiquinol results in the formation of coexisting phospholipid domains of gel and liquid-crystalline phases. The results indicate that ubiquinol-10 molecules are mainly located at the polar-lipid interface, inducing changes in the physico-chemical properties of the bilayer microenvironment. 相似文献

Enzymatic microcalorimetry has been successfully employed in the reliable determination of the l-malic acid concentration in some foods and cosmetic products. The l-malic acid concentration during the wine-making process is particularly useful in order to control the progress of the malo-lactic fermentation. Total acidity, taste and flavour characteristics of wine depend on the l-malic acid quantity still present.To point out the analytical methodology the dehydration process of l-malic acid, in the presence of Fumarase enzyme, has been used. The new method has been compared with a common spectrophotometric one.By the proposed calorimetric method the l-malic acid concentration in different types of food (white and red wines, fruits and soft beverages) has been determined. In some cosmetic products too the l-malic acid was quantified.The method outlined resulted simple, direct and reliable (good accuracy and precision), in particular it does not require any pre-treatment or clean up of the samples, save the dilution in buffer. 相似文献

Statistical evaluations of the economic mobility of a society are more difficult than measurements of the income distribution, because they require to follow the evolution of the individuals’ income for at least one or two generations. In micro-to-macro theoretical models of economic exchanges based on kinetic equations, the income distribution depends only on the asymptotic equilibrium solutions, while mobility estimates also involve the detailed structure of the transition probabilities of the model, and are thus an important tool for assessing its validity. Empirical data show a remarkably general negative correlation between economic inequality and mobility, whose explanation is still unclear. It is therefore particularly interesting to study this correlation in analytical models. In previous work we investigated the behavior of the Gini inequality index in kinetic models in dependence on several parameters which define the binary interactions and the taxation and redistribution processes: saving propensity, taxation rates gap, tax evasion rate, welfare means-testing etc. Here, we check the correlation of mobility with inequality by analyzing the mobility dependence from the same parameters. In vivo B(0) inhomogeneity in the rat brain at 11.7 Tesla was measured and decomposed up to the fourth-order spherical harmonic terms using an automatic slice shimming routine derived from the FLATNESS method. In vivo shimming of horizontal slices showed that significant improvement in the T(2)*-weighted echo-planar imaging was achieved after correction of all first-, second- and third-order in-slice shims. For localized proton spectroscopy, reproducible, high quality data were obtained after correcting all first- and second-order shims. The measured high-order in vivo B(0) inhomogeneity in terms of spherical harmonic terms should provide a useful guide for designing shims to meet in vivo requirements. 相似文献
