In this paper we develop a general theory of the spin dynamics of anisotropic Fermi superfluids of the generalized BCS type, under conditions which should be realistic for any such phase of liquid 3He occurring below 3 mK. No restrictions are placed on the nature of the pairing configuration. The system is described in terms of the total spin vector S, and a vector T(n) which describes the amplitude and spin quantization axes of the pairs forming at a given point n on the Fermi surface; the kinematic relations between these quantities are emphasized. An approximation of the Born-Oppenheimer type is used to derive the general equations of motion of S and T; it is pointed out that relaxation of T due to collisions is inhibited by the coherent nature of the superfluid state. The equations of motion are solved for the particular case of unsaturated c.w. resonance, and it is shown that the nature of the transverse (usual) resonance spectrum is a strong function of the kind of configuration occurring; in particular, either one or two finite-frequency resonances may occur, depending on the configuration. A resonance is also predicted to occur when the r.f. field is polarized along the static external field. Specific predictions of the form of the transverse and “longitudinal” spectra are made for all the unitary l = 1 states, and it is shown that these predictions are unaffected by renormalization effects. The “Balian-Werthamer” state is predicted to show a longitudinal resonance but no transverse shift. The theory is compared with other approaches to the problem and its relevance to the anomalous low-temperature phases of liquid 3He is discussed.  相似文献

Generalized Witt algebras, over a field of characteristic , were defined by Kawamoto about 12 years ago. Using different notations from Kawamoto's, we give an essentially equivalent definition of generalized Witt algebras over , where the ingredients are an abelian group , a vector space over , and a map which is linear in the first variable and additive in the second one. In this paper, the derivations of any generalized Witt algebra
, with the right kernel of being , are explicitly described; the isomorphisms between any two simple generalized Witt algebras are completely determined; and the second cohomology group for any simple generalized Witt algebra is computed. The derivations, the automorphisms and the second cohomology groups of some special generalized Witt algebras have been studied by several other authors as indicated in the references.

A novel mild etch is reported for the fabrication of three-dimensional structures in gold films when used in conjunction with an alkylthiol resist. This etch consists of a solution of mercaptoethylamine in ethanol to which a small amount of ammonium hydroxide has been added. Using mask-based photolithography, micron-scale features have been created that exhibit good edge definition. For long-chain thiols, there is little tendency for the regions protected by thiols to be eroded on extended exposure to the etch solution. In conjunction with scanning near-field photolithography, the new etch solution enables the fabrication of nanoscale structures with dimensions significantly smaller than the conventional diffraction limit.  相似文献

Contrary to what has been observed thus far collision-induced light scattering (CILS) can be completely polarized. This exceptional behavior characterizes the very far wing of the binary CILS spectrum by gaseous helium. This conclusion is drawn from an experimental study of the depolarization ratio of He (2) in a much extended, previously unexplored, spectral domain. Our analysis shows that this property, unique thus far, is mainly due to an almost perfect cancellation between polarization and exchange pair polarizability contributions to the depolarized spectrum, taking place at internuclear distances shorter than the atomic diameter.  相似文献

Three sharp absorption features in the energy range 2.36–2.55 eV have been detected in the transmission spectrum of Co-diffused ZnSe, and a number of luminescence transitions originating from the lowest of these states at 2.361 eV have been observed. Photoluminescence excitation spectra prove that these are high energy excited states of the Co2+Zn impurity, a conclusion confirmed by comparison of measured and predicted luminescence energies. This represents the first identification of luminescence branching from a higher excited state of a transition metal ion in any semiconductor. The sharp, weakly phonon-coupled transitions involve either intra-impurity excitation or transitions from the impurity to localised states split off from a minimum in the conduction band. The implications of these observations for the mechanism of host-impurity energy transfer and for the nature of the excited state wavefunctions are discussed.  相似文献

The implementation of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) detection in a low-temperature dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) setup is presented. Using a coil oriented parallel to the static magnetic field, the change of the longitudinal magnetization of free radicals is measured upon resonant irradiation of an amplitude or frequency modulated microwave (mw) field. The absorption EPR spectrum is measured if the amplitude of the mw field is modulated, whilst the first derivative of the spectrum is obtained with frequency modulation. Using a burst of pulses, it is also possible to perform pump-probe experiments such as saturation-recovery or electron-electron double resonance experiments. Furthermore, the magnetization could be monitored in a time-resolved manner during amplitude modulation, thus making it possible to record its transient as it is approaching an equilibrium value. Experimental examples are shown with frozen solutions of trityl radical and TEMPO, two commonly used radicals for dissolution DNP experiments.  相似文献

We compare the results of small angle neutron scattering on the flux line lattice (FLL) obtained in the borocarbide superconductor LuNi2B2C with the applied field along the c- and a-axes. For H‖c the temperature dependence of the FLL structural phase transition from square to hexagonal symmetry was investigated. Above 10 K the transition onset field. H 2(T), rises sharply, bending away from H c2(T) in contradiction to theoretical predictions of the two merging. For H‖a a first order FLL reorientation transition is observed at H tr=3–3.5 kOe. Below H tr the FLL nearest neighbor direction is parallel to the b-axis, and above H tr to the c-axis. This transition cannot be explained using nonlocal corrections to the London model.  相似文献
