Extraction of molybdenum and technetium with diamides of dipicolinic acid from nitric acid solutions

The concentration of molybdenum(VI) in dissolved spent nuclear fuel is comparable with the concentrations of Tc, and the minor
actinides (Np, Am). Therefore it is of great interest to understand its behavior under conditions imposed by separation processes.
The simultaneous extraction ability of ortho, meta, and para isomers of N,N′-diethyl-N,N′-ditolyl-dipicolinamide (EtTDPA) for molybdenum and technetium were investigated in a large range of nitric and hydrochloric
acid conditions. Molybdenum shows no increase in extraction at higher concentrations of nitric acid giving a solvate number
n=0 with all isomers of EtTDPA, while Mo shows great extractability from HCl. Technetium distribution ratios decrease with
increasing concentrations of nitrate showing indication of ion exchange occurring between TcO4
− and NO3
− anions. Et(m)TDPA and Et(p)TDPA show the greatest extractability, with 60% of the total technetium extracted into the organic

The acid-catalyzed formation of carbon-carbon bonds from C1 precursors via CO insertion into chemisorbed methyl groups occurs selectively within eight-membered ring (8-MR) zeolite channels. This elementary step controls catalytic carbonylation rates of dimethyl ether (DME) to methyl acetate. The number of O-H groups within 8-MR channels was measured by rigorous deconvolution of the infrared bands for O-H groups in cation-exchanged and acid forms of mordenite (M,H-MOR) and ferrierite (H-FER) after adsorption of basic probe molecules of varying size. DME carbonylation rates are proportional to the number of O-H groups within 8-MR channels. Na+ cations selectively replaced protons within 8-MR channels and led to a disproportionate decrease in carbonylation turnover rates (per total H+). These conclusions are consistent with the low or undetectable rates of carbonylation on zeolites without 8-MR channels (H-BEA, H-FAU, H-MFI). Such specificity of methyl reactivity upon confinement within small channels appears to be unprecedented in catalysis by microporous solids, which typically select reactions by size exclusion of bulkier transition states. 相似文献

Protein‐ligand docking is a commonly used method for lead identification and refinement. While traditional structure‐based docking methods represent the receptor as a rigid body, recent developments have been moving toward the inclusion of protein flexibility. Proteins exist in an interconverting ensemble of conformational states, but effectively and efficiently searching the conformational space available to both the receptor and ligand remains a well‐appreciated computational challenge. To this end, we have developed the Flexible CDOCKER method as an extension of the family of complete docking solutions available within CHARMM. This method integrates atomically detailed side chain flexibility with grid‐based docking methods, maintaining efficiency while allowing the protein and ligand configurations to explore their conformational space simultaneously. This is in contrast to existing approaches that use induced‐fit like sampling, such as Glide or Autodock, where the protein or the ligand space is sampled independently in an iterative fashion. Presented here are developments to the CHARMM docking methodology to incorporate receptor flexibility and improvements to the sampling protocol as demonstrated with re‐docking trials on a subset of the CCDC/Astex set. These developments within CDOCKER achieve docking accuracy competitive with or exceeding the performance of other widely utilized docking programs. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

In this study, molecular dynamics simulation is used to investigate the effects of water-based substitutional defects in zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF)-8 membranes on their reverse osmosis (RO) desalination performance. ZIF-8 unit cells containing up to three defect sites are used to construct the membranes. These substitutional defects can either be Zn defects or linker defects. The RO desalination performance of the membranes is assessed in terms of the water flux and ion rejection rate. The effects of defects on the interactions between the ZIF-8 membranes and NaCl are investigated and explained with respect to the radial distribution function (RDF) and ion density distribution. The results show that ion adsorption on the membranes occurs at either the nitrogen atoms or the defect sites. Complete NaCl rejection can be achieved by introducing defects to change the size of the pores. It has also been discovered that the presence of linker defects increases membrane hydrophilicity. Overall, molecular dynamics simulations have been used in this study to show that water-based substitutional defects in a ZIF-8 structure reduce the water flux and influence its hydrophilicity and ion adsorption performance, which is useful in predicting the type and number of defect sites per unit cell required for RO applications. Of the seven ZIF-8 structures tested, pristine ZIF-8 exhibits the best RO desalination performance. 相似文献

Measurement of mixing processes with combined digital particle image velocimetry and planar laser induced fluorescence 总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9
A combined digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) and planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) approach was developed to measure both the time mean and turbulent mass transport in mixing processes. The system couples the two well-known techniques to enable synchronized planar measurements of flow velocities and concentrations in a study area. The potential interference effect between the seeding particles for DPIV and the fluorescent dye excitation for PLIF was carefully investigated. The performance of the system was verified with the experimental results of a turbulent round jet discharging into a stagnant environment. Comparison between the measurements obtained in the present study with the large body of existing information on pure jets is satisfactory. The key advantage of the shorter duration required with this approach compared to point-based techniques is highlighted. 相似文献

a field of parallel null 4-planes, whence the metric is of neutral signature. We construct on
explicit almost K?hler-Einstein Walker metrics which are not K?hler. An appropriate restriction induces examples of such
metrics on the 8-torus, thereby producing a counterexample to Goldberg’s conjecture in the case of neutral signature.

This study reports the effect of vertical baffles on the group D powder mixing and drying characteristics in a batch fluidized bed dryer. Results obtained in this study showed that operating the fluidized bed dryer with vertical baffles gave better particle mixing. This is due to the fact that the vertical baffles acted to limit the growth of small bubbles into large bubbles and the small bubbles caused more vigorous mixing in the bed of particles before finally erupting at the bed surface. Thus, insertion of vertical baffles is a useful way to process group D particles in a fluidized bed, especially when the fluidized bed is large. 相似文献
