Solid-state photolysis of 1a,b yields selectively cis-3a,b. X-ray analysis of 1a,b reveals the molecules adopt an extended structure and as such the crystal packing arrangement consists of planar, pi-stacked molecules. The shortest intermolecular distance between adjacent N-atoms is approximately 3.76 A and would lead to formation of trans-3a,b, whereas cis-3a,b is formed by dimerization between N-atoms that are approximately 3.9 A apart. We propose that the molecular orbital alignment of the adjacent nitrenes controls the solid-state reactivity.  相似文献

A sequential injection analysis procedure with dual-reagent chemiluminescence detection was applied to the screening of street drug seizure samples for the presence of heroin. The chemiluminescence reagents (acidic potassium permanganate and tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(III)) were aspirated from either side of a sample aliquot that was sufficiently large to prevent interdispersion of the reagent zones, and therefore two different chemical reactions could be performed simultaneously at either end of the sample zone. The presence of heroin in seizure samples was indicated by a strong response with the tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(III) reagent and confirmed by a significant increase in the response with the permanganate reagent when the sample was treated with sodium hydroxide to hydrolyse the heroin to morphine. Nicomorphine (a morphine-derived pharmaceutical) was synthesised and tested under the same conditions. The responses with the permanganate reagent were similar to those for heroin, which supports the proposed chemical basis for the test. However, the responses with tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(III) were far lower for nicomorphine than heroin (approximately 5-fold for the samples that had not been hydrolysed).  相似文献

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous materials with high surface areas, which are acquiring rapid attention on an exponential basis. A significant characteristic of MOFs is their ability to act as adsorbents to selectively separate component mixtures of similar size, thereby addressing the technological need for an alternative approach to conventional distillation methods. Recently, MOFs comprising a 3-Dimensional (3D) linker have shown outstanding capabilities for difficult separations compared to the parent 2-Dimensional (2D) analogue. 3D-linkers with a polycyclic core are underrepresented in the MOF database due to the widespread preferred use of 2D-linkers and the misconceived high-cost of 3D linkers. We summarize the recent research of 3D-linker MOFs and highlight their beneficial employment for selective gas and hydrocarbon adsorption and separation. Furthermore, we outline forecasts in this area to create a platform for widespread adoption of 3D-linkers in MOF synthesis.  相似文献

We developed a system to encode digital information in DNA polymers based on the partial restriction digest (PRD). Our encoding method relies on the length of the fragments obtained by the PRD rather than the actual content of the nucleotide sequence, thus eliminating the need for expensive sequencing machinery. In this letter, we report on the encoding of 12 bits of data in a DNA fragment of 110 nucleotides and the process of recovering the data.  相似文献

Carbon-heteroatom bond formation from copper(III) is commonly invoked as a key step in catalytic reactions, including the century-old Ullmann reactions. Well-defined examples of such reactions have never been observed. Here, we demonstrate that a well-defined Cu(III)-aryl species reacts with a variety nitrogen nucleophiles to undergo facile carbon-nitrogen bond formation.  相似文献

Long wavelength voltage-sensitive dyes (VSDs) called Pittsburgh (PGH) dyes were recently synthesized by coupling various heterocyclic groups to a styryl-thiophene intermediate forming extended, partially rigid chromophores. Unlike most styryl VSDs, dyes with a sulfonic acid anchor directly attached to the chromophore showed no solvatochromic absorption shifts. The limited water solubility of many long wavelength VSDs requires the use of surfactants to transport the dye through physiological saline solutions and effectively label biological membranes. Here, we tested the chemical substitution of the sulfonic acid moiety with polyethyleneglycol (PEG) chains, ranging from MW 750 to 5000, to overcome the poor solubility of VSDs while retaining their properties as VSDs. The chemical synthesis of PGH dyes and their PEG derivatives are described. The PEG derivatives were soluble in aqueous solutions (>1 mM) and still reported membrane potential changes. In frog and mouse hearts, the voltage sensitivity (DeltaF/F per action potential) and spectral properties of PEG dyes were the same as the sulfonated analogues. Thus, the solubility of VSDs can be considerably improved with small polyethyleneglycol chains and can provide an effective approach to improve staining of excitable tissues and optical recordings of membrane potential.  相似文献

We demonstrate the use of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging for direct detection of small-molecule binding to surface-bound DNA probes. Using a carefully designed array surface, we quantitatively discriminate between the interactions of a model drug with different immobilized DNA binding sites. Specifically, we measure the association and dissociation intercalation rates of actinomycin-D (ACTD) to and from double-stranded 5'-TGCT-3' and 5'-GGCA-3' binding sites. The rates measured provide mechanistic information about the DNA-ACTD interaction; ACTD initially binds nonspecifically to DNA but exerts its activity by dissociating slowly from strong affinity sites. We observe a slow dissociation time of kd-1 = 3300 +/- 100 s for ACTD bound to the strong affinity site 5'-TGCT-3' and a much faster dissociation time (210 +/- 15 s) for ACTD bound weakly to the site 5'-GGCA-3'. These dissociation rates, which differ by an order of magnitude, determine the binding affinity for each site (8.8 x 10(6) and 1.0 x 10(6) M(-1), respectively). We assess the effect the surface environment has on these biosensor measurements by determining kinetic and thermodynamic constants for the same DNA-ACTD interactions in solution. The surface suppresses binding affinities approximately 4-fold for both binding sites. This suppression suggests a barrier to DNA-drug association; ACTD binding to duplex DNA is approximately 100 times slower on the surface than in solution.  相似文献
