Purpose

To determine the feasibility of post-gadolinium three-dimensional gradient-echo (3D-GE) sequence for the evaluation of the pulmonary arterial vasculature in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism (PE) and in patients with a variety of other disease processes.

Materials and Methods

Twenty-six consecutive patients (18 females, 8 males; mean age±S.D., 46.6±21.1 years) who underwent chest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including post-gadolinium 3D-GE sequence for the evaluation of PE (Group A, n=13) and a variety of other disease processes (Group B, n=13) were included in the study. Post-gadolinium 3D-GE MR sequences were retrospectively, independently and blindly evaluated by two reviewers for the image quality of pulmonary arterial vasculature, and findings of PE and other disease processes. Clinical and imaging follow-up data for all patients were obtained. Interobserver agreement was calculated by kappa statistics.

Results

All central and lobar pulmonary arteries, 71.4–89.6% of segmental arteries and 46.7–52.7% of subsegmental arterial units in both groups were visualized with sufficient diagnostic image quality on post-gadolinium 3D-GE sequences. PE involving lobar and segmental arteries was diagnosed in two patients in each group. Other disease processes including pneumonia, lung nodules, superior vena cava stenosis, lung metastases, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and aortic aneurysm were detected in 10 of 26 patients. There was good to excellent interobserver agreement (0.73 to 1.00) for all findings.

Conclusion

Post-gadolinium 3D-GE sequence may be an alternative technique for the visualization of central, lobar and segmental arteries, and may diagnose PE and other pathologies involving the chest in different patient populations.  相似文献

In this paper, we provide a novel reformulation of sufficient conditions that guarantee global complete synchronisation of coupled identical oscillators to make them computationally implementable. To this end, we use semidefinite programming techniques. For the first time, we can efficiently search for and obtain certificates for synchronisability and, additionally, also optimise associated cost functions. In this paper, a Lyapunov-like function (certificate) is used to certify that all trajectories of a networked system consisting of coupled dynamical systems will eventually converge towards a common one, which implies synchronisation. Moreover, we establish new conditions for complete synchronisation, which are based on the so called Bendixson’s Criterion for higher dimensional systems. This leads to major improvements on the lower bound of the coupling constant that guarantees global complete synchronisation. Importantly, the certificates are obtained by analysing the connection network and the model representing an individual system only. In order to illustrate the strength of our method we apply it to a system of coupled identical Lorenz oscillators and to coupled van der Pol oscillators.  相似文献

We calculate the medium dilepton yield from a quark-gluon plasma which has a time-dependent local momentum-space anisotropy. A phenomenological model for the hard momentum scale, p(hard)(tau), and plasma anisotropy parameter, xi(tau), is constructed which interpolates between longitudinal free streaming at early times (tautau(iso)). We show that high-energy dilepton production is sensitive to the plasma isotropization time, tau(iso), and can therefore be used to experimentally determine the time of onset for hydrodynamic expansion of a quark-gluon plasma and the magnitude of expected early-time momentum-space anisotropies.  相似文献

Abstract— The effect of the protonation state of a novel aqueous soluble N,N'-di(2-phosphonoethyl)-l,4,5,8-naphthalene-diimide (DPN) on its spectroscopic properties is studied. In aqueous solution DPN depicts linear Lambert-Beer plots up to the solubility limits at pH 1.0, 7.1 and 10.1, in accordance with its solubilization as a monomer. A small increase in the extinction coefficients with pH is observed. Conversely a strong decrease in the fluorescence emission yields are observed with the increase in pH. These results are shown to originate from the distinct efficiencies of the intersystem crossing of DPN as a function of the net charge on the phosphono moieties. Accordingly, from the decrease in fluorescence emission, titration curves were obtained resulting in two pKa of –1.5 and 6.7 in agreement with the potentiometric analysis. In parallel monitoring the amount of heat deposited in the system shows an inverse pattern, that is, increase in the thermal tensing time-resolved signal with pH. Laser flash photolysis and thermal Iensing data in the absence and presence of oxygen show the interplay of an intersystem crossing process with the protonation state of the dye. The changes in protonation from neutral to two- and four-fold charged species are accompanied by an enhancing effect on the naphthalenediimide ring toward spin inversion (triplet formation) and consequently in different fluorescence yields  相似文献

Purpose

The purpose was to objectively evaluate a recently FDA-approved gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) in comparison to our standard GBCA for acute adverse events and image quality by blinded evaluation.

Methods

Evaluation was made of a recently FDA-approved GBCA, gadobutrol (Gadavist; Bayer), in comparison to our standard GBCA, gadobenate dimeglumine (MultiHance; Bracco), in an IRB- and HIPAA-compliant study. Both the imaging technologist and patient were not aware of the brand of the GBCA used. A total of 59 magnetic resonance studies were evaluated (59 patients, 31 men, 28 women, age range of 5–85 years, mean age of 52 years). Twenty-nine studies were performed with gadobutrol (22 abdominal and 7 brain studies), and 30 studies were performed with gadobenate dimeglumine (22 abdominal and 8 brain studies). Assessment was made of acute adverse events focusing on objective observations of vomiting, hives, and moderate and severe reactions. Adequacy of enhancement was rated as poor, fair and good by one of two experienced radiologists who were blinded to the type of agent evaluated.

Results

No patient experienced acute adverse events with either agent. The target minor adverse events of vomiting or hives, and moderate and severe reactions were not observed in any patient. Adequacy of enhancement was rated as good for both agents in all patients.

Conclusions

Objective, blinded evaluation is feasible and readily performable for the evaluation of GBCAs. This proof-of-concept study showed that both GBCAs evaluated exhibited consistent good image quality and no noteworthy adverse events.  相似文献

In this study, the essential oil (EO) from Laurelia sempervirens was analyzed by GC/MS and safrole (1) was identified as the major metabolite 1, was subjected to direct reactions on the oxygenated groups in the aromatic ring and in the side chain, and eight compounds (4 to 12) were obtained by the process. EO and compounds 4–12 were subjected to biological assays on 24 strains of the genus Saprolegnia, specifically of the species 12 S. parasitica and 12 S. australis. EO showed a significant effect against Saprolegnia strains. Compound 6 presents the highest activity against two resistant strains, with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum oomyceticidal concentration (MOC) values of 25 to 100 and 75 to 125 µg/mL, respectively. The results show that compound 6 exhibited superior activities compared to the commercial controls bronopol and azoxystrobin used to combat these pathogens.  相似文献
