This study evaluate intraoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as predictor of tissue damage following cryoablation of porcine liver with and without concomitant hepatic vascular inflow occlusion.Inflow occlusion was used during freezing in 6 of 12 pigs included. The volumes of the procedural ice-balls were estimated from MR images. Immediately after thawing contrast (MnDPDP) enhanced MRI was performed to estimate the volume of the cryolesion. Four days after ablation MRI was repeated of the in-vivo and the ex-vivo liver. Photography was performed of the sliced liver specimens to estimate the volumes of the lesions. The intraoperative volume of the cryolesion as shown by contrast enhanced MRI corresponded well to the ice-ball volume for lesions made without vascular occlusion (difference 0.3 +/- 0.9 cm(3), p = 0.239). For lesions made during occlusion the volume of the intraoperative cryolesion was larger than the corresponding ice-ball (difference 7.5 +/- 3.3 cm(3), p = 0.003). The volume of the cryolesions as estimated from histopathology four days after freezing and contrast enhanced MRI immediately after freezing corresponded well for lesions made with (difference -2.6 +/- 4.5 cm(3), p = 0.110) and without vascular occlusion (difference -0.5 +/- 2.3 cm(3), p = 0.695).Intraoperative MnDPDP-enhanced MRI of the cryolesion is predictive of the tissue damage induced during cryoablation of porcine liver. Diffractive optical beam splitters designed with iterative Fourier transform type algorithms can produce only certain diffraction angles given by the spatial frequencies used for the computations, which are multiples of a certain base spatial frequency. We have examined the magnetic properties of the heavy electron compounds
YbAgGe and YbPtIn by 170Yb M?ssbauer spectroscopy down to 0.1 K, and
the crystal field properties of YbAgGe by Perturbed Angular Correlations
(PAC) measurements up to 900 K. In YbAgGe, we show that each of the two
magnetically ordered phases below 0.8 K involves a specific incommensurate
modulation of the Yb moment. An analysis of existing low temperature specific
heat data suggests the
persistence of fluctuations of the correlated Yb spins down to 0.1 K.
The PAC data allow to discriminate among proposed Yb3+ crystal field
level schemes. In YbPtIn, we show that the low temperature magnetic order
phase has an antiferro-para structure, where zero moment Yb ions coexist with
large moment ones, and that a 90° moment reorientation occurs at

The adsorption of 3,3′-di(methoxycarbonyl)azobenzene (CMA) on Au(111) and on Cu(001) substrates was studied by X-ray absorption
spectroscopy measurements at the C, N, and O K edges. We find the molecules physisorbed in a planar conformation flat on the Au(111) surface. At higher coverages, a molecular
crystal is formed wherein the molecules have the same flat geometry. On Cu(001), additional chemical bonds are formed between

We observe a signal for the doubly charmed baryon Xi(+)(cc) in the charged decay mode Xi(+)(cc)-->Lambda(+)(c)K-pi(+) in data from SELEX, the charm hadroproduction experiment at Fermilab. We observe an excess of 15.9 events over an expected background of 6.1+/-0.5 events, a statistical significance of 6.3sigma. The observed mass of this state is 3519+/-1 MeV/c(2). The Gaussian mass width of this state is 3 MeV/c(2), consistent with resolution; its lifetime is less than 33 fs at 90% confidence. 相似文献

We study the interplay of topological excitations in stripe phases: charge dislocations, charge loops, and spin vortices. In two dimensions these defects interact logarithmically on large distances. Using a renormalization-group analysis in the Coulomb-gas representation of these defects, we calculate the phase diagram and the critical properties of the transitions. Depending on the interaction parameters, spin and charge order can disappear at a single transition or in a sequence of two transitions (spin-charge separation). These transitions are nonuniversal with continuously varying critical exponents. We also determine the nature of the points where three phases coexist. 相似文献
