The binding properties of trivalent metal ions to polyelectrolytes were investigated through the use of Tb(III) luminescence studies. The condensation of Tb(III) with the homopolymers poly(acrylic acid) and poly(methacrylic acid) was studied in detail. In addition, the 1 : 1 copolymers of maleic acid with ethylene, isobutene, and 2,4,4-trimethyl-1-pentene were also examined. The emission intensity of the 305 nm Tb(III) hypersensitive excitation band was found to correlate with the size of the alkyl group on the polymer chains. Tb(III) luminescence lifetime studies indicated that the metal ion binding site was equivalent over a wide range of Tb(III)/polymer ratios. The number of solvent molecules coordinated by Tb(III) in the various polymer complexes was determined and found to range between 3.5 and 4 molecules of water of hydration. 相似文献

Abstract
Near-UV irradiation of solutions of (Bu4N)AuCl4 in aerated ethanol-stabilized chloroform causes the continuous decomposition of chloroform, as evidenced by the production of many equivalents of HCl and peroxides. At the outset of irradiation, most of the AuCl4 − is reduced to AuCl2 −, but the reduction stops and is reversed. The same experiments done in ethanol-free chloroform cause chloroform decomposition only until the irreversible reduction of the gold is complete. In deoxygenated ethanol-free chloroform, irreversible reduction to AuCl2 − is accompanied by the formation of HCl and CCl4, while the main decomposition products in deoxygenated ethanol-stabilized chloroform are HCl and C2Cl6. It is proposed that, in ethanol-free chloroform, photoreduction of AuCl4 − begins with the concerted elimination of HCl from an association complex of CHCl3 with AuCl4 −, and that ethanol suppresses { \textCHCl3 ·\textAuCl4 - } \{ {\text{CHCl}}_{3} \cdot {\text{AuCl}}_{4}^{ - } \} complex formation, leaving a slower radical process to carry out the photoreduction of AuCl4 − in ethanol-stabilized chloroform. In the presence of oxygen, the radical process causes a build-up of CCl3OOH, which reoxidizes AuCl2 − to AuCl4 − and allows the photodecomposition of CHCl3 to continue indefinitely. 相似文献63.

The magnetic field effects (MFEs) on photoinduced hydrogen abstraction reactions between benzophenone and thiophenol in an ionic liquid, N,N,N-trimethyl-N-propylammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (TMPA TFSI), were studied by a nanosecond laser flash photolysis technique under ultrahigh fields of up to 28 T. To establish an immunoassay for baicalin (BA), a hybridoma cell line (9D6) secreting a monoclonal antibody (MAb) against BA was prepared by cell fusion with splenocytes derived from a mouse immunized with BA-bovine serum albumin (BSA) conjugate and a myeloma cell line, SP2/0-Ag14. MAb 9D6 shows specific reactivity against BA and its aglycone, baicalein, but not against other natural products. We developed an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using MAb 9D6 in a competitive manner, ranging from 200 ng/mL to 2 μg/mL. After validating the developed ELISA on the basis of intra- and inter-assays and a recovery experiment, it was found that the ELISA was not only simple, but also sufficiently reliable and accurate for quality control of Scutellariae Radix. Enthalpies of mixing and the densities of ethanol solution of R- and S-enantiomers of camphor, 10-camphorsulfonamide, 10-camphorsulfonic acid, camphorquinone, and 10-camphorsulfonyl chloride have been measured for a wide range of mole fractions of heterochiral components at 298.15 K. Enthalpies of mixing were exothermic for all concentrations and heterochiral solutions were more stable than each of the homochiral solutions. Enthalpic stabilization of mixing of heterochiral solutions was increased with a decreasing concentration of all the camphor derivatives measured. The sequence of enthalpic stabilization on mixing was 10-camphorsulfonyl chloride, 10-camphorsulfonic acid, 10-camphorsulfonamide, camphor, and camphorquinone. Apparent molar volumes were determined and excess volumes of mixing of heterochiral solutions were small and negative. Heterochromatin bodies in single- and multichromocentered interphase cell nuclei of Triatoma infestans, a vector of Chagas disease, have been suggested to contain AT-rich DNA, based on their positive response to Q-banding and Hoechst 33248 treatment. No information exists on whether GC-rich DNA is also present in these nuclei and whether it plays a role on chromatin condensation. Considering that methodologies more precise than those previously used to determine DNA base composition in situ are currently available, and that the spatial distribution of chromatin areas differing in composition in interphase cell nuclei of different species is a matter of interest, the localization of AT- and GC-rich DNA in T. infestans nuclei is revisited here. The methodologies used included DAPI/AMD and CMA(3)/Distamycin differential staining, Feulgen-DNA image analysis following Msp I and Hpa II enzymatic digestion, 5-methylcytidine immunodetection, AgNOR response, confocal microscopy, and the 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-AZA) demethylation assay. The results identified the presence of AT-rich/GC-poor DNA in chromocenters and evenly distributed AT and GC sequences in euchromatin. A GC-rich DNA zone encircling the chromocenters was also found but it could not be associated with NOR regions. To corroborate the DNA AT-richness in T. infestans nuclei, bioinformatic analyses were also performed. Methylated cytosine was evident at some points of the chromocenters' edge in single- and multichromocentered nuclei and at the euchromatin of multichromocentered nuclei and could be transiently affected by the 5-AZA treatment. The present results suggest that in the particular case of chromocenters of the hemipteran T. infestans, cytosine methylation is not a relevant factor involved in chromatin condensation. 相似文献

Lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor-1 (LOX-1) is an endothelial receptor for oxidized LDL (oxLDL) and plays multiple roles in the development of cardiovascular diseases. We screened more than 400 foodstuff extracts for identifying materials that inhibit oxLDL binding to LOX-1. Results showed that 52 extracts inhibited LOX-1 by more than 70% in cell-free assays. Subsequent cell-based assays revealed that a variety of foodstuffs known to be rich in procyanidins such as grape seed extracts and apple polyphenols, potently inhibited oxLDL uptake in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells expressing LOX-1. Indeed, purified procyanidins significantly inhibited oxLDL binding to LOX-1 while other ingredients of apple polyphenols did not. Moreover, chronic administration of oligomeric procyanidins suppressed lipid accumulation in vascular wall in hypertensive rats fed with high fat diet. These results suggest that procyanidins are LOX-1 inhibitors and LOX-1 inhibition might be a possible underlying mechanism of the well-known vascular protective effects of red wine, the French Paradox. 相似文献
