The vibro-acoustic response of built-up structures, consisting of stiff components with low modal density and flexible components with high modal density, is sensitive to small imperfections in the flexible components. In this paper, the uncertainty of the response is considered by modeling the low modal density master system as deterministic and the high modal density subsystems in a nonparametric stochastic way, i.e., carrying a diffuse wave field, and by subsequently computing the response probability density function. The master system's mean squared response amplitude follows a singular noncentral complex Wishart distribution conditional on the subsystem energies. For a single degree of freedom, this is equivalent to a chi-square or an exponential distribution, depending on the loading conditions. The subsystem energies follow approximately a chi-square distribution when their relative variance is smaller than unity. The results are validated by application to plate structures, and good agreement with Monte Carlo simulations is found. 相似文献

The N-I transition temperatures for a range of 4-propyl 1-monoesters and several 1,4-diesters of cubane, bicyclo(2.2.2)octane, cydohexane and benzene have been determined. The differences between the values for the monoesters and diesters of each system and between those for the various ring systems for the mono- and di-ester series are discussed. Cubane has a very poor ability to generate nematic phases of high thermal stability, and the relative nematic stability of the benzene derivatives are significantly different in the two series, the diesters with a central benzene ring having the highest N-I transition temperatures. The values for diesters and monoesters of dihydrocubane are compared with those for cubanes and the effect of deviations from colinearity of the substituent bonds and of changes in flexibility are discussed. 相似文献

Quantitative MRI of neuromelanin (NM) containing structures (referred to as NM-MRI) in the brainstem, namely the locus coeruleus (LC) and substantia nigra (SN), may assist with the early detection of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) as well as differential diagnosis in the early disease stages. In this study, two gradient echo (GRE) sequences with magnetization transfer contrast (MTC) preparation pulses were developed to simultaneously image the LC and SN. This has been a challenge with NM-MRI techniques used in previous studies due to the relatively high specific absorption rate (SAR) induced by these techniques. In addition, a semi-automated quantitative analysis scheme was applied to estimate volumes and contrast-to-noise ratios (CNR) of the LC and SN based on segmentation of both structures. Compared to a T1-weighted turbo spin echo (TSE) sequence typically used for simultaneous imaging of the LC and SN, the two GRE-MTC sequences exhibited improved performance in terms of higher sensitivity (in CNR) in imaging the SN and lower SAR during the scans. A multiple-measurement protocol was adopted as well so that motion degraded measurements could be removed and artifacts associated with motion could be corrected. The present approach has demonstrated advantages in image acquisition (lower SAR and higher sensitivity), image pre-processing (with motion correction) and quantitative image analysis (segmentation-based estimation of volume and CNR) when compared with existing NM-MRI approaches. One of the main claims of the nonparametric model of random uncertainty introduced by Soize (2000) [3] is its ability to account for model uncertainty. The present paper investigates this claim by examining the statistics of natural frequencies, total energy and underlying dispersion equation yielded by the nonparametric approach for two simple systems: a thin plate in bending and a one-dimensional finite periodic mass–spring chain. Results for the plate show that the average modal density and the underlying dispersion equation of the structure are gradually and systematically altered with increasing uncertainty. The findings for the mass–spring chain corroborate the findings for the plate and show that the remote coupling of nonadjacent degrees of freedom induced by the approach suppresses the phenomenon of mode localization. This remote coupling also leads to an instantaneous response of all points in the chain when one mass is excited. In the light of these results, it is argued that the nonparametric approach can deal with a certain type of model uncertainty, in this case the presence of unknown terms of higher or lower order in the governing differential equation, but that certain expectations about the system such as the average modal density may conflict with these results. 相似文献
