Here, we report the first measurements of the molybdenum (Mo) isotopic composition of aerosols collected on Teflon air filters. Mo concentrations and isotopic compositions were measured at selected locations in the city of Calgary, Canada, including a residence, the isotope laboratory at the University of Calgary, the University of Calgary weather station, and the City of Calgary Transit bus garage. Concentrations ranged from 0.07 ng/m3 in the laboratory to 19.0 ng/m3 in the bus garage. The concentrations of Mo in the air samples collected in the bus garage were the highest measured in this study. To date, there are no reported data for the Mo isotopic composition of airborne Mo. In this study, the δ98/95Mo values measured for the different urban sampling sites and reported relative to SRM 3134, ranged from ?0.18 to +0.94 ‰. The results of this investigation suggest that measurements of Mo concentrations and isotopic compositions have the potential to trace anthropogenic emissions in an urban environment. 相似文献

This study explores the hypothesis that clear speech is produced with greater "articulatory effort" than normal speech. Kinematic and acoustic data were gathered from seven subjects as they pronounced multiple repetitions of utterances in different speaking conditions, including normal, fast, clear, and slow. Data were analyzed within a framework based on a dynamical model of single-axis frictionless movements, in which peak movement speed is used as a relative measure of articulatory effort (Nelson, 1983). There were differences in peak movement speed, distance and duration among the conditions and among the speakers. Three speakers produced the "clear" condition utterances with movements that had larger distances and durations than those for "normal" utterances. Analyses of the data within a peak speed, distance, duration "performance space" indicated increased effort (reflected in greater peak speed) in the clear condition for the three speakers, in support of the hypothesis. The remaining four speakers used other combinations of parameters to produce the clear condition. The validity of the simple dynamical model for analyzing these complex movements was considered by examining several additional parameters. Some movement characteristics differed from those required for the model-based analysis, presumably because the articulators are complicated structurally and interact with one another mechanically. More refined tests of control strategies for different speaking styles will depend on future analyses of more complicated movements with more realistic models. 相似文献

A single fully automated generic microbore liquid chromatography electrospray time-of-flight protocol has been developed for the analysis of single beads, single beads with analytical constructs, and isotopically labelled dialkylamine hard tags. The protocol relies upon the incorporation of an isotopic signature into the linker and/or derivatising molecule to give a specific isotopic ratio together with an accurate isotopic difference. These properties facilitate highly specific and sensitive analysis of beads and hard tags using accurate isotopic difference analysis (AIDA) without prior knowledge of the molecular weight. High resolution measurement of the linewidths of HCl broadened by CO2 and N2 and CO broadened by CO2 have been performed in both the 1-0 and 2-0 bands of HCl and the 2-0 band of CO. The data were analyzed by the direct and the peak absorption methods. Values of the linewidths obtained by the two methods are in good agreement. For |m| ≤ 3, for the case of HCl + CO2, the agreement is good for the values obtained in both bands of HCl. However for |m| > 3, the HCl + CO2 linewidths in the 1-0 band are smaller than the corresponding lines in the 2-0 band by as much as 11% for |m| = 9. Lines (|m| ≤ 3) of the 1-0 and 2-0 bands of HCl broadened by CO2 were also analyzed in terms of the super-Lorentzian line profile proposed by Varanasi, S. K. Sarangi, and G. D. T. Tejwani (J. Quan. Spectr. Radiative Transfer12, 857 (1972)) and the Lorentzian profile. The results indicate that near the line center (within 3γ), the shape of HCl + CO2 lines are Lorentzian. 相似文献

A superdeformed band has been observed in the N = 108 isotope 190Pb. This is the most neutron-deficient Pb isotope in which superdeformed states have been observed. Several theoretical approaches have predicted that N = 108 will mark the limit of observable superdeformation in the Pb isotopes. The band, which consists of five (possibly six) transitions, is observed to feed at least one isomeric level in its decay to the ground state. This decay pattern supports a spin assignment of 10 for the lowest observed level. 相似文献

Evidence is presented for multiphonon excitations based on a high-spin (25 Planck) intrinsic state in the deformed nucleus 182 Os. Angular momentum generation by this mode competes with collective rotation. The experimental data are compared with tilted-axis cranking calculations, supporting the vibrational interpretation. High-spin states have been studied in 72Kr and 72Br using the 40Ca + 40Ca and 36Ar + 40Ca reactions at 164 and 145 MeV, respectively. The properties and configurations of the high-spin bands observed have been interpreted using unpaired cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky (CNS), and for 72Kr, paired cranked relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (CRHB) calculations. In 72Kr a new band has been identified that has the properties expected for the doubly aligned S-band configuration. In 72Br the previously known bands have been extended to higher spin. Transferrin, an iron transport protein found in serum and cerebrospinal fluid, is known to be microheterogeneous with respect to its carbohydrate and sialic acid content. The forms of transferrin deficient in sialic acid and/or carbohydrate, termed carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT), have been of clinical interest for almost two decades as a result of the initial finding that elevated CDT concentrations are associated with chronic, excessive alcohol abuse. We demonstrate the utility of capillary electrophoresis for examining the CDT sialoform profile via the direct electrophoresis of serum. The need for negligible preelectrophoresis sample preparation and absence of postelectrophoresis processing dramatically decreases analysis time compared to slab gel-based separations. Using a fluorocarbon-coated capillary containing a hydroxyethyl cellulose/borate buffer, the high resolution separation of serum components is effected in less than 30 min. Under these conditions, the beta region proteins (including transferrin) are well resolved from the alpha-2 and gamma zone proteins in a window where the individual transferrin sialoforms can be detected. The usefulness of this method is demonstrated with the electrophoresis of serum from subjects known to be either non-alcoholic and alcoholic. 相似文献
