IR-Fourier spectroscopic studies of structural changes in fullerenes C60 and C70-Toluene systems

The C₆₀-toluene and C₇₀-toluene complexes were studied by IR-Fourier spectroscopy. The complexes were obtained by crystallization from a toluene solution at room temperature. The changes in the IR spectra caused by the deformation of toluene molecules in the complexes allowed us to study the phase transitions in the fullerene-aromatic solvent systems.     

Nonmonotonous relaxation processes in nonequilibrium nanoforming alloys of Al with transition and rare-earth metals

The temporal dependences of viscosity in Al₈₇Ni₈Y₅, Al₈₆Ni₈Ce₆, and Al₈₆Ni₈La₆ melts were measured at various temperatures after the solid-liquid phase transition. A nonmonotonous change in viscosity with the passage of time was found, due to the destruction of the nonequilibrium microheterogeneous state of melts inherited from the initial multiphase melts. We propose a mechanism of nonmonotonous relaxation of nonequilibrium microheterogeneous melts within the dynamical theory of a molecular field, assuming the emergence of a hierarchy of different relaxation times in the system. A theoretical temporal dependence of viscosity of melts is proposed that is qualitatively consistent with the experimental data.     

Lithium tetrafluoroborate catalyzed highly efficient inter- and intramolecular aza-Michael addition with aromatic amines

Lithium tetrafluoroborate has been demonstrated for the first time to be an efficient catalyst in intermolecular aza-Michael addition aromatic amines to electron deficient alkenes. Suitability of the same catalyst in intramolecular aza-Michael addition leading 2-aryl-2,3-dihydroquinolin-4(1H) ones has also been described.     

Features of polytherms of the viscosity of Fe–B melts

It is established that the formation of a viscous film on the surface of a melt is possible during the viscosimetry of Fe–B melts under normal conditions. It is noted that the film has a considerable effect on the results from measurements and can lead to the appearance of additional features on polyterms. Thermodynamic analysis of the composition of surface layers shows that a viscous film contains mainly boron oxide B₂O₃. It is concluded that the evaporation of B₂O₃ from the surface of the alloy produces additional anomalies on the polytherm of viscosity.     

The structural-phase state of C<Subscript>60</Subscript>-C<Subscript>70</Subscript> fullerene mixtures

The structural and phase state of the C₆₀-C₇₀ system at various C₆₀/C₇₀ ratios in mixtures obtained by the vaporization of solutions in toluene at ∼98°C was studied by X-ray structure analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and infrared spectroscopy. Solid solutions based on the face-centered cubic packing of C₆₀ are not formed in the C₆₀-C₇₀ system at C₇₀ contents from 0.5 to 50 wt %. The hexagonal close packing of a solid solution of C₆₀ in C₇₀ can be formed as a result of the thermally activated decomposition of the ternary crystal solvate in the C₆₀-C₇₀-C₆H₅CH₃ system. The structural state of multiphase mixtures formed under conditions far from equilibrium is characterized by a high degree of structure imperfection and greater ability to undergo oxidation compared with C₆₀ and C₇₀.     

Synthesis,in vitro cytotoxicity,and molecular docking study of novel 3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-one based piperlongumine analogues

With the aim of expanding the scope of SAR on piperlongumine (PL), a naturally occurring anticancer molecule, we have designed a novel hybrid molecule bearing 3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-one and trans-cinnamic acids. The structure, based on hybridization strategy, is used for hybridization of naturally occurring scaffolds. We have synthesized 14 hybrid molecules by coupling 3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-one core with cinnamic acids using the mix anhydride approach. The newly synthesized inhibitors were evaluated for cell viability against breast cancer MCF-7 and cervical cancer HeLa cell lines. Furthermore, the active compounds were screened for their potential in breast cancer MDA-MB-231, cervical cancer C33A cell lines, prostate cancer DU-145, PC-3, and normal VERO cells. From the series, compound 10g was seen to inhibit MCF-7 cell growth significantly with GI₅₀ < 0.1 μM along with growth inhibition in MDA-MB-231 (GI₅₀ = 20 μM) and C33A (GI₅₀ = 3.2 μM). While the inhibitor 10i inhibits MCF-7 breast cancer cell growth GI₅₀ = 3.42 μM along with inhibition of cell growth in MDA-MB-231 (GI₅₀ = 30 μM), HeLa (GI₅₀ = 7.67 μM), C33A (GI₅₀ = 13 μM), DU-145 (GI₅₀ = 6.45 μM), PC-3 (GI₅₀ = 8.68 μM), and VERO (GI₅₀ = 2.93 μM), respectively. Furthermore, molecular docking study demonstrated these compounds could bind tightly to the colchicine domain of tubulin through a network of favorable steric and electrostatic interactions and thus act as a tubulin polymerization inhibitor.

Thionyl chloride-mediated synthesis of 2-azaindolizine sulfur-bridged dimers by C?H bond direct chalcogenation of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines

Thionyl chloride-mediated chalcogenation of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine serves as a new protocol for the synthesis of rare bisimidazopyridyl sulfides. This method provides the new route to synthesis of 2-azaindolizine sulfur-bridged dimers called chalcogenide under metal-free, elemental sulfur-free conditions without the use of polar solvents in regio-selective manner, at room temperature with the simple operational procedure.
