External reflection FTIR spectroscopy and surface pressure measurements were used to compare conformational changes in the adsorbed structures of three globular proteins at the air/water interface. Of the three proteins studied, lysozyme, bovine serum albumin and beta-lactoglobulin, lysozyme was unique in its behaviour. Lysozyme adsorption was slow, taking approximately 2.5 h to reach a surface pressure plateau (from a 0.07 mM solution), and led to significant structural change. The FTIR spectra revealed that lysozyme formed a highly networked adsorbed layer of unfolded protein with high antiparallel beta-sheet content and that these changes occurred rapidly (within 10 min). This non-native secondary structure is analogous to that of a 3D heat-set protein gel, suggesting that the adsorbed protein formed a highly networked interfacial layer. Albumin and beta-lactoglobulin adsorbed rapidly (reaching a plateau within 10 min) and with little change to their native secondary structure.  相似文献

The structural and phase transitions in the nanocrystalline supersaturated α-Fe(Pb) solid solution as a result of the thermally induced transition from a highly strained state to equilibrium have been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The method of moments and the method of least squares is applied to electron scattering on a simple model potential. Some general problems connected with treatment of scattering problems by the method of moments and the method of least squares are discussed. The calculations give an example of the random sampling type error estimates discussed in previous papers of the series, and present a possible way of optimizing nonlinear parameters in the framework of the method of moments and the method of least squares.
Zusammenfassung Die Momentenmethode und die Methode der kleinsten Quadrate wird auf die Elektronenstreuung an einem einfachen Modellpotential angewandt. Einige allgemeine Probleme bei der Anwendung dieser beiden Methoden auf Streuprobleme wurden diskutiert. Die Berechnungen geben ein Beispiel der Fehlerabschätzung vom Stichproben-Typ, der in vorhergehenden Artikeln dieser Serie untersucht wurde; sie stellen eine Möglichkeit der Optimierung nicht-linearer Parameter bei den genannten zwei Methoden dar.

Résumé La méthode des moments et la méthode des moindres carrés sont appliquées à l'étude de la diffusion électronique sur un potentiel modèle simple. Discussion de certains problèmes généraux liés à l'emploi de ces méthodes à l'étude de la diffusion. Les calculs donnet un exemple de l'estimation d'erreur par échantillonage discutée dans les articles précédents, et présentent une méthode pour optimiser des paramètres non linéaires dans le cadre des méthodes des moments et des moindres carrés.

Oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions are widely used in the preparation of many cosmetics, foods, and pharmaceutical products. Microstructure and stability of such emulsions are of utmost importance for their acceptability by the end user. In the present work, we studied the O/W emulsions to know the effects of two bio-derived additives—juice of Coriander sativam L., and milk of Cocos nucifera L, which have good nutrient value for their use in food emulsions. Addition of Cocos nucifera L. milk resulted in enhanced stability with decrease in the polydispersity of dispersed droplets in the emulsions due to the presence of proteins in it. Addition of Coriander sativam L. provided better stability against pH variation from 4 to 8.  相似文献

An extremely simple, high yielding, highly rapid and solvent-free protocol has been described for hydrophosphylation of aldehydes using potassium phosphate as catalyst. Easy commercial availability of the reusable catalyst, operational simplicity at ambient temperature and avoidance of conventional work-up as well as purification procedure makes this solvent-free protocol a near-ideal synthesis.  相似文献

Polyethers have been prepared by condensing the disodium salt of 5,5′-methylene-bis(8-hydroxyquinoline) (MBQ) with p-xylylene dichloride and dibromide, 4,4′-dichloromethyldiphenyl ether, 4,4′-dichloroacetyldiphenyl, 4,4′-dichloroacetyldiphenyl ether and methylene and ethylene dichlorides. All the polycondensations except those with the two aliphatic dihalides could be effected in dioxane and in DMF. The polycondensation of the disodium salt of MBQ with the two aliphatic dihalides could be effected in the absence of solvent in a sealed tube using Ullman catalysts. All the polyethers are insoluble in common organic solvents. I.R. spectra of the polyethers have been measured in KBr. The thermal and electrical properties of these polyethers have been studied.  相似文献

The thermal behavior of a mixture of fullerites C60/70 was studied by X-ray diffraction and IR and UV spectroscopy. The temperature range in which the molecular and crystal states degrade was determined (825?C875°C in a CO medium). In the C60/70 mixture, fullerenes decomposed at lower temperatures than in pure C60 and C70; the decomposition temperature depended on the impurity (oxygen and solvent) content.  相似文献
