We construct and analyze a mixed finite volume method on quadrilateral grids for elliptic problems written as a system of two first order PDEs in the state variable (e.g., pressure) and its flux (e.g., Darcy velocity). An important point is that no staggered grids or covolumes are used to stabilize the system. Only a single primary grid system is adopted, and the degrees of freedom are imposed on the interfaces. The approximate flux is sought in the lowest-order Raviart-Thomas space and the pressure field in the rotated- nonconforming space. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the present finite volume method can be interpreted as a rotated- nonconforming finite element method for the pressure with a simple local recovery of flux. Numerical results are presented for a variety of problems which confirm the usefulness and effectiveness of the method.

Using data recorded with the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detector configurations at the Cornell Electron Storage Rings, we report the first observation and mass measurement of the Sigma(*+)(c) charmed baryon, and an updated measurement of the mass of the Sigma(+)(c) baryon. We find M(Sigma(*+)(c))-M(Lambda(+)(c)) = (231.0+/-1.1+/-2.0) MeV, and M(Sigma(+)(c))-M(Lambda(+)(c)) = (166.4+/-0.2+/-0.3) MeV, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. 相似文献

Background
In the field of auditory neuroscience, much research has focused on the neural processes underlying human sound localization. A recent magnetoencephalography (MEG) study investigated localization-related brain activity by measuring the N1m event-related response originating in the auditory cortex. It was found that the dynamic range of the right-hemispheric N1m response, defined as the mean difference in response magnitude between contralateral and ipsilateral stimulation, reflects cortical activity related to the discrimination of horizontal sound direction. Interestingly, the results also suggested that the presence of realistic spectral information within horizontally located spatial sounds resulted in a larger right-hemispheric N1m dynamic range. Spectral cues being predominant at high frequencies, the present study further investigated the issue by removing frequencies from the spatial stimuli with low-pass filtering. This resulted in a stepwise elimination of direction-specific spectral information. Interaural time and level differences were kept constant. The original, unfiltered stimuli were broadband noise signals presented from five frontal horizontal directions and binaurally recorded for eight human subjects with miniature microphones placed in each subject's ear canals. Apparent molal heat capacities as a function of the degree of neutralization have been determined for dilute aqueous solutions of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), poly(methacrylic acid) (PMA), copoly(maleic acid-ethylene) (MAEt), and copoly(maleic acid-styrene) (MASt) using direct flow microcalorimetry. Apparent molal volumes were measured as well. Both molal heat capacity and molal volume decrease with increasing ionization of the polymer. The effect of the hydrophobic interactions of the methyl group or phenyl group was obtained from the difference in the molal quantities of PMA and PAA, or MASt and MAEt. No evidence of hydrophobic effects, as determined from the heat capacity, was found for the conformational transition of PMA, but the hydration of the phenyl groups in MASt was found to be changed significantly at a degree of neutralization of 0.4. 相似文献

In this study, we demonstrate the photogating effects of p-type HgTe nanoparticles (NPs) on an n-type ZnO nanowire (NW). The photogating effects are due to the charge separation of the charge carriers photogenerated in the NPs under illumination and the subsequent accumulation of the photogenerated electrons in the pn junction of the NPs and the NW. The presence of the electrons in the junction reduces the current in the ZnO NW. The photogating effects are proved by the different photocurrent behavior of the ZnO NW to which the HgTe NPs are attached from that of a bare ZnO NW. In addition, the dependence of the photogating effects on the power of the incident light is discussed. 相似文献

This paper analyzes the evolution of the dependence structure for various time window intervals, known as Epps effect, using the Trade and Quote data of 663 actively traded stocks in Korean stock market. It is found that the random matrix theory analysis could not represent the dependence structure of the stock market in the microstructure regime. The Cook-Johnson copula is introduced as a parsimonious alternative method to handle this problem, and the existence of the Epps effect is confirmed for the 663 stocks using high frequency data. It was also found that large capitalization companies tend to have a stronger dependence structure, except for the largest capitalization group, since the phenomenon of price level resistance leads to the weak dependence structure in the largest capitalization group. In addition, grouping the industry as a sub-portfolio is an appropriate approach for hour interval traders, whereas this approach is not a strategy recommended for high frequency traders. 相似文献

Tetragermanium nonaselenide, Ge4Se9, adopts a two‐dimensional layered structure. The layer is made up of infinite chains of corner‐sharing GeSe4 tetrahedra and the chains are connected via the Ge2Se7 unit to form the two‐dimensional layer. These layers are stacked to form the three‐dimensional structure with a van der Waals gap. A previous structure report on Ge4Se9 based on powder diffraction data [Fjellvåg, Kongshaug & Stølen (2001). J. Chem. Soc. Dalton Trans. pp. 1043–1045] is comparable with our results except for the absolute structure determination. 相似文献
