Motivated by the need to form 1D-nanostructured dopants on silicon surfaces, we have attempted to grow Ga on the high index Si(5 5 12) surface which has a highly trenched (1D) morphology. The evolution of the interface with Ga adsorption in the monolayer regime has been probed by in situ AES, LEED and EELS. Controlling the kinetics by changing the Ga flux rates shows an interesting difference in the 1.0 to 1.5 ML region. The low flux rate (0.03 ML/minute) results in a Frank van der Merwe (layer by layer) growth mode up to 2 ML, while the higher flux rate (0.1 ML/minute) shows a transient island formation after the completion of 1 ML. The low rate shows the formation of 2 × (3 3 7) and (2 2 5) superstructures, while only the 2 × (3 3 7) is observed in a wide coverage range for the higher rate. The results demonstrate the ability to kinetically control the surface phases with different electronic properties of this technologically important interface.  相似文献

The paper presents an innovative approach towards development of real time dosimetry using a chemical dosimeter for measurement of absorbed radiation dose in the range between 1 and 400 Gy. Saturated chloroform solution in water, a well known chemical dosimeter, is used to demonstrate the concept of online measurement of radiation dose. The measurement approach involves online monitoring of increase in conductivity of saturated chloroform solution due to progressive build up of traces of highly conducting HCl during exposure to gamma irradiation. A high performance pulsating sensor-based conductivity monitoring instrument has been used to monitor such real time change in conductivity of solution. A relation between conductivity shift and radiation dose has been established using radiochemical yield value (G value) of HCl. The G value of HCl in saturated chloroform dosimeter has been determined using laboratory developed pulsating sensor-based devices. In this connection dose rate of Co-60 gamma chamber was determined using Fricke dosimeter following a simple potentiometric measurement approach developed in-house besides conventional spectrophotometry. Results obtained from both measurement approaches agreed well. Complete instrumentation package has also been developed to measure real time radiation dose. The proposed real time radiation dosimeter is successfully tested in several measurement campaigns in order to assure its performance prior to its deployment in field.  相似文献

The variable energy microtron at Mangalore University has been used to study the effect of radiation on different materials and biological systems. While studying the effects of radiation, it is essential to have complete knowledge of absorbed dose. In the present study the dose due to 8 MeV electron beam from microtron accelerator has been calculated using chemical dosimeters. The uniformity of dose distribution at various points of the irradiation area also has been calibrated. From the dosimetry studies it is observed that there is a linear relation between dose and electron numbers over a wide range of absorbed doses. It is evaluated that the electron counts of about 1.15 × 1014 corresponds to an absorbed dose of 100 Gy and a field size of about 4 × 4 cm is available at 30 cm distance from the beam exit window over which the dose distribution is uniform.  相似文献

An efficient method has been developed for the preparation of 4H‐pyrimido[2,1‐b]benzothiazole derivatives by the condensation of aldehydes, β‐ketoester, and 2‐amino benzothiazole under solvent and solvent‐free conditions using various catalysts. The reaction uses benzothiazole as a new component, and good yield is obtained at 60–65°C under solvent‐free conditions. Atom economies, good yield, environmentally benign, and easy to work‐up are some of the important features of this protocol. The present study suggests that acetic acid and metal catalysts follow different mechanism. In acetic acid, 2‐amino benzothiazole reacts with benzaldehyde, and resultant intermediate reacts with ethyl acetoacetate to give final product, whereas in the presence of metal catalysts, 2‐amino benzothiazole first reacts with ethyl acetoacetate, and resultant intermediate reacts with benzaldehyde to give pyrimido[2,1‐b]benzothiazole.  相似文献

Streptomyces strain isolated from the soil sediment was studied for its in vitro α-glucosidase and antioxidant properties. Morphological characterization and 16S rRNA partial gene sequencing were carried out to confirm that the strain Loyola AR1 belongs to genus Streptomyces sp. Modified nutrient glucose broth was used as the basal medium for growth and metabolites production. Ethyl acetate extract of Loyola AR1 (EA-Loyola AR1) showed 50 % α-glucosidase inhibition at the concentration of 860.50?±?2.68 μg/ml. Antioxidant properties such as total phenolic content of EA-Loyola AR1 was 176.83?±?1.17 mg of catechol equivalents/g extracts. EA-Loyola AR1 showed significant scavenging activity on 2,2-diphenyl-picrylhydrazyl (50 % inhibition (IC50), 750.50?±?1.61 μg/ml), hydroxyl (IC50, 690.20?±?2.38 μg/ml), nitric oxide (IC50, 850.50?±?1.77 μg/ml), and superoxide (IC50, 880.08?±?1.80 μg/ml) radicals, as well as reducing power. EA-Loyola AR1 showed strong suppressive effect on lipid peroxidation (IC50, 670.50?±?2.52 μg/ml). Antioxidants of β-carotene linoleate model system reveals significantly lower than butylated hydroxyanisole.  相似文献

Gingival fibroblasts have critical roles in oral wound healing. Photobiomodulation (PBM) has been shown to promote mucosal healing and is now recommended for managing oncotherapy-associated oral mucositis. This study examined the effects of the emission mode of a 940 nm diode laser on the viability and migration of human gingival fibroblasts. Cells were cultured in a routine growth media and treated with PBM (average power 0.1 W cm−2, average fluence 3 J cm−2, every 12 h for six sessions) in one continuous wave and two pulsing settings with 20% and 50% duty cycles. Cell viability was assessed using MTT, and digital imaging quantified cell migration. After 48 and 72 h, all treatment groups had significantly higher viability (n = 6, P < 0.05) compared with the control. The highest viability was seen in the pulsed (20% duty cycle) group at the 72-h time point. PBM improved fibroblast migration in all PBM-treated groups, but differences were not statistically significant (n = 2, P > 0.05). PBM treatments can promote cell viability in both continuous and pulsed modes. Further studies are needed to elucidate the optimal setting for PBM-evoked responses for its rationalized use in promoting specific phases of oral wound healing.  相似文献

Oxidation of benzaldehyde and p-nitro-benzaldehyde by cerium(IV) sulphate in aqueous sulphuric acid is strongly catalyzed by iridium(III) chloride. The complex formed between cerium(IV) and the organic substrate in the first equilibrium step gives another complex in the presence of iridium(III), which ultimately gives the corresponding aromatic acids as the product of oxidation. The order of the reaction follows first-order kinetics at low concentrations to zero order at higher concentrations of both the oxidant and organic substrate. The rate is directly proportional to the concentration of catalyst, but decreases sharply with increasing H+ ions and cerium(III) concentrations, while change in ionic strength of the medium or the concentration of acetic acid and Cl ions has no effect on the rate.  相似文献

The arene-perfluoroarene (ArH-ArF) interaction, which has been extensively studied in the field of solid-state chemistry, is exploited in the hierarchical self-assembly of oligo(para-phenylenevinylene)s (OPVs) with controlled longitudinal fiber growth that leads to gelation. The size of the self-assembled fibers of a pentafluorophenyl-functionalized OPV 5 could be controlled through C-FH--C hydrogen bonding and pi stacking. The ability of fluoroaromatic compounds to form excited-state complexes with aromatic amines has been utilized to form a supramolecular exciplex, exclusively in the gel state, that exhibits enhanced emission. Thus, the commonly encountered fluorescence quenching during the self-assembly of OPVs could be considerably prevented by exciplex formation with N,N-dimethylaniline (DMA), which only occurred for the fluorinated OPV and not for the non-fluorinated analogue 4. In the former case, a threefold enhancement in the emission intensity could be observed in the gel state, whereas no change in emission occurred in solution. Thus, the major limitations of spontaneous fiber growth and fluorescence self-quenching encountered in the self-assembly of OPVs could be controlled to a great extent by using the versatile ArH-ArF interaction.  相似文献
