Two-dimensional numerical studies of flow and temperature fields for turbulent natural convection and surface radiation in inclined differentially heated enclosures are performed. Investigations are carried out over a wide range of Rayleigh numbers from 108 to 1012, with the angle of inclination varying between 0° and 90°. Turbulence is modeled with a novel variant of the k–ε closure model. The predicted results are validated against experimental and numerical results reported in literature. The effect of the inclination of the enclosure on pure turbulent natural convection and the latter’s interaction with surface radiation are brought out. Profiles of turbulent kinetic energy and effective viscosity are studied to observe the net effect on the intensity of turbulence caused by the interaction of natural convection and surface radiation. The variations of local Nusselt number and average Nusselt number are presented for various inclination angles. Marked change in the convective Nusselt number is found with the orientation of enclosure. Also analyzed is the influence of change in emissivity on the flow and heat transfer. A correlation relevant to practical applications in the form of average Nusselt number, as a function of Rayleigh number, Ra, radiation convection parameter, N RC and inclination angle of the enclosure, φ is proposed.  相似文献

Abstract Aim of the paper is to investigate the effects of linearly varying thermal conductivity, viscous dissipation and Ohmic heating on steady free convection flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting liquid having low Prandtl number along an inclined isothermal non-conducting porous plate in the presence of transverse magnetic field. The governing equations of continuity, momentum and energy are transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation. The resulting coupled and non-linear ordinary differential equations are solved using Runge-Kutta fourth order method and shooting technique. The velocity and temperature distributions are discussed numerically and presented through graphs. Skin-friction coefficient and Nusselt number at the plate are derived, discussed and their numerical values for various values of physical parameters are presented through tables.  相似文献

The vibronic vapour phase photoacoustic spectrum of Br2 in the wavelength region 505–541 nm (19796–18480 cm−1) has been recorded using microphone as well as pump-probe method. Discrete vibronic bands superimposed on a monotonically increasing continuum background towards the dissociation limit results from the overlapping B 3Π 0u /+X 1Σ g /+ and 1Π1u X 1Σ g /+ electronic transitions. Vibronic bands originating from υ″=0 have been used to estimate the relative rate of non-radiative relaxation as a function of the excited state B 3Π0u vibrational quantum number υ′. A comparison with the optical absorption spectroscopy of Br2 leads to the identification of three broad spectral regions between 505 and 541 nm (19796 and 18480 cm−1) on the basis of different non-radiative relaxation processes.  相似文献

In this paper an alternative approach for measurement of στ product for 4 F 3/24 I 11/2 transition of Nd3+ doped YVO4 crystal is reported. In this method a microchip laser is formed by keeping a small piece of the sample in plane-plane resonator and a diode laser (808 nm) is used for pumping. The pump power induced thermal lensing effect is used to make the cavity stable. The cavity mode area is estimated by measuring the thermal lens focal length at the threshold and the average pump area is measured by Gaussian fit to the intensity profiles of the pump beam. The value of στ product of Nd:YVO4 crystal obtained by this method is within 10% of the reported values. The advantage of this method is that it is a simple method for direct measurement of στ product of laser crystals.  相似文献

Incomplete fusion reactions were investigated by measuring the excitation functions of nine evaporation residues in 16O + 51V reaction in the beam energy 4-6 MeV/amu, using the well-known recoil catcher technique and gamma-ray spectrometry. The experimental data were compared with that obtained from Monte Carlo simulation calculations using the PACE2 code. The results indicate the presence of incomplete fusion process in the production of two alpha emission products. This was further confirmed by the measurement of recoil range distribution of these isotopes at 96 MeV beam energy. Calculations of the average angular momentum associated with these products revealed the peripheral nature of these ICF reactions. Received: 20 June 2001 / Accepted: 11 September 2001  相似文献

Measurements of fast luminescence decay and time-resolved spectra revealed novel ultra-fast luminescence with the lifetime of several tens ps in heavy-ion-irradiated single crystals of LiF, NaF, NaCl, KCl, KBr, KI, RbI, CsCl, CsBr, CsI, -alumina, and MgO. The luminescence is furthermore characterized by a super-linear increase in the efficiency with increasing excitation density, non-tailed decay curve, and temperature-insensitive decay-rate and yield. The results mean that the luminescence neither originates from localized excited states such as self-trapped excitons, free excitons, excited defects, and excited impurity centers nor their interaction. A process which does not contradict the experimental results is the formation of the e–h plasmas and the luminescence from them.  相似文献

E.p.r. and optical absorption studies have been conducted on dichloromono(1-phenylamidino-o-alkylurea)copper(II) complexes (Alkyl = Me, Et, Pr, Bu or Pe). The e.p.r. spectra of solids, recorded at 300 K, confirmed the square-planar geometry with the unpaired electron in the dx 2y 2 orbital of copper. Magnetic field-induced partial molecular alignment has been observed in some of the polycrystalline samples when cooled in a magnetic field of 1 T at 77 K. E.p.r. spectra at 77 K in pyridine and DMF has shown axial ligation of solvent molecules (pyridine and DMF), whereas in MeOH and DMSO at least three structurally different CuII species have been identified. These features are consistent with differences in electronic absorption spectra in the powder and in solution.  相似文献

We have studied the dynamics of non-colloidal short fiber suspensions in bounded shear flow using the Stokesian dynamics simulation. Such particles make up the microstructure of many suspensions for which the macroscopic dynamics are not well understood. The effect of wall on the fiber dynamics is the main focus of this work. For a single fiber undergoing simple shear flow between plane parallel walls the period of rotation was compared with the Jeffrey’s orbit. A fiber placed close to the wall shows significant deviation from Jeffrey’s orbit. The fiber moving near a solid wall in bounded shear flow follows a pole-vaulting motion, and its centroid location from the wall is also periodic. Simulations were also carried out to study the effect of fiber–fiber interactions on the viscosity of concentrated suspensions.  相似文献

A theoretical analysis of three-dimensional Couette flow with radiation effect on temperature distribution has been analysed, when the injection of the fluid at the lower stationary plate is a transverse sinusoidal one and its corresponding removal by constant suction through the upper porous plate is in uniform motion. Due to this type of injection velocity, the flow becomes three-dimensional. The effect of Prandtl number, radiation parameter and injection parameter on rate of heat transfer has been examined by the help of graphs. The Prandtl number has a much greater effect on the temperature distribution than the injection or radiation parameter.  相似文献
