First macrocycle based on chlorin and isosteviol structural elements

Acylation by suberic acid chloride of chlorin with two oximated isosteviol groups on its periphery produced for the first time a macrocyclic system containing a porphyrin ring and two tetracyclic ent-beyerane frameworks.     

Structure and functional properties of rapidly quenched ribbons of Ti<Subscript>2</Subscript>NiCu alloy with different fractions of the crystalline phase

The controllable annealing of amorphous Ti₂NiCu ribbons by a pulsed electric current was developed, and samples with different fractions of crystalline phase were obtained. The samples’ structure was studied using high-resolution electron microscopy. Annealing conditions allowing us to obtain an amorphous nanocrystalline structure with grain sizes of less than 10 nm were determined. Conditions for obtaining samples with the two-wave shape memory effect were found. A prototype micromanipulator was designed and successfully tested.     

Interference phenomena in Doppler broadened quantum transitions: Amplification of intense radiation without population inversion

We study the effect of nonlinear interference processes on quantum transitions in intense resonant electromagnetic fields with allowance for changes in level populations, relaxation processes, incoherent excitation, and Doppler broadening of the transitions, on the absorption, amplification, and refraction of the interacting fields. The theory is generalized to the case of nonlinear interference interaction of two intense fields in open and closed three-level quantum systems. Using the density matrix, we derive general expressions in the case of stationary interaction that make it possible to analyze the optical characteristics for various configurations of the interfering transitions by a simple substitution of parameters. The possibility of amplifying light without saturated population inversion in a resonant transition is discussed. We formulate the conditions for such amplification and use examples to show that under appropriate changes in the initial level populations and the intensity of the auxiliary light, the inversionless amplification coefficient does not decrease with increasing intensity of the amplified radiation. We also show that allowance for these accompanying processes greatly affects the choice of optimal conditions for interference in optical transitions. Chemical polarization of nuclei in the reaction of triethyl- and triisobutylaluminum with hexachlorocyclopentadiene

Separation of racemic salycylaldehydes containing isobornyl substituent using (<Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis>)-1-phenylethylamine

Racemic salicylaldehydes containing isobornyl substituent were separated by their conversion into diastereomers by the reaction with (R)-1-phenylethylamine. The absolute configuration of the intermediate Schiff bases and separated aldehyde eneatiomers was established by XRD analysis.     

Effect of ionic polarizability on the equations of state of certain alkali halide crystals

The equations of state are found for four alkali halide crystals: TiF, NaCl, KCl, and KBr. Effect of copper and cobalt impurities on the electronic structure and optical spectra of the intermetallic compound PrNi5

The electronic structure and optical properties of the intermetallic compound PrNi₅ and their evolution during the substitution of copper or cobalt atoms for nickel atoms have been investigated. The band spectra of the studied compounds have been calculated in the local spin density approximation corrected to account for strong electron-electron interactions in the 4f shell of the rare-earth ion (LSDA + U method). The dispersion relations of the optical conductivity in the interband light absorption region have been interpreted using the results of calculations of the electron density of states.
