Synthesis and properties of ω-(hydroxyaryl)alkylsulfides based on 2-isobornyl-6-methyl-4-propylphenol

Proceeding from 2-isobornyl-6-methyl-4-propylphenol new derivatives have been synthesized having sulfur atoms included in different functional groups. Antiradical and antioxidant activity, as well as membrane-protecting properties of the derivatives of 2-isobornyl-6-methyl-4-propylphenol in chemical and biological model systems have been investigated.     

Two-way shape memory in a nanoscale sample of Ti49.5Ni25.5Cu25.0 alloy with a partially ordered structure

The dependence of the thermomechanical properties and structure of rapidly quenched Ti_49.5Ni_25.5Cu_25.0 alloy on the annealing conditions has been studied. A sample with a partially ordered structure is found to have two-way shape memory effect during single deformation. An alloy sample 17 × 10 × 0.07 μm in size has been prepared and trained. It is shown to demonstrate two-way shape memory behavior.     

Electronic structure and optical properties of TbNi5−xCux

In this paper we present theoretical investigation of optical conductivity for intermetallic TbNi_5−xCu_x series. Within the framework of LSDA+U calculations, electronic structure for x=0, 1, 2 is calculated and additionally optical conductivity is obtained. Disorder effects of Cu for Ni substitution on a level of LSDA+U densities of states (DOS) are taken into account via averaging over all possible Cu ion positions in the unit cell for given doping level x. Gradual smoothing of optical conductivity structure at 2 eV together with simultaneous intensity growth at 4 eV corresponds to increase of Cu and decrease of Ni content.     

Synthesis of inulin esters of phenylcarboxylic acids

Inulin esters were synthesized containing residues of ferulic, p-hydroxycinnamic, and vanillic acids with a maximum degree of substitution of 1.1. The inulin acylation was carried out with chlorides of 4-acetoxy derivatives of the corresponding hydroxyphenylcarboxylic acids in a heterogenic water-organic environment. The removal of the protecting acetyl group at the phenol hydroxyl was carried out by treating with pyrrolidine or ammonium acetate. The solubility of the esters obtained was evaluated.     

N-Pyrrolidine-2-ylmethyl)-2-hydroxy-3-aminopinanes as novel organocatalysts for asymmetric conjugate additions of ketones to α-nitroalkenes

Novel stereoisomeric natural pinane-derived bifunctional catalysts 3a–d bearing a pyrrolidine unit have been synthesized and examined in the asymmetric conjugate additions of carbonyl compounds to α-nitroalkenes. Six-membered cyclic ketones react with β-nitrostyrene derivatives in the presence of (1R,2R,3R,5R)-2-hydroxy-3-((S)-pyrrolidin-2-ylmethylamino) pinane 3b (10 mol %) with high conversion to afford with diastereoselectivity (dr (syn/anti) up to 97/3), the corresponding Michael adducts with enantiomeric purities of up to 88% ee.     

Synthesis of new monoterpene sulfonylimidazoles

Sulfonylimidazoles of monoterpenes of menthane, pinane, and carane nature were synthesized in 83-98% yields.     

Pion electromagnetic characteristics in the quark model with confinement

Pion electromagnetic characteristics such as electric polarizability and rms radius were calculated. Pions are considered a nonrelativistic system of two pointlike spinor quarks with a linear potential at large distances and a Coulomb one at short ones.     

Structure and functional properties of rapidly quenched ribbons of Ti<Subscript>2</Subscript>NiCu alloy with different fractions of the crystalline phase

The controllable annealing of amorphous Ti₂NiCu ribbons by a pulsed electric current was developed, and samples with different fractions of crystalline phase were obtained. The samples’ structure was studied using high-resolution electron microscopy. Annealing conditions allowing us to obtain an amorphous nanocrystalline structure with grain sizes of less than 10 nm were determined. Conditions for obtaining samples with the two-wave shape memory effect were found. A prototype micromanipulator was designed and successfully tested.
