We have detected the occurrence of hydrogen bonding involving an interstitial positive muon situated between hydrogen atoms of two independent alanate anions in sodium alanate (NaAlH4). Ti doping, which is known to dramatically improve the hydrogen cycling performance of NaAlH4, reduces the kinetic barrier of the transition of the muon from the muon-dialanate state to a mobile interstitial state. This observation strongly suggests that hydrogen bonding is the primary bottleneck for hydrogen release or uptake in sodium alanate, which might be common to other complex hydrides.  相似文献

The ability of the monoclonal antibody TU-20 and its scFv fragment to specifically bind to the C-end of the class III beta-tubulin makes these preparations useful as potential diagnostics for in vivo determination of neurodegenerative diseases that entail degradation of neuronal cytoskeleton. To examine this hypothesis, TU-20 and its scFv were labelled with 125I and their properties were extensively investigated. TU-20 and its scFv were labelled via chloramine-T with the yield 90–95% and 64–78%, respectively. Their quality control, performed by an ELISA and gel electrophoresis, determined adequate properties for further studies. The in vitro experiment, involving autoradiography and immunohistochemistry of mice’ brain slices, enabled confirmation of preserved immunospecificity of the radiolabelled substances. Finally, the in vivo biodistribution proved differences in elimination of either TU-20, scFv TU-20, or iodide from the mice.  相似文献

PLEIADES is a compact, tunable, high-brightness, ultra-short-pulse, Thomson-scattering X-ray source. Picosecond pulses of hard X-rays (10–200 keV) are created by colliding an ultra-relativistic (20–100 MeV), picosecond-duration electron beam with a high-intensity, sub-picosecond, 800-nm laser pulse. Initial operation of this source has produced 78-keV X-rays with 106 photons per pulse using a 57-MeV, 0.3-nC, 50-m rms width electron beam and a 180-mJ, 15-m rms width laser pulse. The angular distribution, energy, and energy spectrum of the source are found to agree well with theory and simulations. Source optimization is expected to increase X-ray output to between 107 and 108 photons per pulse with a peak brightness approaching 1020 photons/s/0.1% bandwidth/mm2/mrad2. At the recently built FLASH x-ray free-electron laser, we studied the reflectivity of Si/C multilayers with fluxes up to 3 x 10(14) W/cm2. Even though the nanostructures were ultimately completely destroyed, we found that they maintained their integrity and reflectance characteristics during the 25-fs-long pulse, with no evidence for any structural changes over lengths greater than 3 A. This experiment demonstrates that with intense ultrafast pulses, structural damage does not occur during the pulse, giving credence to the concept of diffraction imaging of single macromolecules.  相似文献

Renewable feedstocks have been in the spotlight of intensive research activities over the past 10 years. Glycerol is one of the feedstock molecules which has been the target of numerous research efforts, for a number of reasons. First of all glycerol is currently readily available due to the fact that it is a couple product of the first generation biodiesel production. Secondly glycerol can be taken as a representative model substrate to explore the options of selective conversion of sugar alcohols to products of value. In our paper we discuss potential routes for the valorisation of glycerol which lead to intermediates already established within the petrochemical value chain and illustrate what impact high throughput experimentation may have as a success factor on research and development for this field. As illustrative examples we have chosen the oxidative transformation of glycerol to acrolein and acrylic acid and the carbonylation of glycerol to C4-acids.  相似文献
