We investigate the medium modification of a partonic jet shower traversing in a hot quark-gluon plasma. We derive and solve a differential equation that governs the evolution of the radiated gluon distribution as the jet propagates through the medium. Energy contained inside the jet cone is lost by dissipation through elastic collisions with the medium and by scattering of shower partons to larger angles. We find that the jet energy loss at early times is dominated by medium effects on the vacuum radiation, and by medium-induced radiation effects at late times. We compare our numerical results for the nuclear modification of the dijet asymmetry with that recently reported by the ATLAS Collaboration.  相似文献

The structural and electronic properties of individual titanium oxide nanotubes have been studied using both empirical and ab initio calculations. Two different types of titanium oxide nanotubes (A-nanotube and B-nanotube) have been constructed and energy-minimized by molecular mechanics calculations. We found that the A-nanotubes are energetically more favorable than the B-nanotubes. The electronic band structure of the titanium oxide nanotubes was also calculated with respect to the tubule diameter and the tubule type using the ab initio method. The band gap of the A-nanotube was reduced by up to 60% as the tubule diameter decreases from 1.2 nm to 0.5 nm.  相似文献

The fringing-induced barrier lowering(FIBL) effect of sub-100 nm MOSFETs with high-k gate dielectrics is investigated using a two-dimensional device simulator.An equivalent capacitance theory is proposed to explain the physics mechanism of the FIBL effect.The FIBL effect is enhanced and the short channel performance is degraded with increasing capacitance.Based on equivalent capacitance theory,the influences of channel length,junction depth,gate/lightly doped drain(LDD) overlap length,spacer material and spacer width on FIBL is thoroughly investigated.A stack gate dielectric is presented to suppress the FIBL effect.  相似文献

For the first time we introduce an operator Δ h (γ,ε;κ) for studying Husimi distribution function in phase space (γ,ε) for electron’s states in uniform magnetic field, where κ is the Gaussian spatial width parameter. The marginal distributions of the Husimi function are Gaussian-broadened version of the Wigner marginal distributions. Using the Wigner operator in the entangled state 〈λ | representation we find that Δ h (γ,ε;κ) is just a pure squeezed coherent state density operator | γ,ε κ κ γ,ε |, which brings much convenience for studying Husimi distribution, so we name Δ h (γ,ε;κ) the Husimi operator. We then derive Husimi operator’s normally ordered form that provides us with an operator version to examine various properties of the Husimi distribution. The distributed point source method (DPSM) was recently proposed for ultrasonic field modeling and other applications. This method uses distributed point sources, placed slightly behind transducer surface, to model the ultrasound field. The acoustic strength of each point source is obtained through matrix inversion that requires the number of target points on the transducer surface to be equal to the number of point sources. In this work, DPSM was extended and further developed to overcome the limitations of the original method and provide a solid mathematical explanation of the physical principle behind the method. With the extension, the acoustic strength of the point sources was calculated as the solution to the least squares minimization problem instead of using direct matrix inversion. As numerical examples, the ultrasound fields of circular and rectangular transducers were calculated using the extended and original DPSMs which were then systematically compared with the results calculated using the theoretical solution and the exact spatial impulse response method. The numerical results showed the extended method can model ultrasonic fields accurately without the scaling step required by the original method. The extended method has potential applications in ultrasonic field modeling, tissue characterization, nondestructive testing, and ultrasound system optimization.  相似文献

We demonstrate a 22 dB all-fiber amplifier at 546 nm using Er3+-doped fluoride fiber by forward upconversion pumping of a 974 nm laser diode. The gain saturation effects and the power conversion efficiency of this amplifier are investigated in detail based on gain characteristics and numerical simulations.  相似文献

In this paper, the microwave-absorbing properties of (Ni1−xyCoxZny)Fe2O4 spinel ferrites have been investigated within the frequency range of 0.5–14 GHz. There are two kinds of resonance peaks observed in the permeability spectra: domain-wall resonances at lower frequency and spin-rotation resonances at higher frequency. The reflection loss (RL) calculations show that the prepared NiCoZn spinel ferrites are good electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbers in microwave range. In terms of the absorbing frequency band (AFB) and the matching thickness (tm), (Ni0.407Co0.207Zn0.386)Fe2O4 shows the best performances: tm=3.15 mm and the AFB is 8.64–11.2 GHz. Decreasing the weight ratio of NiCoZn ferrites in ferrites/wax composites, the matching thickness decreases and the AFB shifts to higher frequencies. Compared with the absorbers with single-layer ferrites, the absorbers with double-layers ferrites have better absorbing performances, such as a thinner matching thickness and a wider EM wave AFB.  相似文献

Volume perception, that is, perception of a partially enclosed space filled with a medium, can be assessed not only from binocular viewing but also from motion. We studied the volume perception of a cylindrical object in motion. The motion (rotation, translation, or rolling) of the cylindrical object was simulated with and without appearing and disappearing parts (ADPs). We found that volume perception could be assessed easily with ADPs but was difficult without ADPs. These experimental results indicate that ADPs are an essential factor for volume perception from motion, which is correspond to binocularly unpaired regions for volume perception in binocular viewing.  相似文献
