Summary Generally contracted Basis sets for the atoms H-Kr have been constructed using the atomic natural orbital (ANO) approach, with modifications for allowing symmetry breaking and state averaging. The ANO's are constructed by averaging over the most significant electronic states, the ground state of the cation, the ground state of the anion for some atoms and the homonuclear diatomic molecule at equilibrium distance for some atoms. The contracted basis sets yield excellent results for properties of molecules such as bond-strengths and-lengths, vibrational frequencies, and good results for valence spectra, ionization potentials and electron affinities of the atoms, considering the small size of these sets. The basis sets presented in this article constitute a balanced sequence of basis sets suitable for larger systems, where economy in basis set size is of importance.  相似文献

The pronounced Lewis acidity of tricoordinate silicon cations brings about unusual reactivity in Lewis acid catalysis. The downside of catalysis with strong Lewis acids is, though, that these do have the potential to mediate the formation of protons by various mechanisms, and the thus released Br?nsted acid might even outcompete the Lewis acid as the true catalyst. That is an often ignored point. One way of eliminating a hidden proton-catalyzed pathway is to add a proton scavenger. The low-temperature Diels-Alder reactions catalyzed by our ferrocene-stabilized silicon cation are such a case where the possibility of proton catalysis must be meticulously examined. Addition of the common hindered base 2,6-di-tert-butylpyridine resulted, however, in slow decomposition along with formation of the corresponding pyridinium ion. Quantitative deprotonation of the silicon cation was observed with more basic (Mes)(3)P to yield the phosphonium ion. A deuterium-labeling experiment verified that the proton is abstracted from the ferrocene backbone. A reasonable mechanism of the proton formation is proposed on the basis of quantum-chemical calculations. This is, admittedly, a particular case but suggests that the use of proton scavengers must be carefully scrutinized, as proton formation might be provoked rather than prevented. Proton-catalyzed Diels-Alder reactions are not well-documented in the literature, and a representative survey employing TfOH is included here. The outcome of these catalyses is compared with our silylium ion-catalyzed Diels-Alder reactions, thereby clearly corroborating that hidden Br?nsted acid catalysis is not operating with our Lewis acid. Several simple-looking but challenging Diels-Alder reactions with exceptionally rare dienophile/enophile combinations are reported. Another indication is obtained from the chemoselectivity of the catalyses. The silylium ion-catalyzed Diels-Alder reaction is general with regard to the oxidation level of the α,β-unsaturated dienophile (carbonyl and carboxyl), whereas proton catalysis is limited to carbonyl compounds.  相似文献

The extent of substituent influence on the vertical electron affinities (EAs) and ionization energies (IEs) of 43 substituted tria-, penta-, and heptafulvenes was examined computationally at the OVGF/6-311G(d)//B3LYP/6-311G(d) level of theory and compared with those of tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) as representing strong electron-acceptor and -donor compounds, respectively. The substituents X at the exocyclic positions of the fulvenes were either NH(2), H, or CN, while the substituents Y at the ring positions were H, Cl, F, CN, or NH(2). The variations of the EAs and IEs were rationalized by qualitative arguments based on frontier orbital symmetries for the different fulvene classes with either X or Y being constant. The minimum and maximum values found for the calculated EAs of the tria-, penta-, and heptafulvenes were 0.51-2.05, 0.24-3.63, and 0.53-3.14 eV, respectively, and for the IEs 5.27-9.96, 7.07-10.31, and 6.35-10.59 eV, respectively. Two of the investigated fulvenes outperform TCNQ (calcd EA = 2.63 eV) and one outperforms TTF (calcd IE = 6.25 eV) with regard to acceptor and donor abilities, respectively. We also evaluated the properties of bis(fulvene)s, i.e., compounds composed of a donor-type heptafulvene fused with an acceptor-type pentafulvene, and it was revealed that these bis(fulvene)s can be designed so that the IE and EA of the two separate fulvene segments are retained, potentially allowing for the design of compact donor-acceptor dyads.  相似文献

S-oxygenation of dithiocarbamate (DTC) complexes has been implicated in their function as industrial anti-oxidants, as well as in their use as pesticides and most recently in their cumulative toxicity, but little is known of the species generated. Several S-oxygenated derivatives of N,N-disubstituted DTCs have been synthesized, characterized by a variety of methods, and their structure and reactivity examined. Low-temperature reaction of bis(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamato)zinc(II), Zn(deDTC)2 1, with oxygenating reagents (hydrogen peroxide, m-chloroperbenzoic acid, urea hydrogen peroxide) yields mono-oxygenated DTC complexes (N,N-peroxydiethyldithiocarbamato)(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamato)zin(II), Zn(O-deDTC)(deDTC), 2 and bis(N,N-peroxydiethyldithiocarbamato)zinc(II), Zn(O-deDTC)2, 3. The tetraoxygenated derivative bis(N,N-diethylthiocarbamoylsulfinato)zinc(II), Zn(O(2)-deDTC)2, 4, was cleanly obtained by initial reaction of the DTC salts with stoichiometric oxidant prior to complexation with Zn(II). X-ray crystallographic analysis of 2, 3, and 4 show that the peroxydithiocarbamate ligands are S,O-bound. Similar derivatives were obtained from the homoleptic dimethyl and pyrollidine DTC Zn complexes. These oxygenated species display unique 1H and 13C NMR variable-temperature spectra, as the symmetry of DTC ligand is broken upon oxygenation; total line shape analysis (TLSA) was used to compare the energetic parameters for rotation about the C-N bond in several derivatives. Compounds 2, 3, and 4 were deoxygenated by alkyl phosphine, regenerating the parent dithiocarbamate 1. The peroxydithiocarbamate complexes were susceptible to base-catalyzed hydrolytic decomposition, giving ligand-based products indicative of S-oxidation and S-extrusion.  相似文献

Abstract

For a Weyl group G and an automorphism θ of order 2, the set of involutions and θ-twisted involutions can be generated by considering actions by basis elements, creating a poset structure on the elements. Haas and Helminck showed that there is a relationship between these sets and their Bruhat posets. We extend that result by considering other bases and automorphisms. We show for G = Sn, θ an involution, and any basis consisting of transpositions, the extended symmetric space is generated by a similar algorithm. Moreover, there is an isomorphism of the poset graphs for certain bases and θ.  相似文献

In (Aldous, Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc. 128 (2000), 465–477), Aldous constructed a growth process for the binary tree where clusters freeze as soon as they become infinite. It was pointed out by Benjamini and Schramm that such a process does not exist for the square lattice. This motivated us to investigate the modified process on the square lattice, where clusters freeze as soon as they have diameter larger than or equal to N, the parameter of the model. The non‐existence result, mentioned above, raises the question if the N‐ parameter model shows some ‘anomalous’ behaviour as N. For instance, if one looks at the cluster of a given vertex, does, as N, the probability that it eventually freezes go to 1? Does this probability go to 0? More generally, what can be said about the size of a final cluster? We give a partial answer to some of such questions. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Random Struct. Alg., 2012  相似文献

In this paper, the results are presented from a comparative study of the electronic and geometric structure of copper corroles by means of either density functional theory (DFT, using both pure and hybrid functionals) and multiconfigurational ab initio methods, starting from either a complete active space (CASSCF) or restricted active space (RASSCF) reference wave function and including dynamic correlation by means of second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2/RASPT2). DFT geometry optimizations were performed for the lowest singlet and triplet states of copper corrole, both unsubstituted and meso-substituted with three phenyl groups. The effect of saddling on the electronic structure was investigated by comparing the results obtained for planar (C(2v)) and saddled (C(2)) structures. With DFT, the origin of the saddling distortion is found to be dependent on the applied functional: covalent Cu 3d-corrole π interactions with pure functionals (BP86, OLYP), antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between an electron in the corrolate (C(2)) b type π orbital, and an unpaired Cu(II) 3d electron with hybrid functionals (B3LYP, PBE0). The CASPT2 results essentially confirm the suggestion from the hybrid functionals that copper corroles are noninnocent, although the contribution of diradical character to the copper-corrole bond is found to be limited to 50% or less. The lowest triplet state is calculated at 0-10 kcal/mol and conform with the experimental observation (variable temperature NMR) that this state should be thermally accessible.  相似文献

The self-assembly of chiral depsipeptide dendrons 4, which contain a cyanuric acid building block at their focal point, with the homotritopic Hamilton receptor 1 is reported. The 1:3 compositions of the resulting chiral supramolecular dendrimers, the association constants K(n), and the cooperativity of binding expressed by Scatchard plots and the Hill coefficients n(H) was determined by NMR titration experiments. The most pronounced positive cooperativity was found for the complexes 1 L(3) with L being the second-generation dendrons 4 c-e. The least stable complexes are formed with the bulky third-generation dendrons 4 f-h. Similar results are obtained by the corresponding complexation of the achiral Frechét-type first- to third-generation dendrons 3 with 1. Chiroptical investigations of 1:3 complexes of 1 and 4 reveal chirality transfer from the dendron to the Hamilton receptor as demonstrated by the appearance of new CD absorption bands at 310 nm.  相似文献

Green's functions calculations are presented for several complexes of molybdenum and tungsten, two metals that are similar structurally but display subtle, but significant, differences in electronic structure. Outer valence Green's functions IPs for M(CO)6, M(Me)6, MH6, [MCl4O](-), and [MO4](-) (M = Mo, W) are generally within +/-0.2 eV of available experimental photoelectron spectra. The calculations show that electrons in M-L bonding orbitals are ejected at lower energies for Mo while the detachment energy for electrons in d orbitals varies with metal and complex. For the metal carbonyls, the quasiparticle picture assumed in OVGF breaks down for the inner valence pi CO molecular orbitals due to the coupling of two-hole-one-particle charge transfer states to the one-hole states. Incorporation of the 2h1p states through a Tamm-Dancoff approximation calculation accurately represents the band due to detachment from these molecular orbitals. Though the ordering of IPs for Green's functions methods and DFT Koopmans' theorem IPs is similar for the highest IPs for most compounds considered, the breakdown of the quasiparticle picture for the metal carbonyls suggests that scaling of the latter values may result in a fortuitous or incorrect assignment of experimental VDEs.  相似文献

Stepwise acetylenic scaffolding provides cruciform-conjugated molecules with vertically disposed pi-systems, one being an extended tetrathiafulvene (TTF) unit. Two synthetic routes for a cruciform dimer incorporating a total of two extended TTFs was developed, employing either an oxidative Hay coupling reaction as the final dimerization step or as one of the initial steps. Both routes take advantage of ready access to new mono- and diethynylbenzene building blocks incorporating a variety of other functionalitites. The redox and optical properties of the cruciform molecules were investigated by cyclic and differential pulse voltammetries and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The access to multiple redox states renders the molecules attractive candidates as wires, or possibly transistors, for molecular electronics. Generation of a quinoid structure by oxidation is supported by density functional theory calculations.  相似文献
