Local magnetism of Rh in Ni-Rh alloys near the critical composition for ferromagnetism

Local magnetic behaviour of Rh implanted into Ni-Rh alloys near the critical Rh compositionx=0.37 has been studied using the TDPAC method. The observed Curie-Weiss type local susceptibility reflects the presence of large d spin polarization around Rh yielding a total moment of 4.7 _B. Our results show that the magnetism of Rh in the alloys depends strongly on the number of Ni near neighbour atoms.     

Addition of grignard reagents to aryl acid chlorides: an efficient synthesis of aryl ketones

[chemical reaction: see text]. Direct addition of Grignard reagents to acid chlorides in the presence of bis[2-(N,N-dimethylamino)ethyl] ether proceeds selectively to provide aryl ketones in high yields. A possible tridentate interaction between Grignard reagents and bis[2-(N,N-dimethylamino)ethyl] ether moderates the reactivity of Grignard reagents, preventing the newly formed ketones from nucleophilic addition by Grignard reagents.     

Crystal and molecular structure of pyrrolidine dithio carbamate cobalt (III) chelate

Pyrrolidine dithio carbamate (pdtc) cobalt(III) chelate has been used as a coprecipitation matrix for obtaining preconcentration factors of 100 or more for analytical estimation of trace metals in natural waters. This chelate, suitable for bivalent and trivalent ions, crystallizes as dark green crystals in monoclinic space group C2/c with unit cell parametersa = 28.89 ?,b = 14.39 ?,c = 16.17 ? andΒ = 104.2‡. X-ray crystallographic analysis of these crystals reveals that threepdtc are coordinated to a Co ₀ ^{3 +} atom through their sulphur atoms, the six sulphur atoms forming a distorted octahedra around the metal atom at an average distance of 2.26 ?. The thiocarbamate part of the ligands is nearly planar but the pyrrolidine rings are puckered.     

Radiation-induced decomposition of the tributyl phosphate-nitric acid system: Role of nitric acid

Radiation-induced decomposition of tributyl phosphate-nitric acid as a two-component system has been studied. Degradation products, dibutylphosphoric acid (DBP) and monobutylphosphoric acid (MBP), were determined by separation-extraction method. 0.59, 0.78 and 1.38 are the G (DBP) values and 0.15, 0.17 and 0.13 are the G (MBP) values obtained for pure TBP, TBP-3M HNO₃ extract and TBP-5M HNO₃ extract, respectively. G (–HNO₃) values are 5.19 and 6.15 for 3M HNO₃ and 5M HNO₃ extracts. It is shown that nitric acid plays a significant role in enhancing the decomposition of TBP.     

2,6-diaminopurine in TNA: effect on duplex stabilities and on the efficiency of template-controlled ligations

Replacement of adenine by 2,6-diaminopurine-two nucleobases to be considered equivalent from an etiological point of view-strongly enhances the stability of TNA/TNA, TNA/RNA, or TNA/DNA duplexes and efficiently accelerates template-directed ligation of TNA ligands. [reaction: see text]
