Thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity studies on the zirconate,cerate and uranate of barium

The thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of the zirconate, cerate and uranate of barium were investigated by employing the laser flash technique. The variation in the thermal resistivity as a function of temperature was examined and the heat transport behaviour of these materials is discussed.     

Limiting behavior of the eigenvalues of a multivariate F matrix

The spectral distribution of a central multivariate F matrix is shown to tend to a limit distribution in probability under certain conditions as the number of variables and the degrees of freedom tend to infinity.     

On the asymptotic joint distributions of certain functions of the eigenvalues of four random matrices

In this paper, the authors obtained asymptotic expressions for the joint distributions of certain functions of the eigenvalues of the Wishart matrix, correlation matrix, MANOVA matrix and canonical correlation matrix when the population roots have multiplicity.     

Simultaneous determination of carisoprodol and aspirin in human plasma using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry in polarity switch mode: application to a human pharmacokinetic study

A simple, sensitive and rapid LC‐MS/MS‐ESI method has been developed and validated for simultaneous quantification of the carisoprodol and aspirin in human plasma. Carisoprodol was detected in positive ion mode, whereas aspirin was detected in negative ion mode. Carbamazepine and furosemide were used as internal standards (IS) for quantification of carisoprodol and aspirin, respectively. The extraction procedure involves a liquid–liquid extraction method with ter‐butyl methyl ether. Chromatographic separation was achieved on a Zorbax XDB‐Phenyl (4.6 × 75 mm, 3.5 µm) column using an isocratic mobile phase (5 mm ammonium acetate:methanol, 20:80, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min with a total run time of 2.2 min. A detailed method validation was performed as per the FDA guidelines. The standard curves found to be linear in the range of 25.5–4900 and 15.3–3000 ng/mL for carisoprodol and aspirin, respectively. The results met the acceptance criteria. Carisoprodol and aspirin were found to be stable in various stability studies. The validated method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study following co‐administration of carisoprodol (250 mg) and aspirin (75 mg) tablets by oral route to human volunteers. Optical and luminescence properties of Dy3+ ions in K–Sr–Al phosphate glasses for yellow laser applications

Trivalent dysprosium (Dy³⁺)-doped K–Sr–Al phosphate glasses have been prepared and investigated for their optical and luminescence properties. Judd–Ofelt theory has been used to derive radiative properties for the ⁴F_9/2 level of Dy³⁺ ions. The luminescence spectrum of 1.0 mol% Dy₂O₃-doped glass shows intense yellow emission around 572 nm ascribed to ⁴F_9/2 → ⁶H_13/2 transition with 78 % branching ratio and emission cross section of the order of 2.48 × 10^?21 cm². Moreover, the quantum efficiency of the ⁴F_9/2 level has been found to be 76 %. The luminescence decay curves for the yellow emission (⁴F_9/2 → ⁶H_13/2) have been measured and analyzed as a function of Dy³⁺ ion concentration. The results revealed that Dy³⁺-doped phosphate glasses could be useful for yellow laser applications.     

Tungstophosphoric Acid–Catalyzed Imino-Diels–Alder Reaction: An Efficient One-Pot Synthesis of Pyrano- and Furanoquinoline Derivatives

Tungstophosphoric acid has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of pyranos- and furanoquinolines through the Imino-Diels–Alder reaction involving one-pot coupling of benzaldehydes, anilines, and 3,4-dihydro-2 H-pyran or 2,3-dihydrofuran. The products are formed at room temperature in excellent yields in a short period of time.     

Tests for independence of two multivariate regression equations with different design matrices

In this paper, the authors considered various procedures for testing for the independence of two multivariate regression equations with different design matrices. Asymptotic null distributions as well as nonnull distributions under local alternatives of the test statistics associated with the above procedures are also derived.
