Observation of B-->K(0)(S)pi(+)pi(-) and Evidence for B-->K(*+/-)pi(-/+)

We report on a search for charmless hadronic B decays to the three-body final states K(0)(S)h(+)pi(-), K(+)h(-)pi(0), K(0)(S)h(+)pi(0) (h(+/-) denotes a charged pion or kaon), and their charge conjugates, using 13.5 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity produced near sqrt[s]=10.6 GeV, and collected with the CLEO detector. We observe the decay B-->K0pi(+)pi(-) with a branching fraction (50(+10)(-9)(stat.)+/-7(syst.))x10(-6) and the decay B-->K(*+)(892)pi(-) with a branching fraction (16(+6)(-5)(stat.)+/-2(syst.))x10(-6).     

A multigrid method with unstructured adaptive grids for steady Euler equations

The multigrid method based on multi-stage Jacobi relaxation, earlier developed by the authors for structured grid calculations with Euler equations, is extended to unstructured grid applications. The meshes are generated with Delaunay triangulation algorithms and are adapted to the flow solution.     

Photochemistry without light - reaction of active oxalate esters with anthracenophanes

Certain anthracenophanes undergo photochemistry without light, sensitised by active oxalates. Although the quantum yield of sensitisation is extraordinarily high, no direct evidence for the expected radical cation intermediate has been found.     

Mechanistic aspects of (CC) isomerization in vinylic rhodium(III) complexes

Observations concerning the (CC) isomerization of several vinylic Rh^III complexes suggest an intramolecular pathway; isomerization occurs at a rate which is affected by the backbonding ability of the metal and the π-acidity of the vinylic ligand in the complex.     

Quantum oscillatory phenomena in graphite intercalated with AsF5

Both Shubnikov-de Haas and de Haas-van Alphen oscillations are reported for C_8nAsF₅ (n=1,2, is the stage number). The observed oscillations are interpreted in terms of a tight-binding model for the band structure, and good agreement with both band parameters and effective carrier masses is found. In addition, the effective charge transfer per AsF₅ molecule (f=.37 for stage 1, =.41 for stage 2) is in basic agreement with previous determinations.
