Low-noise operation of a 9-GHz hybridly mode-locked laser diode is demonstrated. The integrated timing jitter was 47 fs (10 Hz to 10 MHz) and 86 fs (10 Hz to 4.5 GHz), with a pulse width of 6.7 ps. The noise performance as a function of filter bandwidth and oscillator noise is also addressed.  相似文献

We present a novel on-chip method for quantitative two-dimensional differential phase imaging. This technique uses four circular holes (600 nm diameter, 1.2 mum spacing) arranged in a 'plus' pattern that are fabricated in a layer of metal above a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) imaging sensor. The interference pattern of the aperture shifts position with respect to the differential phase of the incident light. By imaging the interference pattern with the CMOS sensor, this method measures amplitude and differential phase (1 degrees /microm sensitivity for signal-to-noise ratio >/=16 dB) of the incident light field simultaneously. An application to optical beam profiling is presented; we show the amplitude and differential phase profiles of a Gaussian laser beam and an optical vortex.  相似文献

A determination of the angular distribution parameter beta of the atomic chlorine 3s photoelectrons over the photon-energy range from 29 to 70 eV has been carried out using electron spectrometry in conjunction with synchrotron radiation. Our results confirm the basic theoretical predictions that beta, for s-subshell photoionization in open-shell atoms, is in general term and photon-energy dependent, in contrast to closed-shell atoms where beta is always 2 nonrelativistically. However, our measurements of beta for the Cl+ 3s((1,3)P) channels demonstrate that significant details are not handled well by simple Hartree-Fock theory.  相似文献

We report heat dissipation times in semiconductor nanocrystals of CdSe. Specifically, a previously unresolved, subnanosecond decay component in the low-temperature photoluminescence decay dynamics exhibits longer decay lifetimes (tens to hundreds of picoseconds) for larger nanocrystals as well as a size-independent, ~25-meV spectral shift. We attribute the fast relaxation to transient phonon-mediated relaxation arising from nonequilibrium acoustic phonons. Following acoustic phonon dissipation, the dark exciton state recombines more slowly via LO-phonon assistance resulting in the observed spectral shift. The measured relaxation time scales agree with classical calculations of thermal diffusion, indicating that interfacial thermal conductivity does not limit thermal transport in these semiconductor nanocrystal dispersions.  相似文献

We study the relation between the spectral gap above the ground state and the decay of the correlations in the ground state in quantum spin and fermion systems with short-range interactions on a wide class of lattices. We prove that, if two observables anticommute with each other at large distance, then the nonvanishing spectral gap implies exponential decay of the corresponding correlation. When two observables commute with each other at large distance, the connected correlation function decays exponentially under the gap assumption. If the observables behave as a vector under the U(1) rotation of a global symmetry of the system, we use previous results on the large distance decay of the correlation function to show the stronger statement that the correlation function itself, rather than just the connected correlation function, decays exponentially under the gap assumption on a lattice with a certain self-similarity in (fractal) dimensions D < 2. In particular, if the system is translationally invariant in one of the spatial directions, then this self-similarity condition is automatically satisfied. We also treat systems with long-range, power-law decaying interactions.  相似文献

The purpose of the present article is to extend the scope of some investigations about abstract logics arising quite naturally out of Quasi-MV algebras (for short, qMV algebras) also to ?{}\sqrt{^{\prime}} qMV algebras. We will therefore introduce, mutually compare and (in some cases) axiomatise several logics arising out of the variety of ?{}\sqrt{^{\prime}} qMV algebras and out of some important subclasses of such. Thermally or chemically strengthened glass is more resistant to damage and breakage compared to non-strengthened glass. Both strengthening mechanisms are based on incorporation of a compressive stress profile in the surface of the glass, which must be balanced by an equivalent amount of integrated tensile stress in the interior of the glass. This tensile stress is believed to affect the kinetics of Stage III crack propagation upon fracture of the sample. In this study, we use a high-speed camera to perform direct measurement of the kinetics of Stage III fracture in a strengthened glass sample. Data including crack propagation speed, crack bifurcation distance, and bifurcation angles are collected at a rate of 500,000 frames per second and then characterized. The authors believe that these data will provide a foundation for understanding the physics of Stage III fracture in strengthened glass samples.  相似文献

When analyzing the two-dimensional multiple scattering of electromagnetic waves by cylinders, the incident, scattered, and transmitted fields need to be represented by infinite sums of cylindrical wave modes. These infinite sums need to be truncated to a finite limit in order to calculate the scattering matrix. The accuracy of the scattered field representation and the stability of the matrix inversion are both critically dependent on the truncation limit. The parameters involved in the scattering are analyzed to determine their effect on the upper and lower bounds of an appropriate modal truncation.  相似文献

Positron-lifetime measurements have been used to study the annealing of vacancies in neutron-irradiated GaAs. The vacancies which are interpreted as defects in the Ga sublattice disappear in a single annealing stage (at 500°C in GaAs doped with Si or Zn, and at 600°C in Cr-doped GaAs).  相似文献
