The differential cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons has been measured as a function of the photon transverse energy E(T)(γ) in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV using data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 pb(-1). Photons are required to have a pseudorapidity |η(γ)|<1.45 and E(T)(γ)>21 GeV, covering the kinematic region 0.006相似文献

A search for pair production of first-generation scalar leptoquarks is performed in the final state containing two electrons and two jets using proton-proton collision data at √s = 7 TeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 33 pb?1 collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions for the standard model background processes, and an upper limit is set on the leptoquark pair production cross section times β2 as a function of the leptoquark mass, where β is the branching fraction of the leptoquark decay to an electron and a quark. A 95% confidence level lower limit is set on the mass of a first-generation scalar leptoquark at 384 GeV for β = 1, which is the most stringent direct limit to date.  相似文献

A study of events with missing transverse energy and an energetic jet is performed using pp collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). An excess of these events over standard model contributions is a signature of new physics such as large extra dimensions and unparticles. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the prediction of the standard model, and significant extension of the current limits on parameters of new physics benchmark models is achieved.  相似文献

The import of thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP) through both mitochondrial membranes was studied using a total of 3-µs molecular dynamics simulations. Regarding the translocation through the mitochondrial outer membrane, our simulations support the conjecture that TPP uses the voltage-dependent anion channel, the major pore of this membrane, for its passage to the intermembrane space, as its transport presents significant analogies with that used by other metabolites previously studied, in particular with ATP. As far as passing through the mitochondrial inner membrane is concerned, our simulations show that the specific carrier of TPP has a single binding site that becomes accessible, through an alternating access mechanism. The preference of this transporter for TPP can be rationalized mainly by three residues located in the binding site that differ from those identified in the ATP/ADP carrier, the most studied member of the mitochondrial carrier family. The simulated transport mechanism of TPP highlights the essential role, at the energetic level, of the contributions coming from the formation and breakage of two networks of salt bridges, one on the side of the matrix and the other on the side of the intermembrane space, as well as the interactions, mainly of an ionic nature, formed by TPP upon its binding. The energy contribution provided by the cytosolic network establishes a lower barrier than that of the matrix network, which can be explained by the lower interaction energy of TPP on the matrix side or possibly a uniport activity.

We construct entanglement witnesses with regard to the geometric structure of the Hilbert-Schmidt space and investigate the geometry of entanglement. In particular, for a two-parameter family of two-qutrit states that are part of the magic simplex, we calculate the Hilbert-Schmidt measure of entanglement. We present a method to detect bound entanglement which is illustrated for a three-parameter family of states. In this way, we discover new regions of bound entangled states. Furthermore, we outline how to use our method to distinguish entangled from separable states.  相似文献

We calculate helicity amplitudes and decay rates for Zweig-forbidden radiative decays of a 3S1(QQ) bound state into 1S0(qq) and3PJ(qq) states in lowest-order QCD. We employ a new technique of scalarizing loop integrals by using covariant helicity projectors. Thereby we are able to integrate analytically all occuring loop integrals.When applied to Jψ decays our results are in reasonable agreement with present experimental results. ψ′ decays will provide a further test of the model. Transitions from bottonium to charmonium are most interesting since there all dynamical assumptions are well satisfied. Unfortunately the transitions rates are very small.  相似文献

We investigate the decay of a heavy3 S 1 (Q \(\bar Q\) vector meson into a real photon and two off-shell intermediate gluons which create a3 P 1(q \(\bar q\) ) axial vector meson. As an application we suggest to look for the decayJ/?→ψ+D(1285) andΥ→γ1+P c 1++→γ1→γ2+J/ψ.  相似文献

We construct a class of Garside groupoid structures on the pure braid groups, one for each function (called labelling) from the punctures to the integers greater than 1. The object set of the groupoid is the set of ball decompositions of the punctured disk; the labels are the perimeters of the regions. Our construction generalises Garside's original Garside structure, but not the one by Birman-Ko-Lee. As a consequence, we generalise the Tamari lattice ordering on the set of vertices of the associahedron.

A search for a Higgs boson in the four-lepton decay channel H→ZZ, with each Z boson decaying to an electron or muon pair, is reported. The search covers Higgs boson mass hypotheses in the range of 110100 GeV (with 13 below 160 GeV), while 67.1±6.0 (9.5±1.3) events are expected from background. The four-lepton mass distribution is consistent with the expectation of standard model background production of ZZ pairs. Upper limits at 95% confidence level exclude the standard model Higgs boson in the ranges of 134-158 GeV, 180-305 GeV, and 340-465 GeV. Small excesses of events are observed around masses of 119, 126, and 320 GeV, making the observed limits weaker than expected in the absence of a signal.  相似文献

A search for signatures of extra spatial dimensions in the diphoton invariant-mass spectrum has been performed with the CMS detector at the LHC. No excess of events above the standard model expectation is observed using a data sample collected in proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb(-1). In the context of the large-extra-dimensions model, lower limits are set on the effective Planck scale in the range of 2.3-3.8 TeV at the 95% confidence level. These limits are the most restrictive bounds on virtual-graviton exchange to date. The most restrictive lower limits to date are also set on the mass of the first graviton excitation in the Randall-Sundrum model in the range of 0.86-1.84 TeV, for values of the associated coupling parameter between 0.01 and 0.10.  相似文献
