Intramolecular double michael reaction III Stereoselective chiral synthesis of atisiran-15-one

Atisiran-15-one (5) was stereoselectively synthesized starting from the ketone (10) through the intramolecular double Michael reaction.     

Lithium ion conductors of polyion complexes dispersed with LiClO4 and their application to solid-state batteries

Polyion complexes between poly(sodium acrylate) $\text{2}$ and polybrene $\text{3}$, or poly(2-acrylamino-2-methylpropane sulfonate) $\text{2}$ and $\text{2}$ were synthesized. After removing sodium bromide, these polymers were dispersed with LiClO₄, and their Li⁺ conductivities were measured at 80 ～ 200°C. Their ionic conductivities changed from 10^-3 to 10^-8 S cm^-1 at 100 ～ 200°C. These polymers and poly(ethylene oxide) dispersed with LiBF₄ were used as solid electrolytes of Li-activated carbon fiber (ACF) batteries and ACF-ACF capacitor.     

Infrared seed inspection system (IRSIS) on painted car shells

This paper describes a newly-developed automated thermal system for detection of seeds on newly painted car shells. The system’s novel approach is to use thermal emission; previously applied techniques relied on light reflection strategies. The system is described beginning with analytical modeling of the underlying detection theory to verification on a pilot run in an automotive production line. Parker’s flash procedure, using a thermal detector, was performed to extract the thermal properties of inspected panels. New computer logic developed in-house for processing the acquired thermograms is also presented.     

Violation of Hund's rule in the lowest excited singlet-triplet pairs of dicyclohepta[cd,gh]pentalene and dicyclopenta[ef,kl]heptalene

Using the Pariser-Parr-Pople type MO method, the energy ordering of the lowest excited singlet-triplet pairs of the title molecules is examined by taking into account ample configuration interactions. In dicyclohepta[cd,gh]pentalene, it is shown that the lowest excited singlet state lies below the corresponding triplet state by about 6 kcal/mol. This violation of Hund's rule is ascribed entirely to the correlation effects brought about by spin polarization terms. Such a violation of Hund's rule is expected to occur in the lowest excited states of dicyclopenta[ef,kl]heptalene.     

The first x-ray structure determination of a -phosphaethylene: -2-phenyl-1-(2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenyl)phosphaethylene

The sterically protected -phosphaethylene, -2-phenyl-1-(2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenyl)phosphaethylene (1-Z), was analyzed by X-ray crystallography.     

Brief comment on electro-weak breaking in superstring inspired model

We reconsider Kalyniak and Sundaresan's (KS's) criticism about the models obtained by Breit et al. totally from a more phenomenological point of view. We study which fields inN _f (27) must acquire the vacuum expectation value (vev) rather than ones in \(\delta (27 + \overline {27} )\) in order to break down toSU(3) _c ×U(1)_em symmetry without any extraU(1) at weak scale and endow quarks and leptons with masses. General sets of fields to acquire the vev are obtained. Further utilizing maximally the light components of \(\delta (27 + \overline {27} )\) , minimal sets of fields inN _f (27) to acquire the vev is listed up in each case of Breit et al. Also applying the conditions given there to more general cases, we find that there is only model free from KS's criticism.     

Littlewood-paley operators on the generalized Lipschitz spaces

Littlewood-Paley operators defined on a new kind of generalized Lipschitz spaces ₀ ^,p are studied. It is proved that the image of a function under the action of these operators is either equal to infinity almost everywhere or is in ₀ ^,p , where –n<<1 and 1<p<.     

Preparation of silk fibroin-supported Pd(0) catalyst for chemoselective hydrogenation: reduction of palladium(II) acetate by methanol on the protein

The Pd/fibroin (Fib) was easily prepared by the auto-reduction of the silk-fibroin conjugated Pd(OAc)₂ using MeOH as a solvent and a reductant and exhibited good chemoselectivity in the hydrogenation of olefins and azides in the presence of aromatic carbonyls and/or halogens or an O-benzyl protective group.
