C3-Symmetry tris-urea low molecular weight gelator (LMWG) (1), which shows chemical stimuli responsible for a sol-gel phase transition, was divided into five regions. Based on the division, 22 derivatives were synthesized. The gelation ability of these derivatives was tested in nine organic solvents with a wide range of values for relative static permittivity (?r=47.2-1.89). Some derivatives showed a better performance as LMWGs than the original tris-urea LMWG (1). For example, the critical gelation concentration (CGC) in acetone was improved from 1.5 wt % to 0.5 wt % by changing the core substituent (18). Highly versatile LMWG for a variety of solvents was obtained by changing the linker moiety (23). Structural information to design tris-urea LMWGs is important to create rationally a functional supramolecular gel. 相似文献

The induced Chern-Simons term for a paired electron state is calculated in the
quantum Hall system by using a field theory on the von Neumann lattice.
The coefficient of the Chern-Simons term, which is the Hall conductance,
has not only the usual term proportional to a filling factor due to
P (parity) & T (time reversal) symmetry breaking
but also correction terms due to P & T & U(1) symmetry breaking.
The correction term essentially comes from the Nambu-Goldstone
mode and depends on an infrared limit.
It is shown that the correction term is related to a topological number of a gap function

The fracture toughness of liquid‐crystalline epoxy systems, which had a nematic polydomain structure (domain size about 40 μm), with an increasing loading rate was evaluated. In this system, the fracture toughness dramatically decreased from 1.96 to 0.22 MN/m3/2 with an increasing loading rate (0.1–5 mm/min). The network orientation near the fracture surface of different loading rate systems was investigated with polarized optical microscopy and polarized infrared spectroscopy. As a result, a large oriented region of mesogenic groups was observed near the fracture surface in the relatively low loading rate (0.1 and 0.5 mm/min) systems, but such a phenomenon was not observed in the high loading rate (2 and 5 mm/min) systems. These results showed that the high fracture toughness of the system at the low loading rate was due to the magnitude and region of the reorientation of the mesogenic groups in the fracture process and that high toughness could not be achieved at a high loading rate because the loading rate was too fast to allow orientation of the networks containing the mesogenic groups. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 137Cs determination in seawater with a smaller sample volume of 10 liter by using ultra-low background gamma-spectrometry in

A corona-charged aerosol detector (CAD) was developed to improve the sensitivity, reproducibility and quantitativeness of detection as compared to evaporative light-scattering detector (ELSD) for liquid chromatography. Our laboratory used the corona CAD as a detector for supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) and evaluated its performance compared to the ELSD by using a certified reference material of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and a well-defined equimass mixture of uniform PEG oligomers. The corona CAD was able to detect a 10 times more dilute solution of uniform oligomers compared to the ELSD. Although the original data of molecular mass by ELSD was 4.6% smaller than the certified value of PEG 1000, molecular mass distribution obtained by corona CAD was virtually almost the same as the certified value without any calibrations. 相似文献
