Elastic scattering of protons and neutrons on 40Ca by the density-dependent Hartree-Fock field

We use the self-consistent density-dependent Hartree-Fock field as the real part of the optical model potential. Introducing a phenomenological imaginary potential, we describe elastic scattering of protons and neutrons on ⁴⁰Ca at several incident energies. Results show that the density-dependent Hartree-Fock field, including the rearrangement potential, well reproduces differential cross sections and polarizations simultaneously. This calculation explicitly shows a unified way to understand the ground-state properties and the scattering problem. Detailed study is given the properties of the non-local Hartree-Fock field, via the WKB equivalent local potential.     

Preparation of 3-acetoacetylaminobenzo[b]furan derivatives with cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 2 antagonistic activity

Novel 3-acetoacetylaminobenzo[b]furan derivatives with a modified triene system at the 3-position were prepared through acylation of the 3-aminobenzo[b]furans with 5-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid chloride followed by basic cleavage of the isoxazole ring and several of these compounds showed moderate cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 2 antagonistic activity.     

Experimental considerations for steady state edge excavation under a constant cutting depth for a mortar specimen using a disk cutter bit

This paper aims to investigate experimentally steady state excavation performance under a constant cutting depth, especially the specific cutting energy of a disk cutter bit in the free edge part of a mortar specimen. Here, the tangential, lateral and normal forces acting on a disk cutter bit having three tip angles and the amount of debris were measured for several cutting spaces and cutting depths. As a result, it was observed that the specific cutting energy, i.e. the ratio of the excavation power of the disk cutter bit to the amount of debris, showed a minimum value of the ratio of cutting space to cutting depth of five, at which ratio the most efficient excavation could be attained.     

Misleading fringes in TEM images and diffraction patterns of Si nanocrystallites

High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) images and electron diffraction patterns of twinned Si nanocrystallites were recorded along various directions and analyzed in detail. We point out that special attention must be paid when interpreting HRTEM images and diffraction patterns of twinned Si nanocrystallites, because elongation of reciprocal lattice points could fabricate misleading fringes and patterns. Integrals of psi—function

To the author's knowledge, among the so—called special functions, the gamma function is a unique one which is defined by a linear difference equation and is a hyper—transcendental function. There exists an another well—known hyper—transcendental function called the psi function, which is merely the logarithmic derivative of the gamma function. In this paper the author consider an extension of the gamma function and then obtain a series of integrals of the psi function.
