High reversibility during crystallization leads to relatively defect-free crystals through repair of nonperiodic inclusions, including those derived from impurities. Microporous coordination polymers (MCPs) can achieve a high level of crystallinity through a related mechanism whereby coordination defects are repaired, leading to single crystals. In this work, we discovered and exploited the fact that this process is far from perfect for MCPs and that a minority ligand that is coordinatively identical to but distinct in shape from the majority linker can be inserted into the framework, resulting in defects. The reaction of Zn(II) with 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (H(2)BDC) in the presence of small amounts of 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (H(3)BTB) leads to a new crystalline material, MOF-5(O(h)), that is nearly identical to MOF-5 but has an octahedral morphology and a number of defect sites that are uniquely functionalized with dangling carboxylates. The reaction with Pd(OAc)(2) impregnates the metal ions, creating a heterogeneous catalyst with ultrahigh surface area. The Pd(II)-catalyzed phenylation of naphthalene within Pd-impregnated MOF-5(O(h)) demonstrates the potential utility of an MCP framework for modulating the reactivity and selectivity of such transformations. Furthermore, this novel synthetic approach can be applied to different MCPs and will provide scaffolds functionalized with catalytically active metal species.  相似文献

A GC-high-resolution isotope dilution MS (IDMS) method for the quantification of melamine in milk powder is described. The developed technique is compared to the LC-IDMS/MS technique, typically used for the determination of melamine in various matrices. The accuracy of the GC-high-resolution IDMS method was demonstrated when a small degree of equivalence was obtained in a regional comparative study involving the determination of melamine in milk powder.  相似文献

Nanodisk heterostructures consisting of monoclinic Cu(1.94)S and wurtzite CdS have been colloidally synthesized for the first time. Initially, hexagonal-shaped nanodisks of Cu(1.94)S were produced upon thermolysis of a copper complex in a solvent mixture of HDA and TOA at 250 °C. Rapid addition of Cd precursor to the reaction mixture resulted in the partial conversion of Cu(1.94)S into CdS, yielding Cu(1.94)S-CdS nanoheterostructures. The original morphology of the Cu(1.94)S nanodisks was conserved during the transformation. When Zn precursor was added together with the Cd precursor, Cu(1.94)S-Zn(x)Cd(1-x)S nanodisks were generated. These two-component nanostructures are potentially useful in the fabrication of heterojunction solar cells.  相似文献

There is increasing evidence of a biochemical link between lipid oxidation and bone metabolism. Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) prevents the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and metabolizes biologically active phospholipids in oxidized LDLs. Here, we performed association analyses of genetic variation in PON1 to ascertain its contribution to osteoporotic fractures (OFs) and bone mineral density (BMD). We directly sequenced the PON1 gene in 24 Korean individuals and identified 26 sequence variants. A large population of Korean postmenopausal women (n=1,329) was then genotyped for eight selected PON1 polymorphisms. BMD at the lumbar spine and femoral neck was measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Lateral thoracolumbar (T4-L4) radiographs were obtained for vertebral fracture assessment, and the occurrence of non-vertebral fractures (i.e., wrist, hip, forearm, humerus, rib, and pelvis) was examined using self-reported data. Multivariate analyses showed that none of the polymorphisms was associated with BMD at either site. However, +5989A>G and +26080T>C polymorphisms were significantly associated with non-vertebral and vertebral fractures, respectively, after adjustment for covariates. Specifically, the minor allele of +5989A>G exerted a highly protective effect against non-vertebral fractures (OR=0.59, P=0.036), whereas the minor allele of +26080T>C was associated with increased susceptibility to vertebral fractures (OR=1.73, P=0.020). When the risk for any OFs (i.e., vertebral or non-vertebral) was considered, the statistical significance of both polymorphisms persisted (P=0.002-0.010). These results suggest that PON1 polymorphisms could be one of useful genetic markers for OF risk in postmenopausal women.  相似文献

The influence of the elongation rate and temperature on the ultimate tensile properties of melt‐crystallized linear polyethylene solids was investigated, with a double‐edge‐notched specimen to avoid necking, in which uniform deformation could be assumed throughout the experiment. The data on ultimate properties such as the tensile strength and elongation at break for different temperatures could be superimposed, by shifts along the elongation rate axis, to give a master curve as a function of the time to rupture. The shift factors obtained from the superpositioning of both the tensile strength and ultimate strain took the form of the Williams–Landel–Ferry equation. As a result, the ultimate data provided a failure envelope curve that made it possible to predict rupture times when the tensile tests were conducted under any experimental conditions. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The performance of flash furnace burners can be evaluated quickly and efficiently using CFD modelling. Gas flows are modelled using the conventional Eulerian approach, while Lagrangian particle tracking is used to model the flow of solid feed through the burner and into the reaction shaft. A composite particle model has been developed that considers the solid feed to be made up of single particles containing appropriate quantities of concentrate, flux and dust. Solid fuels (such as coal) can also be included in the composite particle. Reactions between the solids and gas are then modelled using standard heat and mass transfer relationships. Results from the modelling process are shown for BHP-Billiton’s Olympic Dam copper flash smelter with the burner that was used from 1998–2003. Flow patterns, temperature and gas composition distributions, particle dispersion and residence time, and overall extent of sulphur removal are predicted and used to evaluate furnace performance. However, results are sensitive to the assumed size of the composite particles, and plant measurements are required to determine the appropriate composite particle size to predict quantitative data.  相似文献
