The effect of the grain-shape (‘morphological’) texture of a polycrystal on the mechanical elastic constants and diffraction (X-ray) stress factors is investigated. To this end, the Eshelby–Kröner grain interaction model originally devised for polycrystals consisting of spherical grains is extended to ellipsoidal grain morphology. Results obtained for the mechanical elastic constants show that a polycrystal consisting of ellipsoidal grains with their principal axes aligned along common directions (i.e. when an ideal grain-shape texture occurs) is macroscopically elastically anisotropic. Also the diffraction (X-ray) stress factors are affected by the grain-shape texture; they reflect the macroscopic elastic anisotropy by resulting in nonlinear so-called sin2?ψ plots. In general, a grain-shape texture can have a moderate effect on the mechanical elastic constants and a pronounced effect on the diffraction elastic constants, depending on the crystal symmetry and single-crystal elastic anisotropy. 相似文献

The current study presents the results of the activity of radionuclides in spa waters, and evaluates their radiological influences on the population consuming these waters in the Central and Eastern Black Sea regions of Turkey. Since these waters are used for therapy and consumption purposes unconsciously, their radiological impact on the people was computed by taking into consideration the annual intake through ingestion of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, 137Cs and 222Rn. The mean activities were estimated to be 11.35 for gross alpha, 6.23 for gross beta, 2.96 for 226Ra, 0.42 for 232Th, 0.069 for 137Cs, 0.19 for 40K, and 267 Bq L–1 for 222Rn, respectively. The estimated effective doses from spa water were found to be 49.77 µSv a–1 (226Ra), 5.95 µSv a–1 (232Th), 0.07 µSv a–1 (137Cs), 0.83 µSv a–1 (40K) and 56.03 µSv a–1 (222Rn). These values were evaluated and compared with related verified values from literature. Also, physico-chemical characterizations of spa water samples considered in the current study were investigated. Roughness reduction of a submicron waveguide profile in chemically amplified negative resist is here performed by proper selection of an alkali-based developer, taking into account that its smaller molecules lead to smoother resist surface by altering the developing mechanism of aggregate extraction performed with standard quaternary ammonium hydroxide. This article concerns the analysis of an unsteady stagnation point flow of Eyring-Powell nanofluid over a stretching sheet. The influence of thermophoresis and Brownian motion is also considered in transport equations. The nonlinear ODE set is obtained from the governing nonlinear equations via suitable transformations. The numerical experiments are performed using the Galerkin scheme. A tabular form comparison analysis of outcomes attained via the Galerkin approach and numerical scheme (RK-4) is available to show the credibility of the Galerkin method. The numerical exploration is carried out for various governing parameters, namely, Brownian motion, steadiness, thermophoresis, stretching ratio, velocity slip, concentration slip, thermal slip, and fluid parameters, and Hartmann, Prandtl and Schmidt numbers. The velocity of fluid enhances with an increase in fluid and magnetic parameters for the case of opposing, but the behavior is reversed for assisting cases. The Brownian motion and thermophoresis parameters cause an increase in temperature for both cases (assisting and opposing). The Brownian motion parameter provides a drop-in concentration while an increase is noticed for the thermophoresis parameter. All the outcomes and the behavior of emerging parameters are illustrated graphically. The comparison analysis and graphical plots endorse the appropriateness of the Galerkin method. We present the results of a XAS experiment carried out at the Ti 2p edge on well-ordered TiOx ultrathin films grown on the Pt(1 1 1) surface. XAS at the Ti 2p edge has been extensively applied to the study of Ti bulk compounds, particularly to the study of titania. According to the literature, the corresponding Ti 2p edge spectral shape is related to the stoichiometry and crystal field symmetry at the Ti sites. In the present study we aim at extending the potential of the XAS technique by discussing Ti 2p spectra obtained on several, dimensionally confined, TiOx phases in the form of ultrathin films. One of the main features of these films is their high degree of structural order. Furthermore, the results of previous studies provide valuable information about the chemistry and structure of the films, so that we are able to analyse the current XAS data in detail and to compare them with the appropriate Ti 2p XAS data of bulk oxides. We find that in the case of ultrathin film with a fully oxidised Ti4+ stoichiometry, the Ti 2p XAS data display features that are very similar to the ones observed in related bulk systems. The XAS data of the reduced TiOx films (with x < 2) show a rather different and specific shape. By comparing the experimental spectra with an atomic type of model calculation we show that the Ti 2p XAS profiles can be attributed mainly to stoichiometry-symmetry effects. 相似文献

We propose an operational degree of polarization in terms of the variance of the Stokes vector minimized over all the directions of the Poincaré sphere. We examine the properties of this second-order definition and carry out its experimental determination. Quantum states with the same standard (first-order) degree of polarization are correctly discriminated by this new measure. We argue that a comprehensive quantum characterization of polarization properties requires a whole hierarchy of higher-order degrees. 相似文献
