The use of composite patches on cracked portions of metallic aircraft structures is an accepted means of improving fatigue life and attaining high structural efficiency. As more and more advanced composite materials are beng developed, the wider use of the repair technology is anticipated even for the reinforcement of primary aircraft structure. The objective of this work is to illustrate how the composite patch repair technology can be successfully applied to restore the structural integrity of cracked components.The Phosphoric Acid Anodize (PAA) surface treatment on aluminum when applied in conjunction with the AVI13/HV998 adhesive were essential for achieving the appropriate patch bonding strength. Such a process was done without immersing the component into the PAA tank; dismantling the component from the aircraft was not necessary. Boron/epoxy and carbon/epoxy patches were applied at room temperature to the 7075-T6511 cracked specimens and tested under fatigue simulating the load spectrum for the upper longeron attached to the access door of the electronic equipment bay. Considerable improvement in the fatigue life was observed after the repair. Equivalent flight test hours were increased from approximately two thousand hours at which the component fractured completely when not repired to twelve thousand hours when the repair was made with only a small amount of crack growth. A six times increase fatigue life is obtained. The laboratory developed technique has been applied to several in-service aircraft which have now been flown for more than 700 h without detection of crack growth.  相似文献

This paper investigates the effects of corrugation angle (β) on the developing laminar forced convection and entropy generation in a wavy channel with numerical methods. The studied cases cover β = 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, 30- and 35°, whilst Reynolds number (Re) is varied as 100, 200 and 400. The analyzed flow characteristics include recirculating flows, secondary vortices, temperature distributions, and friction factor as well as Nusselt number. In particular, the effects of corrugation angle on the distributions and magnitudes of local entropy generation resulted from frictional irreversibility (S P ′′′) and heat transfer irreversibility (S T ′′′) are separately discussed in detail in the present paper. Based on the minimal entropy generation principle, the optimal corrugation angle and favorable Re are reported.  相似文献

In this work the isoparametric shear spring element is applied to the stress and energy analysis of a center-crack panel reinforced by a rectangular patch. In this model, only transverse shears are assumed to prevail in the adhesive layer. The stresses and crack-tip stress intensity factors are obtained for reinforcement on both sides and one side of the panel, and are found to be in agreement with those obtained by previous authors using the triangular shear spring element.Crack stability that tends to vary with patch thickness is determined from the local and global maximum of the minimum strain energy density function denoted, respectively, as [(dW/dV)minmax]L at point L and [(dW/dV)minmax]G at point G. The distance l between L and G gives the prospective path of subcritical crack growth and its magnitude provides a measure of the degree of crack stability. A patched panel with small l tends to be more stable than that with large l. By increasing the patch thickness beyond a certain value, l can be contained within the patch such that failure, if initiated, will be highly localized. Such a behavior is exhibited. Numerical results are provided to support the foregoing conclusion.  相似文献

Formation of multiple shocklets in a transonic diffuser flow   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Multiple shocklets are frequently generated in transonic diffuser flows. The present paper investigates the formation of these shocklets with a high-speed CCD camera combined with the schlieren method. It is observed that compression waves steepen while propagating upstream, and eventually become new shock waves. The ordinary shock wave is found to move upstream beyond the nozzle throat or to disappear while moving downstream depending on the pressure ratio across the nozzle. This phenomenon is also analyzed with the one-dimensional Euler equations by assuming a pressure disturbance given by the sine function at the channel exit. The calculated results are found to reproduce quite well the experimental behavior of the shocklets. The effect of the frequency of disturbance is also studied numerically, and it is shown that the multiple shocklet pattern appears when the amplitude of disturbance is not large and the diverging part of the channel downstream of the ordinary shock wave is long. A theoretical model which allows us to determine the permeability of a fibrous porous medium is proposed. Fibres are assumed to be parallel and nonuniform in space and material with a low volume fraction of fibres is considered. The model includes two geometric parameters: the diameter of fibres and the diameter of caverns or fissures inside the bundle of fibres. The tensor of permeability of the porous medium is determined based upon a generalized cell model. The components of permeability tensor depend on two parameters which are determined using experimental data and least-squares approximation. The influence of the geometric parameters on components of permeability tensor is discussed.  相似文献

A high-speed and initial helium jet flow has been analyzed by a developed four-dimensional digital speckle tomography. Multiple high-speed cameras have been used to capture movements of speckles in multiple angles of view simultaneously because a shape of a nozzle for the jet flow is asymmetric and the initial jet flow is fast and unsteady. The speckle movements between no flow and helium jet flow from the asymmetric nozzle controlled by a solenoid valve have been obtained by a cross-correlation tracking method so that those distances can be transferred to deflection angles of laser rays for density gradients. The four-dimensional density fields for the high-speed helium jet flow have been reconstructed from the deflection angles by a developed real-time tomography method.  相似文献

We study a one-dimensional system composed of N charged bosons confined in an external harmonic potential. In the limit of a strong interaction between the particles, we apply the harmonic approximation and derive an integral representation for the purity of the one-particle reduced density matrix, enabling an easy determination of the asymptotic entanglement. Results for the dependence of the asymptotic linear entropy on N are provided and discussed in detail for the first time.  相似文献

The paper reports on photoelectrical performance of the mid-wave infrared HgCdTe detector for high operating temperature condition. Detector structure was simulated with APSYS numerical platform by Crosslight Inc. The comprehensive analysis of the detector performance such as dark current, detectivity, time response vs. device architecture and applied bias has been performed. The N+pP+n+ HgCdTe heterostructure photodiode operating in room temperature at a wavelength range of 2.6–3.6 μm enabled to reach: detectivity ~8.7×1010 cmHz1/2/W, responsivity ~1.72 A/W and time response ~ 145 ps (V = 200 mV).  相似文献

We have isolated two isomeric solids 1 and 2 of N,N′‐bis(3,5‐dichlorosalicylidene)‐2,2′‐ethylenedianiline and characterized by IR, UV/Vis, X‐ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis, and X‐ray crystallography. Although the solids are same formulas, each shows different colors and crystal structures. Orange solid ( 1 ) shows endo conformation while yellow solid ( 2 ) exhibits exo form depending on packing modes. UV/Vis spectra of 1 and 2 appear very similar patterns in the solid state; however, the bands of 1 are slightly red‐shifted compared with those of 2 . 1 displays a strong fluorescent emission band at ~582 nm while 2 shows an intense fluorescent signal at ~563 nm. The charge density populations of 1 and 2 have been studied by computational simulations using density functional theory at pbe1pbe/6‐311G** level. The calculated highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energies of 1 and 2 confirm that charge transfer occurs within the organic molecules. The energy difference of HOMO‐LUMO in 1 is smaller slightly than that of 2 about 0.05 eV (~17 nm). Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Anisotropic microarchitectures with different physicochemical properties have been developed as advanced materials for challenging industrial and biomedical applications including switchable displays, multiplexed biosensors and bioassays, spatially‐controlled drug delivery systems, and tissue engineering scaffolds. In this study, anisotropic biohybrid microparticles (MPs) spatio‐selectively conjugated with two different antibodies (Abs) are first developed for fluorescence‐based, multiplexed sensing of biological molecules. Poly(acrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) is chemically modified with maleimide‐ or acetylene groups to introduce different targeting biological moieties into each compartment of anisotropic MPs. Modified polymer solutions containing two different fluorescent dyes are separately used for electrohydrodynamic co‐jetting with side‐by‐side needle geometry. The anisotropic MPs are chemically stabilized by thermal imidization, followed by bioconjugation of two different sets of polyclonal Abs with two individual compartments via maleimide‐thiol coupling reaction and Huisgen 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition. Finally, two compartments of the anisotropic biohybrid MPs are spatio‐selectively associated with the respective monoclonal Ab‐immobilized substrate in the presence of the antigen by sandwich‐type immunocomplex formation, resulting in their ordered orientation due to the spatio‐specific molecular interaction, as confirmed by confocal laser scanning microscopy. In conclusion, anisotropic biohybrid MPs capable of directional binding have great potential as a new fluorescence‐based multiplexing biosensing system.
