Probing electronic femtosecond (fs) coherence among segmental sites that are congested by static and dynamic site disorder and subject to structural relaxation is a big, experimental challenge in the study of photophysics of poly(p-phenylenevinylene). In this work, fs-wave-packet fluorescence interferometry experiments are presented that measure macroscopic coherent kernels and their phase-relaxation in the low-temperature, bottom-state regime of the density-of-states below the migrational threshold energy where downhill site-to-site transfer is marginal. By using freely propagating and tunable 70 fs excitation/probing pulses and employing narrow-band spectral filtering of wave packets, fluorescence interferograms with strongly damped beatings can be observed. The coherences formally follow the in-phase superpositions of two site-optical free-induction-decays and originate from distinct pairs of coherent doorway-states, different in energy and space, each of them being targeted, by two discrete quantum-arrival-states 1(alpha) and 1(beta), via independent, isoenergetic 0-->1 fluorescence transitions. The coherent transients are explained as site-to-site polarization beatings, caused by the interference of two fluorescence correlation signals. The numerical analysis of the damping regime, based upon second-order perturbational solutions, reveals the lower limit value of homogeneous dephasing in the range from T(2) approximately 100 fs to T(2) approximately 200 fs depending on the site-excitation energy of the bottom-states. The experiments enable to look into the formation of the relaxed state as a special molecular process of electron-phonon coupling and hence open-up a quite new perspective in the puzzle of multichromophore optical dynamics and structural relaxation in conjugated polymers.  相似文献

A fully automated procedure for the determination of ng l−1 amounts of lead has been developed using flow injection (FI) online column preconcentration coupled with electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The proposed FI manifold and its operation make possible the introduction of the total eluate volume into the graphite atomizer, avoiding the necessity for optimization of subsampling the eluate. The interference of other heavy metal ions due to competition for active sites of the sorbent is overcome using a highly selective macrocycle immobilized on silica gel (Pb-02). Lead is adsorbed on a microcolumn (50 μl) packed with Pb-02, and after washing the column with dilute nitric acid, air is introduced to remove all solution from the column and connecting tubing. The sorbed analyte is then eluted quantitatively into the graphite tube atomizer, preheated to 100°C, with 36 μl of ETDA solution (0.035 mol l−1, pH 10.5), propelled by air in order to minimize dispersion. The collection efficiency was 77% and with a sample loading flow rate of 3 ml min−1 and a 60 s preconcentration time, the enhancement factor was 77 and the throughput was 17 samples per hour. The relative standard deviation (n = 10) at the 300 ng l−1 level was 2.7%, and the detection limit (3σ) was 0.4 ng l−1. No interference from heavy metals was observed, but ions of Ba2+, Sr2+ and K+ were found to interfere when the concentration ratios of interferent to lead exceeded values of 2000, 20 000 and 200 000, respectively. Quantitative recovery of lead was achieved from sodium, magnesium, aluminum, lanthanum and heavy metal salt solutions. The high selectivity and sensitivity, combined with extremely low blank values, make the proposed technique particularly attractive for the analysis of high-purity reagents, semiconductors and other high-purity materials. Results are presented for the determination of lead in some high-purity reagents.  相似文献

A series of novel structured latex particles with interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) cores and glassy SAN shells were developed in an attempt to investigate the feasibility of these polymers as both toughening and damping agents in thermoplastics. The IPN cores were composed of one impact part (polybutadiene based) and one damping part (acrylic based, with Tg around +10°C). The particle morphologies of these polymers were determined by TEM. The glass transitions and mechanical behavior of the polymers were characterized from DMS. The effect of different components on the final core/shell particle morphologies and mechanical properties was studied. The mechanical behavior of core/shell particles with IPN cores was also compared with that of separate core/shell and multilayered core/shell particles. In addition, normal core/shell synthesis (rubbery part first then the glassy part) and inverted core/shell synthesis (glassy part first then the rubbery part) were performed to provide another access for morphology control. It was found that the core/shell latex particles with poly(butyl acrylate) based copolymers are more miscible than poly(ethylhexyl methacrylate)-based copolymers. The high grafting efficiency of poly(butyl acrylate) plays an important role in governing phase miscibility. The latex particles synthesized by the inverted core/shell mode showed higher miscibility than the normal synthesized ones. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Abstract Blocking in vivo synthesis of retinal by addition of nicotine to the culture medium leads to the loss of photobehavior in Halobacterium halobium. Addition of rrans -retinol or frans-retinol2 (3,4-dehy-droretinol) restores the responses to light decreases in the green-yellow spectral range. Action spectra of the reconstituted retinal- and retinal2-photosystem show maximal sensitivity at 565 and 580 nm, respectively. Addition of retinol or retinol2 also restores the formation of bacteriorhodopsin (BR) or bacteriorhodopsin2 (BR2= 3,4-dehydroretinal-bacterio-opsin complex). The absorption spectra of BR and BR2, measured in isolated membranes, as well as in living bacteria, show maxima at 568 nm (BR) and at about 600 nm (BR2), respectively. Comparison of the action spectrum of the retinal2-containing sensory photosystem with the absorption spectrum of BR2 suggests that a retinal pigment different from BR is responsible for the photosensory behavior to green-yellow light.  相似文献

The development of supermolecular structure in polystyrene latex particles was investigated by small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). Seed latexes of deuterated polystyrene were swollen with an equal mole-% of protonated styrene monomer, equilibrated, and polymerized to complete conversion. The scattering patterns reflect the extent of supermolecular structure development inside the particle. The data were analyzed by separating the Debye single-chain and spherical scattering form factors. The extent of segregation was found to depend on the relative size of the chains compared with that of the particle, going through a maximum at the ratio Mw/D of about 0.1, where Dw represents the weight-average diameter of the latex particle. When the chain dimensions are relatively very small, uniform molecular mixing is obtained. The best model for the segregated system is a graduated core-shell supermolecular structure.  相似文献
