Die jodometrische Arsenbestimmung im technischen Calciumarsenat

Zusammenfassung Das zur Analyse von technischem Calciumarsenat entwickelte Verfahren besteht darin, daß das fünfwertige Arsen in Form von Magnesiumammoniumarsenat abgeschieden, der abfiltrierte Niederschlag in Schwefelsäure gelöst und das Arsen(V) in der Lösung jodometrisch bestimmt wird. Die Bestimmung des Gesamtarsens wird nach erfolgter Oxydation der Arsen(III)-ionen mit Kaliumchlorat in gleicher Weise durchgeführt. Die Differenz zwischen den beiden Meßwerten ergibt den Gehalt an Arsen(III). Die störende Wirkung der Eisen(III)-ionen wird durch Maskierung mit Kaliumnatriumtartrat behoben. Bei der Bestimmung von sehr geringen Mengen Arsen (5–30 mg) ist die Anwesenheit von Phosphationen erwünscht, weil diese die vollständige Erfassung der Arsenspuren sicherstellen.Meiner Mitarbeiterin Rózsa B. Synthesis of heparin saccharides III. Synthesis of derivatives of D-glucosamine as starting materials for disaccharides.

Derivatives of benzyl 2-[1-(benzyloxy)formamido]-2-deoxy-α-D-glucopyranoside with various protecting groups at C(3) (benzoyl, benzyl and N-phenylcarbamoyl) and C(6) (benzoyl, benzylsulfonyl, N-phenylcarbamoyl and tosyl) have been synthesized as starting materials for disaccharides. The C(4) and C(6) hydroxyl groups of the amino sugar were initially blocked by an acetal group. After introduction of the protecting group at C(3), the acetal group was removed by acid hydrolysis, and the C(6) hydroxyl group was selectively acylated or sulfonylated. The 3,6-di-O-benzoate has also been prepared by dimolar benzoylation of the amino sugar, whereby the 4,6-isomer was obtained as a by-product.     

Three remarks on the modular commutator

First a problem of Ralph McKenzie is answered by proving that in a finitely directly representable variety every directly indecomposable algebra must be finite. Then we show that there is no local proof of the fundamental theorem of Abelian algebras nor of H. P. Gumm's permutability results. This part may also be of interest for those investigating non-modular Abelian algebras. Finally we provide a Gumm-type characterization of the situation when twonot necessarily comparable congruences centralize each other. In doing this, we introduce a four variable version of the difference term in every modular variety. A two-terms condition is also investigated.Dedicated to the memory of András HuhnPresented by R. Preparation and Photocatalytic Performance of TiO2 Nanowire-Based Self-Supported Hybrid Membranes

Nowadays, the use of hybrid structures and multi-component materials is gaining ground in the fields of environmental protection, water treatment and removal of organic pollutants. This study describes promising, cheap and photoactive self-supported hybrid membranes as a possible solution for wastewater treatment applications. In the course of this research work, the photocatalytic performance of titania nanowire (TiO₂ NW)-based hybrid membranes in the adsorption and degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation was investigated. Characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) were used to study the morphology and surface of the as-prepared hybrid membranes. We tested the photocatalytic efficiency of the as-prepared membranes in decomposing methylene blue (MB) under UV light irradiation. The hybrid membranes achieved the removal of MB with a degradation efficiency of 90% in 60 min. The high efficiency can be attributed to the presence of binary components in the membrane that enhanced both the adsorption capability and the photocatalytic ability of the membranes. The results obtained suggest that multicomponent hybrid membranes could be promising candidates for future photocatalysis-based water treatment technologies that also take into account the principles of circular economy.

Multiphoton ionisation of different order was measured from the energy levels of the atoms He, excited in a low current glow discharge.     

Populations of coupled electrochemical oscillators

Experiments were carried out on arrays of chaotic electrochemical oscillators to which global coupling, periodic forcing, and feedback were applied. The global coupling converts a very weakly coupled set of chaotic oscillators to a synchronized state with sufficiently large values of coupling strength; at intermediate values both intermittent and stable chaotic cluster states occur. Cluster formation and synchronization were also obtained by applying feedback and forcing to a moderately coupled base state. The three cases differ, however, in other details. The feedback and forcing also produce periodic cluster states and more than two clusters. Configurations of two (chaotic) clusters and two, three, or four (periodic) clusters were observed. On generalized Stanley sequences

Let \({\mathbb{N}}\) denote the set of all nonnegative integers. Let \({k \ge 3}\) be an integer and \({A_{0} = \{a_{1}, \dots, a_{t}\} (a_{1} < \cdots < a_{t})}\) be a nonnegative set which does not contain an arithmetic progression of length k. We denote \({A = \{a_{1}, a_{2}, \ldots{}\}}\) defined by the following greedy algorithm: if \({l \ge t}\) and \({a_{1}, \dots{}, a_{l}}\) have already been defined, then \({a_{l+1}}\) is the smallest integer \({a > a_{l}}\) such that \({\{a_{1}, \dots, a_{l}\} \cup \{a\}}\) also does not contain a k-term arithmetic progression. This sequence A is called the Stanley sequence of order k generated by A₀. We prove some results about various generalizations of the Stanley sequence.     

Chaotic cluster itinerancy and hierarchical cluster trees in electrochemical experiments

Experiments on an array of 64 globally coupled chaotic electrochemical oscillators were carried out. The array is heterogeneous due to small variations in the properties of the electrodes and there is also a small amount of noise. Over some ranges of the coupling parameter, dynamical clustering was observed. The precision-dependent cluster configuration is analyzed using hierarchical cluster trees. The cluster configurations varied with time: spontaneous changes of number of clusters and their configurations were detected. Simple transitions occurred with the switch of a single element or groups of elements. During more complicated transitions subclusters were exchanged among clusters but original cluster configurations were revisited. At weaker coupling the system itinerated among lower-dimensional quasistationary chaotic two-cluster states and higher-dimensional states with many clusters. In this region the transitions showed characteristics of on-off intermittency.
