In this paper, the influence of nickel incorporation on the mechanical properties and the in vitro bioactivity of hydrogenated carbon thin films were investigated in detail. Amorphous hydrogenated carbon (a‐C:H) and nickel‐incorporated hydrogenated carbon (Ni/a‐C:H) thin films were deposited onto the Si substrates by using reactive biased target ion beam deposition technique. The films' chemical composition, surface roughness, microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated by using XPS, AFM, TEM, nanoindentation and nanoscratch test, respectively. XPS results have shown that the film surface is mainly composed of nickel, nickel oxide and nickel hydroxide, whereas at the core is nickel carbide (Ni3C) only. The presence of Ni3C has increased the sp2 carbon content and as a result, the mechanical hardness of the film was decreased. However, Ni/a‐C:H films shows very low friction coefficient with higher scratch‐resistance behavior than that of pure a‐C:H film. In addition, in vitro bioactivity study has confirmed that it is possible to grow dense bone‐like apatite layer on Ni/a‐C:H films. Capillary filling dynamics is ubiquitous in biological and natural processes. While capillary imbibition in narrow conduits has been extensively studied in the literature,any generalization in the oscillatory characteristics of the capillary front,typically observed towards the end of capillary filling processes,remains elusive. Considering Newtonian fluids,here,we demonstrate the realization of a unique universal signature of the oscillatory dynamics of the capillary front,by collapsing all relevant data in terms of the pertinent dimensionless parameters,leading to a single master curve. We further delineate the validity of our claim through extensive experiments,using four different fluids,and phase-field numerical simulations. Studies on the deposition and dissolution of copper from 0·5 M sulphuric acid solutions onto glassy carbon (GC) using potential sweep techniques indicated that an additional peak occurs at higher positive potentials than the bulk stripping peak. This peak is identified as due to the stripping of underpotential deposited (UPD) copper. Results of investigations on the effect of sweep rate, deposition potential and time of deposition on the peak characteristics of UPD and bulk deposited copper are also reported.  相似文献

Newly synthesized 2-propylpiperidine-1-carbodithioate (2-PPC) was used for the extraction of Cr(III), Ni(II), and Zn(II) from various water samples. In the present investigation, the use of a syringe loaded with sorbent for the separation and enrichment of Cr(III), Ni(II), and Zn(II) prior to their determination by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) was proposed to substitute the batch and column techniques. The described method was compared with the column technique with respect to fastness, simplicity, recovery, and risk of contamination. The syringe was loaded with 1.0 g of sorbent in order to retain the analyte elements. Next, 7.0 mL of sample solution (pH 5.0 ± 0.2) was drawn into the syringe in 15 s and discharged over 15 s. Then, an eluent (3.0 M HCl) was drawn into the syringe and ejected back to desorb the analyte elements. At the optimum conditions, the percentage recoveries of Cr(III), Ni(II), and Zn(II) were in the range of 94.50 to 99.62% with a standard deviation (S.D.) of 0.03%. The elements could be concentrated by drawing and discharging several portions of sample successively and eluting only one time. The detailed study of various interferences proved the method to be highly selective. The risk of contamination is less than that with the column technique. The method was successfully applied to the determination of Cr(III), Ni(II), and Zn(II) in spiked and natural water samples. A novel, sensitive, stability-indicating gradient RP-LC method has been developed for quantitative analysis of balsalazide disodium and its related impurities both in the bulk drug and in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Efficient chromatographic separation was achieved on a C18 stationary phase with a simple mobile-phase gradient prepared from methanol and phosphate buffer (10 mm potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate monohydrate, adjusted to pH 2.5 by addition of orthophosphoric acid). The mobile-phase flow rate was 1.0 mL min?1. Quantification was achieved by use of ultraviolet detection at 240 nm. Under these conditions resolution of balsalazide disodium from its three potential impurities was greater than 2.0. Regression analysis resulted in a correlation coefficient greater than 0.99 for balsalazide disodium and all three impurities. This method was capable of detecting the three impurities at 0.003% of the test concentration of 0.3 mg mL?1, using an injection volume of 10 μL. Inter-day and intra-day precision for all three impurities and for balsalazide disodium was within 2.0% RSD. Recovery of balsalazide disodium from the bulk drug (99.2–101.5%) and from pharmaceutical dosage forms (99.8–101.3%), and recovery of the three impurities (99.1–102.1%) was consistently good. The test solution was found to be stable in 70:30 (v/v) methanol–water for 48 h. When the drug was subjected to hydrolytic, oxidative, photolytic, and thermal stress, acidic and alkaline hydrolysis and oxidizing conditions led to substantial degradation. The RP-LC method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, and robustness.  相似文献

We propose a method for controlling coexisting attractors in multistable dynamical systems. In this method, the feedback for an initial duration of time can drive the system to the desired state. We have illustrated this method by considering temporal feedback in autonomous as well as non-autonomous dynamical systems. In this work, the photosensitizing properties of ferrocene (Fc)-based compounds FcCH(2)CS(3)CH(2)Fc (1) and FcCH(2)SSCH(2)Fc (2) were investigated and significant enhancement in the light harvesting efficiency was observed compared to those achieved with previously reported compounds from our lab. The compounds were fully characterized by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, and their electrochemical properties studied. DSSCs based on these dyes display efficiencies comparable to those of a standard cell based on N719 under similar experimental conditions. These studies demonstrate that ferrocenyl-based sulfur rich compounds with proper orientation of the Fc groups assisted via suitable linkers, together with desired redox properties and visible region electronic absorption features could constitute a new class of photosensitizers targeting light driven reactions.  相似文献

Pyrochlore phase free [Pb0.94Sr0.06] [(Mn1/3Sb2/3)0.05(Zr0.53Ti0.47)0.95] O3 ceramics has been synthesized with pure Perovskite phase by semi-wet route using the columbite precursor method. The field dependences of the dielectric response and the conductivity have been measured in a frequency range from 50 Hz to 1 MHz and in a temperature range from 303 K to 773 K. An analysis of the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric permittivity with frequency has been performed, assuming a distribution of relaxation times. The scaling behavior of the dielectric loss spectra suggests that the distribution of the relaxation times is temperature independent. The SEM photographs of the sintered specimens present the homogenous structures and well-grown grains with a sharp grain boundary. The material exhibits tetragonal structure. When measured at frequency (100 Hz), the polarization shows a strong field dependence. Different piezoelectric figures of merit (kp, d33 and Qm) of the material have also been measured obtaining their values as 0.53, 271 pC/N and 1115, respectively, which are even higher than those of pure PZT with morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) composition. Thus the present ceramics have the optimal overall performance and are promising candidates for the various high power piezoelectric applications.  相似文献

Bioluminescence imaging is a powerful approach for visualizing specific events occurring inside live mice. Animals can be made to glow in response to the expression of a gene, the activity of an enzyme, or the growth of a tumor. But bioluminescence requires the interaction of a luciferase enzyme with a small‐molecule luciferin, and its scope has been limited by the mere handful of natural combinations. Herein, we show that mutants of firefly luciferase can discriminate between natural and synthetic substrates in the brains of live mice. When using adeno‐associated viral (AAV) vectors to express luciferases in the brain, we found that mutant luciferases that are inactive or weakly active with d ‐luciferin can light up brightly when treated with the aminoluciferins CycLuc1 and CycLuc2 or their respective FAAH‐sensitive luciferin amides. Further development of selective luciferases promises to expand the power of bioluminescence and allow multiple events to be imaged in the same live animal.  相似文献

The three component condensation of an aldehyde, a β-keto ester and urea (thiourea) in the presence of a catalytic amount of VCl3 is disclosed for the solution phase synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones. The ease of synthesis and work-up allowed the parallel synthesis of a 48-membered library of dihydropyrimidinones quickly and efficiently in good yields.  相似文献
