New fabrication method for anisotropic gratings formed in photocrosslinkable polymer liquid crystals

We present a new fabrication method, called two-step ultraviolet exposure, to prepare anisotropic gratings in photocrosslinkable polymer liquid crystal films. Using the controllability of the reorientation direction of mesogenic molecules, anisotropic phase gratings, in which the mesogenic molecules were periodically modulated in orthogonal directions, were prepared by the use of one grating photomask. The resultant gratings diffract the light and convert the polarization states at the same time, and have applications as diffraction optical devices. Detonation experiments are conducted to investigate the detonation wave behavior in steam pipelines of boiling water reactors. Accumulated gases in BWRs are stoichiometric hydrogen/oxygen mixtures diluted with steam at 7 MPa. In the experiment, flammable gas mixture diluted with nitrogen at room temperature and up to 5 MPa is used to achieve equivalent detonation condition. Two test pieces are used, one is straight tube and the other is 90-degree bend. No initial pressure dependency in detonation wave behavior is observed in the experiments. However, in the straight tube tests, detonation velocities higher than theoretical values are measured when the initial pressures are greater than 2.3 MPa. This result is considered as attribution of real gas effect. In the 90-degree bend experiments, pressure time histories reveal pressure loads greater than the straight tube portion at two locations. One is a high pressure peak at the extrados of the bend and the other is a double pressure peak just downstream of the bend outlet. Second pressure peak just downstream of the bend outlet is due to transverse wave propagation. Additionally, the largest impulse is observed not at the extrados of the bend but at the intrados of bend outlet. These results show the importance of more investigations on transverse wave behaviors in failure potential evaluation. 相似文献

Raman measurements in the 1.5-20 cm(-1) energy range were performed on single crystals of Sr14-xCaxCu24O41. A quasielastic scattering peak (QEP) which softens with cooling is observed only in the polarization parallel to the ladder direction for samples with x=0, 8, and 12. The QEP is a Raman fingerprint of pinned collective density wave excitations screened by uncondensed carriers in the ladder structures. Our results suggest that transport in metallic samples, which is similar to transport in underdoped high-T(c) cuprates, is driven by a collective electronic response. 相似文献

Abstract We have compared the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the threshold current, Ith, and lasing energy, Elase, of 1.3 pm quantum-well devices based upon AlGaInAs and InGaAsP. Whilst we observe a very similar dependence of Elase on pressure for the two materials, we measure strikingly different variations of Ith. By applying pressure to 1.3 μm InGaAsP lasers, Ith typically decreases by ~ 10% over 1 GPa consistent with the reduction of Auger recombination, which forms ~ 50% of Ith at room temperature. However, for the 1.3 μm AlGaInAs-based lasers, we observe an increase in Ith by ~ 8% over the same pressure range. From these results we conclude that non-radiative recombination accounts for only ~ 20% of Ith in AlGaInAs-based devices. This is in good agreement with previous temperature dependence measurements and shows why AlGaInAs-based devices exhibit a reduced temperature sensitivity of Ith which is very important for telecommunications applications. 相似文献

Phosphine oxides bearing two or three 2-pyridyl groups react with organometallic reagents affording 2,2′-bipyridyl, 2-substituted pyridines and pyridine in good yields. Phosphonium salts and phosphine oxides, bearing at least two 2-pyridyl or substituted 2-pyridyl groups also give the corresponding 2,2′-bipyridyls and pyridines upon treatment with acid or neutral solvents such as water and alcohols in substantial yields. A transverse optical plasma mode is observed at far-infrared frequencies within the superconducting gap region by measuring the c-axis optical reflectivity for single crystals of T* cuprate superconductors SmLa0.85Sr0.15CuO4-delta and Nd1.4Sr0.4Ce0.2CuO4-delta. These T* cuprates have two different insulating layers sandwiching the superconducting CuO2 planes, leading to two longitudinal plasmons. Also, the transverse mode is directly observed due to the coupling of the infrared radiation with the current perpendicular to the superconducting layers which are regarded as an alternating array of two inequivalent Josephson junctions. 相似文献

It was founded using the magneto-optical technique that the domain wall in the iron-based amorphous ferromagnet in its movement experienced enhanced deceleration on the surface compared to the volume. The surface deceleration of the wall intensifies under water molecules adsorption on the sample surface. We investigated the characteristics of in-plane orientation for c-axis-oriented Bi-2212 thin films on MgO substrates, fabricated by the metal–organic decomposition (MOD) method. Bi-2212/MgO films were annealed using a 2-step heat treatment. The dominant rotation angle of the Bi-2212 film was 45° ([1 0 0] of Bi-2212 // [1 1 0] of MgO) for a precursor film fabricated at 500 °C and fired at 840 °C for 0 min or 30 min. However, after firing for 1 h the ?-scanning signal indicating the 45° angle became smaller and the signal representing an angle of about ±12° ([1 0 0] of Bi-2212 // [5 1 0] of MgO) became larger. After firing for 3 h, this ±12° signal became dominant. The extent of the 45° angle’s shift to ±12° increased with increasing firing time. On the other hand, when the precursor film was fabricated at 430 °C, signals indicating angles of 0°, ∼±12°, and 45° were observed after firing for 30 min. The rotation angle depended on the precursor-fabrication temperature when the precursor film was fired at 840 °C for 0 min or 30 min. 相似文献
